The Bungalows Hotel - View of the restaurant

    The Bungalows Hotel

    (37 reviews)

The Bungalows Hotel is a very cute quaint hotel situated about 1/4 mile or 10-15 minute walk to the…read moredowntown area that has a bunch of souvenir stores, restaurants, and large hotels along the water. The hostess, Ally, greeted us in the office with a hug and a refreshing juice, "welcome home." There are parking spaces just outside the hotel. The hotel is on a circular street with an island in the center. The door to the hotel is locked at night. You need a code to enter. Otherwise, the door is unlocked during the day. We had an apartment on the 2nd level with a set of stairs leading up to the gated door and a balcony. The decor was lovely and stylish. The balcony had seats at the outdoor bar which was attached to the indoor kitchen with windows separating them. There were cups, utensils, plates, refrigerator, microwave, and sink in the kitchen. The bathroom sink and shower worked fine, however the toilet had a low flush and took forever to fill up. There was an AC unit on the wall in both bedrooms, but we couldn't get them to work. Not sure if we just didn't know how to turn it on or if they weren't working. One of the bedrooms was just off the balcony. The other bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom was separate off the balcony. If you have young children, I would not recommend this upper apartment because of the one bedroom being a bit separated from the other area. The common area is only the balcony (as opposed to a living room or family room). Also, since there's a balcony, you need to be careful of young children climbing the low wall. I would have preferred the apartment that had a main shared living room instead of the balcony so that we could have all sat together more easily. (The balcony did have the bar with seats and 2 chairs, but it was just awkward.) This apartment had a gate for the door. There isn't a wood or metal door. The gate requires a key to operate from both the inside and outside of the door. To lock the door at night time while you are inside, you need to use the key. While this provides security by eliminating easy entry for intruders, it also means if there's an emergency, you need to have that key ready in order to exit the apartment, so keep it in a place where everyone knows where it is. We put the "Please make up room" sign out for one of the days but no one came to refresh the room. We had to go ask that someone clean out the trash baskets. We had been there for a few days by then. In the mornings, you could hear the occasional motorcycles or cars going by, the rooster crowing, and a couple dogs barking and birds chirping. In the evenings, there was a restaurant somewhere near that played music that I enjoyed listening to. While the various noises didn't bother us one bit, I overheard two people talking about how the noise bothered them. I actually liked hearing the birds sing, the rooster crow, the dogs barking faintly in the distance as we were waking up. Breakfast is AWESOME!! I would stay here again just for the breakfast! They serve the same dish to everyone, but if you want something different, you can request it. Every day the main breakfast item changed. Presentation is lovely. Food is yummy. Fruit smoothies are refreshing. There's also tea and coffee. Nearby, little birds are eating from the beautiful bird feeder. Red Bougainvillea decorate the area. The breakfast here is something we looked forward to every day. There's a cafe nearby (though I didn't go) and a restaurant next door. The restaurant didn't seem to get much business so we took that as a sign that it wasn't too good, so we didn't go. The route to walk to downtown is steep and there wasn't always a sidewalk or the sidewalk was broken up. If you have trouble walking, this isn't the hotel for you unless you have vehicle transportation. There's a convenience store about a block or two away where we bought water, juice, fruit, yogurt, soap, toothpaste, etc. Don't drink the water at the hotel. You should buy bottled water to use for brushing teeth, rinsing your mouth, etc. A tip about driving: Drivers slow down for a stop sign, but most don't actually stop. On one YouTube video, the YouTuber said he once got a ticket for rolling through the stop sign too slowly. And yep, we learned to just roll through. And we learned to stop or yield only when there's another car at the intersection. The Bungalows' web site is thorough, so take a look at it to check out the accommodations and breakfast items and photos! Oh, the roof is something like a thatched roof, made out of dried leaves! Very interesting! Definitely adds to the decor when you look up at the roof when you're about to go to sleep!

Incredibly nice people here, they talk to you like old friends…read more When we arrived, we were greeted with huge hugs, first time ever that has happened to me at a hotel. The lady was genuinely nice!! They also served complimentary breakfast daily, although I stuck to mostly fruit and smoothies, there were also pancakes served. The rooms were good, small, and had a refrigerator and microwave in them. This place is a bit out of the way though, and there is a hill you have to walk up coming back here. They also give you a code to get in when they lock up the main entrance. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to Downtown Cabo San Lucas. I also really enjoyed the pool, super clear and refreshing!! This place is for those who don't want to stay right in the mix of everything, it's a hotel that has a very local feel to it!!!

The property is just gorgeous, as are the rooms. It's a huge property & the staff are so efficient at getting you to & from in carts if you choose not to walk. The gym is amazing, they have this awesome stretching machine in there as well as pilates equipment. I would stay here again without hesitation. I could keep going on honestly but the last thing I'll say is this place feels romantic so if you're looking to get away with your partner this is the perfect place. Cheers

BUT......Esperanza is on a different level and if you have the means....by all means I HIGHLY recommend staying here. The ocean view suites are stunning with amazing views. Service is the finest you will find. You have your own concierge who knows you when you arrive. Everyone there is friendly and wants to make your stay the best. Location is the best. The beach is great to swim. The pools are great. The restaurants offer varied options....although we only ate at one and it reminded me of a Luau. Gold courses close by. Pickleball and Tennis courts. Basketball courts. Great gym and spa. With so many options and so many new places popping up...I think Esperanza still is the tops with it's gorgeous grounds and stunning service.

Every room has a view of the Sea. You can hear the waves splashing against the land most days, but all days you will feel a cool sea breeze. Alegranza provides a close, intimate, safe setting for its guests to relax amidst beautiful gardens, two swimming pools and other amenities. It has great walkability to San Jose, the beach and the hotel zone. You can get by without a car. Alegranza has a first class sushi restaurant, Mirai, for those times you want to dine in either at Mirai itself, a tastefully appointed restaurant with an exceptional wait staff, or on the balcony of your beautiful condo gazing at the Sea of Cortez. Overall though it is not the splendid accommodations and amenities that makes Alegranza sparkle. It is the staff. I lived at Alegranza for a year and came to appreciate the staff from housekeeping through the CEO for the courtesies extended to me during that time. I felt protected and cared for on all levels. I value all the staff as family. Whether coming to Los Cabos for a weekend or a year, I wholly recommend the Alegranza. It provides access to everything you need and desire, onsite and off any activity you dream about can be arranged by the capable concierge. Whether a romantic getaway or a family vacation, Alegranza has you covered. Enjoy! Best wishes for a joyful, relaxing time at Alegranza Margaret (Marge) Kemp-Williams

I really have a lot of mixed feelings about this place. I was given a rate of $3,700 for a 21 day…read morestay. I booked the penthouse which was four bedrooms and two stories. So, I thought it was a decent price. The concierge always responded quickly to my emails. Although calling or going into the office was pointless because my requests and concerns were never resolved through the front, I had to email anytime I had an issue. The penthouse was big, very pretty and clean. So, the bad.... First, it is not close to the beach at all. So you must drive everywhere. It is on a huge hill and unless you are in incredible shape I do not suggest walking anywhere. Especially if you have children. You will need to rent a car for your stay. Second, the hot tub (which was part of the appeal) had a dead bird in it when we opened it up. The tub itself needed to be refinished and was not used a single time during our stay because of how gross it was. Third, the oven only partial worked. I had a maintenance man come to fix it but he was only able to get two burners to work. So, we ended up having to eat out a lot. Fourth, AWFUL AWFUL internet connection. You should just forget about using the internet when you are there. Also, mid way through our stay the TV lost all it's channels except for 4.... and those were all in spanish. Fifth, they were installing hurricane shutters. It was constant drilling during the day which was loud and annoying. Sixth, the room service never answers. You have to go down and order directly from them. Frankly the food was not that good and portions were very small and INCREDIBLY over priced. Finally, this is my biggest complaint. When leaving I was hit with almost a $1,000 for the electric bill, plus a $300 tax bill. I went back to look over my reservation and there was nothing about me having to pay for electricity or an additional tax! If you are thinking about staying I would just be cautious. The view was very pretty but all in all I would never stay again.
