Termessos is one of the best preserved of the ancient Greek cities in Anatolia, modern day Turkey. The ancient city was founded by the Solims who lived in the Psidia Region...Little is known of this city except for a few mentions during Alexander the Great's conquest...and he couldn't conquer it...the boy left shaking his head calling it the Eagle's nest.
Okay, I'm a bit of a history buff and I get all giddy as a school child when I embark on adventures to discover ancient ruins. This place is epic and has simply survived through the centuries of natural destruction and vandalism. It's probably more preserved than any other ancient Greek ruins in Greece. A must visit.
The necropolis is eerie and exudes a strange but spiritual Aura. You can enjoy the view from the top or from the edge of the Amphitheatre. It's worth the visit if you're ever in Turkey. Best of all it's only a few kilometers from the beautiful coastal city of Antalya. read more
