A ski lodge/hotel/restaurant located at 2600 metres altitude, there are three ways you can arrive…read morehere : via a ski lift, by climbing the mountain, or by phoning ahead and having the owner pick you from Sestriere Borgata on his skidoo. Do not try and drive to the hotel; there is no road- but with blue, red, and black runs within easy reach, it's not bad as a ski-in/ski-out location.
During the day, there is a bar/cafe, an array of cafeteria style food ( think Italian staples - pasta, panini, soup etc), and a sit down restaurant with table service. In the evening, you're left with the bar and restaurant. Set menu in the evenings includes a starter, a pasta course, a meat or fish, and dessert. Suffice it to say you will not go hungry, although vegetarians may very well struggle. The wine list leans heavily to Italian, including some interesting local Piedmontese wines. The current chef, it should be noted, is from Naples.
Rooms are functional but reasonably comfortable- be sure to get thee heating on when you check in ( it gets very very cold up here at night). If you need anything, speak to Massimo ( he of the skidoo) ; a jovial character who nonetheless doesn't suffer fools gladly.
