I was abroad for several months already, and I was badly homesick. Every single French person would tell you the same thing: what they really miss when they're abroad is French food and especially French bread and bakery. (also saucisson, and cheese) One day, some friends of mine showed me this very special place. I was skeptical first, because you can't find true real French bakeries abroad easily. Usually you find croissants which don't taste like croissants in France T___T! I'm not saying there'nt good, just saying that they taste different. But when I came closer I could see the little sticker on the door "Artisan boulanger". Startled I yelled :"no way!!! It's a real French bakery!!" A huge smile on my face, I ordered croissants, pies, Florentins comme à la maison! They taste just like the ones I could buy in France. Such a good quality, such a delight! (*o*) I deeply recommend this place for all those who like French food or for those who just want to have a little taste of France.

As a 6th birthday was being 'celebrated' by the business, a lagniappe sweet chocolate mini profiterole type creation was placed silently in our midst. I wouldn't classify the service as hospitable...more like "functional", a 2.5 rating. Lunch special was a BURGER served with fries, classified as gluten free: we ordered that and a sausage roll, two decaf coffees. (usually the case when it's 'iffy'. innit ) In the past, we'd stopped to pick up wonderful loaves of artisanal bread at Clareville bakery, dined a couple of times, not reviewed. Probably the pick of LOCAL dining spots in this provincial farming area, hence the brisk lunchtime trade.... For us ...we can stop en route anywhere ? Unless we're taking their lovely bread away..... My cousins told me that meat pies are very well known here and I had to try it. As we walked into this cute little quaint bakery, we were greeted by a sweet young girl. I ordered a meat pie (of course) and I wanted something sweet so I also grabbed an Apple Danish Pastry and a drink. They had so many variety of sweet treats to choose from. When I took the first bite of the Meat Pie, "Wow" is all I can say. It was so nice and savory. It was not salty at all, just the right amount. It has a combination of sweet and savory. Loved it. For the Apple Danish, that was also yummy. It reminded me of an American Apple Pie. It had just the right amount of sweetness since I'm not a big fan of super sweet stuff. If you're ever in this area of Wellington, please do stop by and try their Meat Pie. I actually stopped by again to grab some more Meat Pies and pastries to take on the go so I can eat on the plane.
