When visiting MS, I'm constantly on the search for places with free WiFi so I can go sit with my MacBook for a few hours. This is one of my favourite places to do just that. They have lots of tables and chairs set up, so there's never a problem finding a cozy place to plop down for a while. This library is fairly new and it's a really gorgeous building, both inside and out. Everything is so well organized and it's kept spotless. Of course you'll find books here (duh, it's a library), but they also have tons of CDs, DVDs, and video games (for the Playstation, XBox, and DS) that you can check out. Thanks to the great people of the Rankin County Library System, they let me use my parents' address to get a library card. This allows me to check things out (I like to listen to the CDs on my laptop sometimes while I'm here and I need a library card to get the CDs) and it also allows me to use one of their many computers and the internet if I happen to not feel like bring my Mac with me. The entire staff are very friendly and helpful. They will go out of their way to help you find what you're looking for. LOVE this library! I so wish we had one like it in Jacksonville!

I also enjoy using it to study for my actuarial exams. Fast WiFi, although ALL streaming is blocked. This means no viewing online lectures. My one complaint is the noise level sometimes. People seem to forget libraries are quiet zones and I've not noticed any librarians correcting this when it happens.

When we drove on this long scenic wooded path to what seemed like a modern wooded home-- I got surprised that we were still in MS with such a beauty of what my eyes glimpsed upon. The inside of the library was filled with rock building structures in which held the lobby area and the main reading area together. Open spaced computer pads sat, while large bookcases were overlooking each other. The librarians in the front were friendly and always looking to please the next book lover. To use the computer you must have your library card number, and to get a library card you must have something in your possession that has your name and MS address on it. Computer space is limited; meaning you might just be stuck sitting next to someone that hogs the mouse territory. The ladies restroom is extremely clean and lacks a stinky smell which is a plus. Overall, A+ to this library. FREE Wifi if you don't have a MS library card=== that's a plus, so do bring your electronic devices!

The loss of the 3 stars are due to the fact that I came to get a library card and left empty handed. Why you say??? First and foremost because when I called some woman was breathing into the phone like a weird stalker. "Breath breath... Can I help you?" Me: "Uhm.. yes ma'am? Uhm... I am trying to see how I would go about getting a library card since I do not live within the Forrest County limits? "Breath breaaaaaath Breath, you could just, Breath Breath pay 50 dollars and have access. Breath." Me: "Oh. Ok. What all perks does that come with?" "Breath, Hoopla, breath." Me: "So no to Libby, Overdrive, and Freegal?" "What's, Breath, that?" Me: "omg... If you had it you would know." "Breath, breath, let me transfer you to circulation." Me: "Ok." Then they transferred me and a normal person answered with no excessive breathing. And said the same thing. So I drove 40 miles to get to the building. Because they have a 50 dollar fee for non residents. Ok... no problem. Boom! Everyone takes Visa or even Mastercard. I know most places turn up their nose at American Express the same way we look down our nose at people who don't accept it. But oh no.... not here. They are cash or check only! I was flabbergasted!!! What kind of road side, mom and pop establishment had I walked in to? I had to ask??? Are "yall" stuck in the stone ages? Who brings cash or a check to the library??? Especially on this side of town. Smh... I guess I'm going to go back to audible and ordering my books offline. It would save one heck of a headache! I would NOT recommend unless you live in Forrest county and their service is free. Even with that... I still may have to look elsewhere seeing that they could not even guarantee what selections they had unless I purchased the library card. Like a home "site unseen". Not sure how many of those ever surpassed expectations. But I am going to have to do a HARD PASS on this library. Thanks, but no thanks! I do NOT recommend!

Nothing quite like the smell of old books. This library is quite grand and was a welcome surprise…read more I did not need to do research or to check out a book. I needed a quiet and cool Place to hang out before my flight home and for about 3 hours. This library was so perfect for my needs. And it was much larger than I expected. There were large tables with several chairs and lots of space and there were small individual tables. I was able to catch up on some work!! Air conditioning in the Deep South and Work! Win win!! Oh! One other mention, their internet is super fast. Another plus for my needs. If you're looking for a place for study or work, give this library a try! I'll be back next time I'm in Hattiesburg.

I also enjoy seeing children working on projects or just hanging out with their Mom and Dad for story time or reading a book with them. Saw they only had 3 stars which I found insane. I have loved going here for years and they have so…read moremuch to do. I recently took my nephew with me too and they had many books for him to choose from and even bird watching. They also still rent out movies and video games. Having the park and trail behind the library is also a huge plus.
