What a fascinating place. I spent a few charming hours with friends enjoying wine and beers in the entryway to the ground level of Teatreneu this past Saturday. And what an interesting locale it is! On the ground level you'll find a vast, raucous bar. Make sure to look up--the ceiling is laden with old set suspended over the whole space--a wonderful nod to this spot's other purpose--as an actual theatre! As the night drew on and we continued to imbibe on the front terrace, under the cover of the theatre's inviting archway, theatre-goers began to line up to buy their tickets for what was, presumably, a play going on upstairs, in what is still today a theatre. The bar is noisy, and more beer-hall than bodega. Nevertheless, it's a spot I would definitely go back to, especially if I'm in the neighborhood. That said, I don't know if my wine (or the pricing) would justify a trek up to Gràcia just for a few hours of hangout at Teatreneu. It's cool, it's fun, but did I mention it's loud? Something to think about. All in all, it's a safe bet if you're looking for fun (or culture!) in the 'hood! read more
