When my father died unexpectedly in April, she spent hours with me and my family to meet with us, prepare the most beautiful service, and officiate over a funeral that was worthy of his blessed memory. Everyone who attended said that it was the most wonderful funeral service they had ever been to. My son attended the wonderful religious school at Mekor Shalom and recently worked with Hazzan to prepare for his Bar Mitzvah. She is the most patient and wonderful Bar/Bat Mitzvah guide, both for us as parents and for my son. She knew exactly what we/he needed, was amazingly patient, but applied just the right amount of "kind" motivation when necessary - she works with kids where they are in terms of their level of Hebrew ability, without the pressure you find in most congregations. I went regular services and met the people there. Although it is a smaller congregation compared to the more I grew up in, it had a really good feel to it. The word in Yiddish is "hamish" I believe. They were very accepting and it really felt like a family. So glad we came and joined.

We came by to explore a Jewish Food Festival they held here on the grounds of the temple. It was…read morefun and definitely popular with the local community. We were lucky to park at the temple but I think others had to park further away. We arrived 45 minutes before the end so our choices were limited but I'm not complaining. We enjoyed latkes and a falafel pita sandwich. Both were tasty! Next year, I will order some pastrami in advance and chow down!
