If you like Alice in Wonderland, you will love Templex Nursery. I discovered this little gem when I was driving around lost along Beenleigh road one day.
You don't have to be a gardener to enjoy this place. Yes, they have a lot of bargain plants for sale but it's just like visiting a botanical garden. The plants are not your standard garden centre range but are cultivated exoticas - once I even saw a thousand dollar Gingko Biloba tree!
The owners are clearly artists because they have giant ceramic sculptures incorporated into the landscape. Some are kitschy, some are a bit naughty but all show the owners have a sense of humour. And just when you think things can't get any odder, you run into their collection of beautiful pheasants.
I told my sister about this place and she took her two kids. My nephew had a ball running around the maze like set up, weaving between trees, ducking under giant ferns, not knowing what plant, animal or sculpture will pop up around the corner.
I could spend hours exploring this place and the owners are so good natured, they probably wouldn't mind.
NB: This nursery is a bit hard to find. There is a sign on Beaudesert Road but it comes up very quickly so you may find yourself doing several u-turns. There's plenty of parking on site though once you eventually find it. read more
