"Oh boy." Sabrina Carpenter said it best, and honestly,…read morethose two words sum up my experience at CFIS.Let me be clear. This is MY side of the story. Sure, I probably made things harder for myself at times, but a lot of what happened? That's on the school.Seventh grade started off fine. I was quiet. Minding my own business. I made a friend. It was actually kinda nice. But then in science class, this boy kept bullying me over my Tourette's. Like constantly. I can't control it. I tried to stop it. I told the counselor. They were nice, told me it wasn't okay, said they'd talk to him and handle it. Guess what? They didn't. Nothing happened. He kept going. Eventually he moved on to someone else like it was a game. So yeah, he stopped bullying me. But only because he found a new target. That's not a solution. That's just ignoring the problem until it shifts. Now fast forward to eighth grade. We're supposed to be the oldest, the leaders, the ones setting the example. Yeah right. Drama was everywhere, and the drama I was in? I'm not gonna spill all the details or name names (except for one person, she earned it), but let's just say the school said they'd take it "seriously." Spoiler alert: they didn't. They suspended the wrong kid. Literally punished someone who didn't do anything while the actual problem just got swept under the rug. And now the cherry on top: their "leadership" program. It sounds cute until you're actually in it. It's run by this one teacher -- yeah, I'm name-dropping -- Mrs. Saunders. We were cutting skeletons for an activity, and she starts screaming at this kid in class. Straight up yelling in front of everyone. I went over to ask him if he was okay, but I could tell he didn't feel like talking. Later, he told me he has motor skill issues and struggles with cutting. And instead of helping him, Mrs. Saunders made him clean everything up like he did something wrong. She told him it was "the least he could do. This place is a mess. It's a dumpster fire. No support. No action. Just fake promises and teachers who snap instead of support. If you're thinking about coming here -- don't. CFIS, you need to get it together.

SO if you have more kids on the ESL plan then they receive more Federal Funding? hummmm, yeah real financially smart to retain kids as long as possible. You need to push the counselors around for a IEP otherwise they are lazy and then act dumb. That is after Mr Mom (as known as) the father forwarding them email(s). Requesting an IEP to transition our child to a EO Language arts class. (trust me I could of gone to Dept of Ed or the DISTRICT but other dumb things happened beyond my control) Over all my biggest concern is "The Counselors dept." are found to be lazy. Do you're self a favor and grab a copy of NOLO IEP's for Parents. Otherwise great community as in the neighborhood is safe and many of the kids are nice. My child never reported any other concern. I will wrap it up in a positive note. That the one thing I will always LOVE or have a happy memory of Citrus Intermediate School, is they were extremely nurturing with multicultural kids especially mine. That was just beautiful to see all kind of colors coming together in harmony. Now Imagine that! My child felt she was just like everyone else! They offered a "sense of belonging!" For that!!! I give them a 5 star all the way home. Thank you! For making this a multicultural friendly school. So as you can see why I gave them a 3 star and not a one star. ps. this took place in 2016

And this is just isn't right and the principal had some weird behavior, now I love this school but the school has some questionable behavior. My science teacher has had some questionable behavior and was almost fired but they didn't fire him and still let him teach and let me tell you he doesn't teach, he sits behind the desk not teaching and I come home with Fs in the class and when I come up to him asking about school home work and assignments I am greeted by a trash pick up or the office. Needless to say the school pride is great, half the faculty is great and the principle makes the school feel amazing, I'm honestly glad that Mr Rubio is not going to be there anymore because his behavior is very questionable. The drama teacher has some weird behavior too, he showed are class some inappropriate things and was also suspended. Honestly this school is very meh. It's common for teachers to get suspended and come back because of the poor performance of the school. I would wish to see action taken and more accountability to the school

I think it's sad to see such negative ratings about a school. I almost feel like a few of the…read morereviews were written by students, and aren't actual experiences written by parents. Anyway, I wanted to say that my daughter has had a great experience attending RSM. Sure every school has it's positives and negatives, but Yelp is not the spot to rant and rave about a bad teacher they may have had or an incident where a student got in trouble with the Principal. It is about the overall experience and RSM overall left us with many positive experiences. One thing that I really like is that the school has a great communication system. I like their weekly Roadrunner express emails letting me know all of the school information of what's to be expected that is coming up, currently happening, contact information and just general information. They also send out phone calls and email reminders on early dismissal reminders, holiday schedules, state testing and large school events, so that parents can be extra prepared. It's nice that they almost "over remind" you, just in case you forget as life gets quite busy for many parents with things pulling you in many directions, which seems to be the case these days. I also like the fact that she has made many friends from different schools since I believe that RSM is a culmination of students from Robinson, Trabuco, Cielo Vista, Melinda Heights, Foothill Ranch, and Trabuco Mesa. She will hopefully carry many of these new friendships she has made over onto her four years of high school and onward. It's always good to increase your elementary school circle of friends with new faces. Yes, not every school is for everyone and RSM is definitely not perfect by any means, but I say don't knock it until you try it. Mr. Bjorek, Ms. Gibson, and Mr. Morgan are great Principals and work hard to try and make RSM Intermediate a great place for the students.
