What does Benji Gecy at Beaufort Lending offer you? An honest, and direct evaluation of your loan…read moreopportunity, the best interest rate available at the time of your application, wise and very experienced advice as to what mortgage term will work best for your circumstance. In 2020, when the best rate I could find was 3.1% interest rate and we talked with over 11 lending institutions, including our own. Beaufort Lending was 2.23% on a thirty year refinance fixed rate mortgage. This time around on our new home, the best we could find was a 4.5%. Beaufort Lending 4.125%! But then, Benji was able to lock that rate in for 60 days. Wow, what a difference, and Benji saved us over $104 a month, and more than $37,000 over the life of a 30 mortgage compared with the 5.5% interest rate we would pay today if Benji had not locked our loan. Their process is simple! All you need to do is send Madison (an ace, and pleasure to deal with at all times), is seven pieces of information, and your qualified. Friendly, fast, efficient, with reasonable fees, and personable local people who are outstanding at what the do! Because they are real people, like you. It's is always our choice with whom we do business. But when it costs less for excellent service down the street from your neighbor, doesn't it make sense to reach out shake hands with the Owner while supporting our local business? It did to us, and we won twice in deciding on Beaufort Lending, and Benji Gecy to help us. He can help you too!

BEWARE DO NOT CHOSE TO USE BENJI GECY AS YOUR MORTGAGE BROKER - It may be bad news for you too!…read more I now live in South Carolina. I am not new to mortgages or buying homes. This was my 8th home purchase, in 6 states and have had nearly 2 times that many mortgages - by far the worst and only one I would consider unethical. Do not use this mortgage broker. I endured verbal harassment because my builder was taking too long. My closing agent endured verbal harrassment because she did not send paperwork to their liking. My building supervisor received harassment because the landscaping was not complete when the appraiser came the first time - BTW, the appraiser charged me just to see if there was grass and some bushes on top of the $550, another $200! The story starts in March/April 2022. I was concerned of increasing mortgage interest rates. I called apparently got ahold of "Johnny" who set me up with decent rates and told me good for 6 months, with an additional fee of $125 to extend for total of 9 months. That was enough to get me in the house we were building. I got a cold call in June from Benji Gecy who said Johnny was gone and asked me what I wanted to do... I said, "follow the original plan" and stated what I had been told by Johnny. He said that was not an option and no such lock was available. At this point rates were about 1% higher than I THOUGHT my lock was. Benji Gecy told me my lock was 0.25 higher than I thought. I asked what my options were and he said leave and go somewhere else or get your house done prior to Oct. Lock would cost 0.75% in Oct, another higher amount in Nov. and then if December another 2%. Each month from September on I signed papers to keep my lock, enduring Benji complaining about my builder and how he knows construction and I should tell my builder to go faster. No way that was happening, as my builder is a large corporation... Just prior to December, I signed the papers that I would pay the final lock amount as I knew our house was about to be completed and close. Late one evening I got a call from Benji that full of contempt for my building and the potential loan situation. He actually told me, "This loan is costing me so much, my kids are going to have a bad Christmas!" I told him I was sorry about his kids, but their Christmas was not my concern. He said underwriters were working on the loan and having issues with it. I found out later that there is a law, since the 2008 crash, that prevents predatory lending and having fees greater than a certain percent of the principle. I also noticed on the loan forms the day before I closed that my PRINCIPAL had INCREASED 2.5%!!!! I asked his assistant about it she said that was what it is now and that's what it was agreed to. He was never available. If I would have stopped the loan closing, I do not know what rate I would have ended up with - certainly higher! I told the closing agent and he acknowledged but did not have much to say. Apparently those in the industry are all aware of his reputation and antics. Too bad customers don't know. BEWARE DO NOT CHOSE TO USE BENJI GECY AS YOUR MORTGAGE BROKER - It may be bad news for you too! No, I have not decided if I will file a claim with United States Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, CFPB. I am aware they are the primary enforcement agency for such violations. In the meantime, perhaps this review will help you decide to STAY AWAY.

This process has seemed easier than going to the ATM to take out $20 and we are completely blown away this is happening so quickly or painlessly. It shouldn't have been. After I got sick 7 years ago, things weren't great on the FICO front for us. He asked honest questions like, "How much do you want to spend on mortgage a month?" And gave us a selling price to focus on based on our answer. We found the house we absolutely wanted and our mortgage came in $100 under what we said we wanted to spend. Obviously, not everyone will get a mortgage loan, but I thought we were a year and 50 points away so... But the most important thing about Jeff is he took the time to answer my questions about the process, never was irritated about my phone calls, got excited for us as each stage progressed, and kept in constant communication with us. (10 phone calls and at least 50 emails in 3 weeks!!!) I would definitely recommend Jeff and Harbor Mortgage to anyone wanting a mortgage, VA, FHA, 1st Home, 10th Home... Bonus: they are located right here in Savannah.

I don't even know where to begin…read more.. Building a new house is stressful as is, but the mortgage experience with BankSouth made things a million times worse. Honestly, I have never worked with such incompetent individuals. Because they do not read all your emails and document submittals and/or do not communicate with their teams, they will ask you for documentation that you have already provided. Also, they submitted last minute underwriting requests a week before close when we started the long process essentially 2 months prior. Additionally, they knew that I lived out of state and would not be present at close and did not say anything about granting my family power of attorney to sign the closing documents. I had to double check with them the week of, thus resulting in some last minute running around to get the POA notarized. It gets worse... At closing, the documents did not have the right individuals on the title. Yeah I know it's confusing when 1 of the 2 people on the security deed is different than people on the mortgage but it's an important little detail that we kept reminding them about. This resulted in another around of documentation for the deed quit claim to fix the names on the title. AND THEN... Months later, we still hadn't received confirmation of the deed quit claim being recorded. I followed up with the attorney to find that it never got processed. Spare yourself and find a different company to work with!

I've worked with multiple mortgage brokers/loan officers in the past, and Lisa and her team are honestly the best! They are knowledgeable and answered all of my questions - quickly and thoroughly. And I am an attorney so I had a TON of questions. Lisa even responded to my emergency weekend texts, which was definitely going above and beyond! And she has a true mastery of her field- she understands the loan process, the options and the nuances involved. One of the things I appreciated was that she never gave me generic answers; everything she explained made sense and if I had follow up questions, she would break it down. Most people won't (or perhaps can't) do that. Plus, you can tell that she is detail oriented and meticulous- she dots every I and crosses every T. And I love that, especially because it was the biggest purchase my husband and I have ever made. Buying a home is stressful, but Lisa alleviated all the mortgage-related stress. We were kept informed during the entire process. She really made the entire process smooth and enjoyable from start to finish. On top of that, she is so sweet and genuine... I truly enjoyed working with her and her team. I honestly can't recommend them enough. My husband and I will be lifelong clients and I look forward to working with her again in the future!
