I am a huge fan of Mount Hope Christian School! They take kids from the community starting at 15…read moremonths. We love the community of educators and families that make the school. We feel that our children are safe, loved and being taught the values that represent our family's core values. The corner stone, of course, is that the education is great - my children are equipped with life skills and a solid educational foundation for a bright future. I have three kids: one who went to the toddler program, preschool, pre-K and is now in the elementary school; another is in pre-K; the last will begin preschool when she's 2.9 years old. One thing that continues to impress me is that every single year, we get an awesome group of teachers to instruct and partner with us to raise our kids. most of the classes are pretty small but have consistent and ample staffing to provide a stable and engaging environment. They are accredited by EEC & have a fun but challenging curriculum for each age/grade. Through early Covid, the school reacted and engaged with the students at a very high level online. In fall 2020, they opened back up for in person learning. Our family did not partake in that school year but we missed a lot of things about it and tried to stay informed. The only thing that has made me sad is when families move to public school for elementary and the little friendships and parent relationships fall off. I am encouraged that there is talk of expanding the school to include middle school in the near future and I hope this has an impact on more kids staying. Either way, we know Mount Hope is the right place for us! The facilities are well-kept and have recently been renovated (all of the bathrooms are new and updated and the playground equipment has been recently changed). There is a hot lunch program, which is prepared on site and catered by Burlington famous pizza. There is also for school and after school care options available. It's definitely an investment to get great childcare and education, but it's an investment well worth it! Our kids are our now and our future!

My experience with this school was extremely disappointing…read more My son spent 4 years here and completed 2nd grade unable to read independently. During that time, we trusted the school's guidance, paid thousands of dollars in tuition, and believed he was making academic progress. Only after seeking outside evaluations did we discover that he was significantly behind in reading and writing. In my opinion, this school is not properly equipped to support children who need additional academic help or who have speech and communication delays. Rather than providing meaningful support and intervention, it often felt as though children with extra needs were viewed as a burden. What disappointed me most was the lack of urgency and concern regarding my child's learning progress. As parents, we expected honest communication, early intervention, and a clear plan to help him succeed. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Parents should carefully monitor their child's academic development and ask questions early and often. Do not assume everything is on track simply because your child is being promoted to the next grade. Every child deserves educators who are genuinely committed to their success and willing to provide the support they need to thrive.

To say that WSL is a sect is absurd hyperbole. It shows a complete lack of understanding of what…read morethe Waldorf philosophy is all about and what the word "sect" actually means. WSL is completely non-denominational and ALL religions are represented, taught and respected. The curriculum is in fact secular although Rudolph Steiner was Christian. Staff, administration, teachers, and families come from a wide range of religions and nationalities (over 35!). My children have attended this school for 5 years (and Waldorf schools all of their lives) and we have been more than pleased with the playful, caring, rigorous, and expansive education they have been receiving. In addition, they are media-free. If you're concerned about the effects of media on children, especially these days as it is effecting children in all sorts of unhealthy ways (depression, anxiety, etc.), there is NO other school that understands the research and data better and no school that keeps it out of the classroom (and most families keep it out of their homes). I have worked in media and technology for over 20 years and I send my kids to a Waldorf school. So do the executives in Silicon Valley! That says a lot! NOTE: In Fall, 2017, the school added BUS service in Cambridge and Arlington. If transportation was your only inhibitor, know that you can now get your kids to WSL easily in the mornings! Part of the mission of the bus is also to improve socio-economic and racial diversity at the school, since it is dedicated to this mission, and the school offers financial assistance. If you're at all interested, please visit their website, attend an Open House, or contact Kate in the Admission Officer to schedule a tour. You'll be glad you did!

I can't say enough good things about Growing By Leaps & Bounds! I was nervous about leaving my 4.5 month old with anyone, but my fears were quickly put to rest. Our daughter had colic when she started and it comforted me so much to know that they held Lilli as much as she required (which was a lot!). If I had felt like my child was upset and crying alone, I would have lost it, but they took such good care of her. If she needed to be held, they held her. They also sent lots of pictures and videos of Lilli on a regular basis, so we could see that Lilli was cared for and happy. Abby, the director, and Jenna, the infant teacher, are both moms themselves and are a great blend of personal and professional. You get all the professionalism of a top notch daycare with people that really care about kids and know how to comfort and make them feel safe and cared for. I also really appreciated their advice when Lilli got sick or hit a new developmental stage. Having their input made me feel really supported as a first-time mom. You can't put a price on knowing your child is in good hands, and it has meant so much to me to have peace of mind regarding Lilli's care. We are moving far enough away that we now have to switch daycares and it's so sad! Again, I can't recommend GBLB enough!

This place will always hold a special place in my heart! A few specific things that I want to call out, as I have found them incredibly valuable to me over the years. -GBLB is independently owned. The owner, Abby, is engaged, thoughtful, and incredible with kids. She is easy to contact and responsive. (I feel compelled to mention that she also has expert level face painting skills that each of my kids have loved!) -The staff are equally wonderful and most have been there for the full 10 years we have been at GBLB. I have loved the consistency this has provided my family/kids and they have all been remarkable. -Everyone is communicative and collaborative. I felt like we were all on the same team supporting each of my kids in their individual needs.
