Yes, I definitely wish there were more artifacts, posters and clothing on display, but that's just because I'm a lover of any and all things 60s era, so anything original to the time period just plain excites the dickens out of me and makes me think and ponder socio-economic conditions, and life in general, during America's past 100 years even more, haha. The museum is next to the Sherman house, a historical home with its own significance. There's plenty of free street parking if the small lot next to DACO happens to be full. I believe it was $11 to see their spotlight exhibit. If you're an art/history buff, I recommend you take a day stroll down to Lancaster and stop here; anything of historical significance is always worth patronizing, imo.

As part of the exhibit, I took a flower arranging class at the art education center on the museum property. Our instructors Brooke and Elizabeth were very knowledgable and gave us lots of helpful tips for working with flowers at home. Elizabeth provided all of the fresh flowers from her floral design business and farm (Bluegreen Gardens) and they were gorgeous. Admission to the Decorative Arts Center is free. On the weekends, they are open Saturdays and Sundays 1-4 pm. The staff is made up of volunteers and they are always fantastic.

I'm so glad I did as this was a real treasure. The Central Ohio Military Museum has a tremendous collection of military memorabilia, uniforms, gear, weapons, medals, even the door from a naval ship. And it's all in such a small facility where it is densely packed with information, captions, written descriptions and more. This free museum - donations encouraged - is a wonderful resource and it's a shame to think that I might have missed it if not for being detoured off the interstate to Harrisburg. This museum has a varied and well-curated collection of glass pieces, arranged in a creative way. For instance, in the main room, the glass pieces are arranged by color, and show how different elements on the periodic table influence the color of glass. I don't remember half of the stuff I was told, but I do know that if I come across a piece of glass that's a glowing green color, I should probably think twice about being anywhere near it because it could be radioactive! Because it might have uranium in it. Yikes. It's really cool to learn how the natural elements and materials in the earth affect glass, which is also a natural material that is derived from the earth. Glass is a gift from the earth, which is the lesson that I learned from this museum. This isn't the most kid-friendly museum (because breakable things and kids do not mix), and I think my children were done after about 10 minutes. So if you want to stay and read the signs and learn about glass, I recommend visiting without young people with short attention spans. One of the neat aspects about the Ohio Glass Museum is that they have glass blowing classes, which you can sign up for or sit in the bleachers and watch other people do glass blowing. They also have an amazing gift shop, where you can find all kinds of glass gifts, like ornaments made my local artists, glass trinkets and lots more.

General William Tecumseh Sherman grew up here and then lived in the home with his family. It has been lovingly restored with many of the families own belongings. Each tour is guided and narrated by a local knowledgeable docent. You get plenty of details about how they lived, who they socialized with, (Henry Clay and Daniel Webster) as well as historical information about Lancaster. Furnishings are beautiful with pieces dating back to the 1800's. This is a must do when you visit.

They were open, it was a nice day, I had free time. Walking in was, for me, like going home. I used to volunteer at an air museum, and this had the same feel: friendly, knowledgeable people, mostly retired. Planes and artifacts wedged in a smallish space. The sounds, sights, and smells of aviation. And, a few familiar "faces": a couple of planes from our museum ended up here. One of them, a Culver Cadet, hung in the Columbus airport terminal for years, so many people will recognize it: yellow with red stripes, it was built in Columbus in the '40s. They also have several Stinsons, a gyrocopter, a 3/4 scale P-51 replica, and a Folland Gnat. I gnew Gnats were small, but standing beside it really makes that obvious. It could almost fit in my garage, and yet was an effective fighter. Outside was a Pober Baby Ace homebuilt, and a Beech 18 (look for that as you drive up.) They also have several military vehicles, lots of uniforms, a reading room, etc. There's a helicopter school next door, so there was also the noise and activity of a typical small airport. Stop by and see them, and soak up some aviation history. They have an open house in May with free plane rides for kids.

Mainly a museum, with small offices in back and a meeting room that has some artifacts in it. An old bank building, and one of the displays is inside the vault. Everything very nicely arranged and marked. One room set up as a parlor, one with kitchen stuff, one with sports stuff, etc. A beautiful model T in the center of the building. Super friendly staff. I learned a few things. I would definitely come back. And I recommend this to anyone interested in Grove City or Central Ohio history. It's a half hour or so of your time, and free. Open Tuesday through Saturday I think. Free street parking.
