"This is the heart of Camelot, not these stones, not these timbers, these palaces and towers. Burn them all and Camelot lives on, because it lives in us. Camelot is a belief that we hold in our hearts." - First Knight
The Knights of the Round Table, Excalibur, Sir Lancelot, the Game of Thrones. We are fascinated with stories wrapped in Legend from days of yore, to a fantasy world dominated by Wizards and Dragons. The life of good vs. evil. Some based in dreams, many wrapped in mystery, and those who still believe. Some pages are truth. One such novella is the story of the Knights Templar...
"May God grant us the wisdom to discover right, the will to choose it, and the strength to make it endure." -Arthur
It is said one-hundred Knights are buried around and under Temple Church in London, England - no one knows the exact number. It is said all Knights shared the same belief of protecting the weak, duty to the code of honour, and service to the Holy Cross. Established circa 1119. You don't have to be a genius to know this order is nearing 1000 years. Temple Church dates to 1185. Let it absorb...
Temple Church is located between Fleet Street and the River Thames, built by the Knights Templar as their English headquarters. It was consecrated in 1185 by Patriarch Heraclius of Jerusalem. The church might also be familiar for those of you who saw The Da Vinci Code. Yes, "that" church;) I don't know much about hidden symbolism, the St. Clair bloodline, or the hidden story of Mary Magdalene, but I do know what truth is and here...
I was greeted by Reverend Robin Griffith-Jones, Valiant Master of the Temple. A proper gentleman with English lineage dating to the Crusades. Mr. Griffith-Jones is a cordial, informative, with shades of Anderson Cooper sort-of gent. Proud and passionate, but not for one self, instead for the teachings of the Knights Templar. Appointed by the Crown, he resides in the Master's House, a Georgian home built next to the church in 1764.
"You risked your life for another. There is no greater love." - First Knight
Legend says the Knights Templar were protectors of the Holy Grail, keepers of the lost Ark of the Covenant, and the sacred foundation of the most secretive of all secret societies. Wherever truth and myth meet is for you to decide. It is clear the order of the Knights Templar were "Warrior Monks". Fighting in the name of one true God.
"For the first in my life, I wanted what all wise men say can't last; what can't be promised or made to linger any more than sunlight. I don't want to die without having felt its warmth on my face." - First Knight
I highly recommend Temple Church for those into history, medieval architecture, House of Stark, and the legend of the Knights Templar. This is not fiction, it is truth, for I am one to know about this legendary brotherhood. Yet, that's for another moment in time;) And no worries the Illuminati would not dare enter.. with all the Holy Knight spirits that still reside here. In the end, this great order was brought down, not in battle, but by heathens and heretics, greed and jealousy. Rest In Peace my Holy Warriors of Christ...
And never forget, my Lady...
