After endless days of meat dairy and carbs, I am so glad to have found Tushita Teehaus. The food is…read moreamazing, the tea is yummy and best of all, free wi-fi! We ordered the special of the day, Indian themed rice bowl with raita, marsala, and plums. I have to be honest I didn't think it would be good with the plums, but I was so wrong. This dish is so good I wish I had room for 2 bowls. We also ordered the seiten sandwich, it was nice but I would get the rice bowl again next time. I had the early gray rooibos and my friend had the chai, then for desert we got the apple strudel which they added this blended soy cream with cinnamon on top, sehr gut! Our server was extremely friendly, he even took the time to write down a couple of places in Germany that we should checkout. I really loved my experience at Tushita Teehaus, I would definitely go back again before I leave Munich.

This place is about tea and if tea is not your thing you will not find much else here. They have a 26 page tea menu with green, white, black, oolong just to name a few and there is a reasonably good description of each of the varieties in the menu. Unfortunately it's all in German. The staff speak good English and quite helpful with explanations, just in case you are unsure or, don't understand the meaning. They have a ton of nice tea pots and cups and all kinds of tea related accessories in the shop you buy and, you can also buy teas, I think. I love tea specially Asian teas and I had one of the Chinese varieties of ooolong and it was a wonderful cup of tea. The others who were with me had the smoothie special (it's more like a lemonade than a smoothie) and it was made to order and they loved it. The place was packed when we arrived and there was a whole table of Japanese ladies having tea (a big cultural thing in Japan). A great find in Munich for tea lovers. I will definitely be back here to work through the 26 page menu ;-))

Picture it: my first week in Munich. Surrounded by carnivale treats, and just the typical Bavarian…read morefare (bread, so much bread. sugar, so much sugar. nuttellllllllllla). ...and... I managed to find the only "real" cupcake shop in the entire city. When I learned that Robin W had NEVER tried this cutesy "delicacy" we made a beeline for Wir Machen Cupcakes, and did away with that little problem forever! Now don't worry, surely I'm going to try all the wonderful Bavarian desserts and pastries...at least a bite of each. I promise. But, cupcakes called and we answered. It's not inauthentic, it's research. We had to go and make sure this stuff was the real deal. Well I did, since Robin wouldn't have known...but you get the idea. And I am here to attest: the cupcakes at Wir Machen are EXCELLENT. A bit of backstory: I don't even really LOVE cupcakes. I get the idea, I love sweets...etc, etc. But I could never really get down with the trendy cupcake thing in the states. Sure I've enjoyed a cupcake or two (or 50) in my day and I'd never turn one down, but I was never one to be all drooly wooly (fanatical) over them. Honestly, a bit too sweet. That was always my complaint... Well, Wir Machen made my dreams come true...as Germans aren't as prone to the overly-sweet tastes of Americans/Aussies, etc, they tempered the recipe. And I am here to divulge, it's RIGHT on the money. I had the coconut flake cupcake, and it was dreamy. Soft, creamy, melt-in-your-mouth, perfectly portioned. Have mercy, really. I will go back and try some others. The shop itself is beyond adorable with a chic comfortable vibe. It is quite small though, so be warned. 4 chairs and 2 small tables...I'm sure in the summer months the sidewalk is fair game as well. They also serve coffee, of course. It would be the perfect treat to sit here with a mini cake and espresso for just a few minutes to stop time. It would. German cupcakes. Can and will be done, here. Approved. Price a little over 3euro/each. Oh, and Robin obviously approves of his first cupcake...you can read his review for more. You're welcome Mr. W!

If you REALLY concentrate and try not to be distracted by all the cute details in the shop to…read moreobjectively judge the cupcakes, then you'll probably draw the conclusion that they're really nothing special (in my opinion this applies to cupcakes in general). Cupcakes are basically a tiny muffin with a very very greasy topping. In the specific case these tiny muffins are also very expensive. The above follows from the fact that I'm more a person of substance, less of form. I admit that the little place is cute and the idea to open here a little shop dedicated to the greasy American specialty with all the creative toppings is original. I'd give 4 stars only to this idea. That said, the place is so tiny that it gets claustrophobic if just 2-3 customers are in line for cupcakes. And it can also take AGES before it's your turn since the waiters (super nice and friendly, this must be said) also have to make and serve coffee to the people occupying the two tables in the back. I don't want to give a bad review, it's just that Wir Machen Cupcakes is yet again one of those places that suddenly becomes fashionable in this city and everyone says great things about but there's no real objective basis for that. A typical Munich thing.
