Benton's best kept secret here !!! I can only say " Wow that was the best Mexican food I have ever had !! " true authentic Mexican food full of flavor in every bite. Fresh and hot with very little wait . I had the Steak chimichanga and my mother had the shrimp chimichanga and both were excellent. Great prices too !! The service and food were excellent, except for the hard shell taco. The taco was pretty unauthentic. Why five stars, because I ordered the Volcano. Wow, it was awesome!!! Went back and tried the shrimp chimichanga, also a home run. The sauces are SO good. Ask for the tomatillo sauce. Much spicier and tastier then what they hand out with the chips. Consistently disappointing. I gone several times over the years, hoping for improvement, but keep finding the same bland, tasteless dishes, and this final time it was barely lukewarm. Solidifying cheese enchiladas, unsalted refries, bland rice, and a chalupa tortilla that was impossible to cut, much less chew. One shouldn't eat a restaurant meal with "I can cook better!" on repeat in one's head. I wont be hoping anymore. read more

So we have eaten here for the last few years but now go to La Fiesta. The food is good but the last few times we've tried to eat here the smell of sewer has been overwhelming and we ended up leaving as the smell hits you when you walk in the door! I'm not sure how they are still open and the regular staff are super nice. Definitely not very clean read more

They took forever to take our Order well over 30 mins and we are running on short on time floors are very slippery and It's kind of messy but it is end of day so they properly still me ti do that . Took forever for food to come still on a time limit and they have not check on us once . We the food finally came out the chicken on the chicken on the beach was over cooked and burn . read more

Won't be going back there. The guy looked at us from the back and nodded for us to seat ourselves which we did. Then he proceeded to text someone on his phone for several minutes at which point we almost left. Wish we had. The food tasted like processed frozen pre made food either nuked or deep fried. Not spicy at all. They tossed a little Mexican white cheese on top of everything and called it good. It was not. The chips tasted stale and the salsa was like very mildly spiced tomato sauce. Was hoping for better since there seems to be a few of these scattered about Southern Illinois but quite disappointed. It wasn't horrible but certainly not fresh homemade authentic Mexican. read more

The Taquitos were crisp, meaty, and tasty. Terrific. The service was excellent and they even special made, verde sauce which is not part of their menu. This IS a Mexican restaurant so don't order French Fries. (The 11 yoa decided on fries) They were so so. read more

This is probably some of the worst food and service I have ever had. Aside from the staff being complete dicks the food was terrible. My husband and I each got something different and both meals were basically cafeteria Mexican with shredded lettuce, a few old tomatoes, dried out retried beans and shredded cheese. Gross.
