Waste of money. This is the worst chicken teriyaki I've ever had in my life. Don't come here.

I go here pretty frequently, the staff is pretty awesome! The food is pretty good too! I'm not a fan of their hot foods, but love their sushi! The fish is always thick cut! and when ever i order sushi they give me the belly side of the yellow tail! The tuna is fresh too! They also have done custom orders for me. I got hamachi kama; something non one else in the valley offers! When ever you order beer they always open the bottle for you as well! The owners are also very nice people, they always give me service edemame. And the best part to it all is that they are open late! read more

Honestly, I was given the worst sushi I've ever tasted and the worst service ever, summing it up to my worst restaurant experience. The sushi was disgusting, my avocado has black spots over it, the tuna tasted old and I wish I could have been able to tell this but the lighting of this place is dim in the back. The rice wasn't cooked properly, a bit hard in some places and were mushed when rolled up. We asked for low sodium soy sauce and what it looked like was poison when it came out. When I accidentally spilled some on the white table cloth, it looked like black ink! ....... Isn't soy sauce suppose to be brown? At least when it's a kikkoman soy sauce. Most likely it was some other sauce put into a kikkoman bottle because that did not taste like soy sauce. Service was not the greatest, unless you like abrupt, loud and grouchy waitresses. At one point, I was asked what I had on my plate by my company. Before I could respond, the waitress pointed at my food, finger nearly touching my food, shouted the name and scurried off. Other than that, she wasn't quite present until the bill came, probably because she was eating, she did come to our table with a mouthful of food later on. Then she watched us like a hawk when we were leaving tip. How uncomfortable because... Her tip was not that great. Too bad, because we usually tip 20%. I felt even worse for her when leaving, when I stood up, I saw that she seemed quite haggard and an unhappy person in general. I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and thinking her life must suck for that type of attitude. Anyways If the food was delicious, I would come back but noooooope. read more

We were in town from NYC and ended up having dinner at Teapot. The hot and sour seafood soup was very good but everything else was really really salty. They seated us on the upper level in front of a drafty window that had us all freezing. Service was decent but nothing great. If we're in town again, we will probably not dine here again, nor do I recommend it. read more

This place was awesome when I first went here in 2002-2003. Not quite as good anymore, but not bad either. I ordered some dumplings (Har Gow- steamed shrimp dumplings and veggie dumplings). They were pretty good- the dumpling skin was a bit too thick, but the fillings and sauce were pretty good. read more

Atrocious. We came for lunch and I have never been more disappointed with a meal. The wonton soup was flavorless; my partner's miso soup was watered down and lukewarm. The tea is basically hot water. Sweet and sour chicken was essentially fried parts of the chicken that nobody would consume knowingly, with terrible, ketchup-esque sauce ON THE SIDE. The chicken was not even dressed. The rice was not jasmine rice, more like Uncle Ben's. To add insult to injury, the chicken particles had a large obscured bone in one piece, which nearly caused me to break my tooth. I will never come here again. Frankly, you'd have to indulge in the wine menu before eating this food and tolerating it. I almost considered sending the food back and not paying for it, but I understand it's really not the server's fault. I only have been to this place once and I will be coming back for more. The atmosphere is decent and the food is great. They have a pretty nice bar. I had a very pleasant experience when I was there. The employees and the managers were very nice. All in all, I would recommend other peeps to try this place out when they're looking for a good sushi restaurant to eat out. read more

The Teapot is my absolutle go-to place to eat when I'm in Northampton. I'm completely baffled by the negative reviews. The menu items are very reasonably priced and varied--I've eaten a full lunch here for less than twenty dollars. The food is delicious--my favorites are the dumplings, soups, and orange chicken, and I've never eaten sushi that wasn't chilled, fresh, and decoratively served. I usually order the sake, which is superb. The atmosphere is cozy but spacious, with a large fish tank in the front, and when the weather is nice, they open up the sliding doors so you can look out onto the street. Service is pretty quick for appetizers, and the waitstaff have always been terrific and pleasant. Prices are slightly lower than at Osaka's too, so it's more of a casual option if you're in the mood for Asian. read more

I will probably not stop going to Teapot, but it needs to be said- the service here is ABOMINABLE. My boyfriend is vegetarian, so we hem and haw about good places to eat around town. He and I enjoy going to Teapot together, when we have the money. That is, we enjoy the idea of it. Once we actually get inside Teapot, we remember how mean your wait staff are, how they bark at you and slam down plates of food in front of you, how they rush you out the door. There are so many other Chinese/Japanese/Thai/Vietnamese restaurants on this street. For good service I'd recommend any and all above Teapot. The actual food here is hit or miss. Cold noodles are to die for. You never know with the sushi rolls. Delivery service is impeccable with both timing and friendliness. Eat it in the comfort of your own home. When I Called previously for delivery. My food was OK and delivery was reasonable but 1 wk ago when I Called at lunch I was confused on how to order off their lunch menu as it's not clearly written on what's included for choices and the man who took my phone order became unpleasant and argumentative when I was trying to figure this out . I tried to explain my confusion because English was not his first language but to no avail , And when food arrived everything but my soups which were kind of warm, was room temp not even warm and my pork fried rice was tasteless and greasy . Plus they are expensive . So I advise patience and a microwave and double check the menu before you order . And they don't substitute . I have never eaten at the Teapot until tonight. A few friends said it was great. Basically they bit off more than they could chew. We were seated next to a very large party. Very loud atmosphere that made me feel I was in a club. Waitress did not get me the soup I ordered. Food was OK at best. Dissapointed overall. We've been coming here for years and the food has been decent with large portions, normally can't finish our meals. But starting a couple of months ago the meal sizes have shrunk to approximately half their usual size. This happed twice for take out orders. We won't be back. The last time I ate at the Teapot was seven years ago and it was delicious. We even ordered from there frequently from work. I ate there last night and it was awful. Our waiter treated us as if we were bothering him. The food tasted like chemicals. The bathroom was dirty and walking by the kitchen it was not any cleaner than the bathroom. Eew. The Teapot is little if any better than a Formica counter strip mall Chinese restaraunt bearing a name like Golden Lucky Panda Wok III. They have duck, real soy sauce and no french fries, but attitudes towards freshness and ingredient quality are similar. I distinctly remember eating here a while back and being astonished by the food my friend was served. Her beef was all gristle, looked like dog food, and tasted acrid. Close to inedible, gross Vienna Sausage sketch. Went here recently for sushi with a friend. My green salad was iceberg, not seaweed. The rolls were made with mushy, unseasoned rice. The panko crust was mushy and did not crunch, and the salmon inside was turning gray and smelled fishy. Like cheap supermarket sushi that's been sitting for a few days. My friend's dish tasted of cheap, industrial sauce... which it was swimming in, too. For what it's worth, he liked his meal and thought my sushi was alright too. One star for not disgusting my friend, one star for the really low lunch special price. read more

I tried sushi for the first time tonight and actually liked it! I had a tuna roll and I was terrified but the taste, texture, and consistency were spot on! But first things first: My boyfriend and I went to Teapot after being told there would be a fifteen minute wait for a table at Osaka. Quite hungry and impatient, we took a stroll and ended up here. We were seated immediately and given drinks (me - an okay-tasting Shirley Temple, my boyfriend - a 22 oz Kirin Ichiban). The waiter was a definite hoverer to the point where we had to shoo him away a few times before I even got a chance to open my menu. I opted to order the Chicken Tempura which came with the house salad (iceberg lettuce, cukes, onions, carrots, and a house ginger dressing.) I asked for no cukes on my salad and inquired as to whether I could substitute avocado instead. I even offered to pay extra. No, it seems, I could not. Many menu items listed avocado in them, so I KNOW they had it on the premises, so this irked me a bit. The salad was fine even without avocado, nothing special, but the house ginger dressing was to die for. Its neon orange color might turn some off aesthetically, but it is sweet, thick, and delicious. The miso soup that came with my meal was also some of the better soup I've had in the area and the white rice was average. My boyfriend ordered the Sushi Deluxe which consisted of 10 pcs of sushi and a tuna roll, also served with miso soup. He found the dish "pretty good" but was surprised by the squid which does not usually make an appearance in these types of platters. When our food arrived, I was surprised to note that my Chicken Tempura platter not only included chicken (which they had cleverly shaped to look like shrimp...even fashioning tiny tails!) but it also included veggie tempura. Okay, cool. Green bean tempura? Not cool. Red pepper tempura? Disgusting. Sweet potato, onion, and cuke/zucchini tempura are delish. Broccoli tempura is not but at least I was expecting it. Anywho, the tempura batter was delicious, slightly less greasy than other places, which I enjoyed. The chicken tasted fresh and the batter was crispy. I was underwhelmed by the "tempura sauce": it was really thin and too sweet and tasted like some sort of awkward combination of soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, and eel sauce. The bf and I both saved some food to take home for a midnight snack. At the end of our meal, we received fortune cookies (always a plus for me because I LOVE fortune cookies) and we ended up with five fortunes between two cookies...JACKPOT! The decor is neat, leaving you feeling like you're in some sort of communist area with entirely red walls. But the effect is very cool. Not my favorite, but I'd go back. P.S. Teapot was okay for a while, but it has fallen completely apart and should be avoided. You can luck out and get some okay items, but between the bizarre and terrible service (once had flies not just in MY water glass, but in ALL FOUR people at the table's, once had a waitress that began visibly shaking/vibrating her entire body when explaining we had to order from the dinner menu that day even though it was 12:30pm instead of the lunch menu because it was Martin Luther King Day) and the strange smelling/looking food that comes from a kitchen that is closed off and in the basement, there's really no reason to chance it. My friend and I were up in this area visiting. We usually go to Viva Fresh Pasta but it's closed on a Sunday for lunch :( !!!!! We just decided to walk around and find a place. Consistently good, prompt service. My mom and I love sushi and have had all sorts of rolls and sashimi from almost every sort of place (even the grocery store lol) but this is always our go-to. This time, we split the crispy duck salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. It was regular iceberg lettuce with cucumbers and carrots, with ginger dressing and a generous portion of perfectly cooked and fried duck on top. Neither of us had eaten all day, so we decided to split three rolls (one of them was a special roll) as well which was the perfect amount for us. The special roll we got was the Smith roll, and it was definitely worth the extra few dollars compared to other rolls. Staff is a little abrupt, but not necessarily rude, and they get their job done just fine. read more

Restaurant is very run down. Broken window latches made for a very chilly dining experience. Chairs were wobbly and broken as well. Food was not great. Fried rice and soup were okay. Sushi was less than mediocre and shrimp tempura was floppy and tasteless. My kids enjoyed the beef teriyaki and sesame chicken but we will not be returning anytime soon. Teapot, a now classic Resto downtown in Northampton that benefits more from its location rather than its dining experience. Food: They have Asian food here. The typical mish mash of Moo Shoo pancakes, Lo Mein, Sushi, etc. None of it is particularly well prepared, nor is it anything different from others downtown that do it better. It tastes good, but for your Sushi go to Osaka, for your lunch specials go to Taipei and Tokyo. Their Sake selection is dim, and the beer is expensive (Asian beer isn't good enough to pay the extra $$ on the import) Go there with your friends to share a few dishes, the inside is nice. It doesn't have that typical Chinese Street Mall feel of veneer and steel tables while two people in back smother everything in fish sauce and corn oil. It wins on location and decoration, but not on food - which is why I go places to pay people to cook for me! read more

I'm sad to say that I will never order food or dine in this restaurant again. Tonight, I ordered some dinner for delivery--with a 40 minute wait time. No big deal--it's raining and it's dinner time. After the 40 minutes was up, the delivery person called to say she went to the wrong address, and it would be an additional hour. I called the restaurant back to cancel the order--by the time it would reach me, it would be almost 2 hours and the food would be cold. The woman who answered was mean and nasty. She started yelling at me, about the driver's incompetence, about my impatience, or at least that's all I could make out because she was yelling so loudly I couldn't understand her. She was out of control. Then she hung up on me. I tried to call back but no one would answer. I wanted confirmation that my card would not be charged. I called my credit card company and the rep tried to call. She too was hung up on. The only saving grace was the driver, who called back a few times to give me information and was extremely apologetic. The other reviewers have commented on the quality of food, which has declined over the years but I still liked it. Others commented on customer service and until tonight I had no problems. The owner, Michael, needs to figure out his staff. He's lost many customers already and will likely continue to lose them. Bummer-- a few years ago, the place was awesome. read more

I used to eat here regularly, but not anymore. Though they do have some reasonably priced lunch specials, they're a pricey placed to eat at. The decor is very nice, so I have no complaints about it. The main thing that stopped me from coming here though, is the VERY slow service. It's especially bad on the weekends. The problem seems to be that they're understaffed. The food they serve, is generally okay. I highly recommend their grilled lamb chop platter, BBQ pork ribs, and orange chicken plate. Any dish that I've ordered with noodles in it was tasty, but always flooded with too much sauce. I've had Asian food that's better than here, but I've also eaten at worst places. Overall, it's a fair to middlin' dining experience here. Keep in mind too, that you shouldn't eat here, if you're in a hurry. read more

I headed to Tea Pot after seeing that Osaka had a long wait (I know Osaka has the best sushi in Northampton but I was in a rush). I knew Tea Pot wouldn't be busy but I was not expecting to be literally the only person in the restaurant. To keep this brief I ordered a sushi deluxe, which took about 20 minutes to show up. Someone came in, got food to go and left before I got my food. The waitress was unfriendly. She and the gentleman (who seemed like the owner) were having quite the loud and animated conversation while I waited. Once the sushi came out it was mediocre as I expected. This place used to be great years ago- now I am surprised it's even able to stay open. read more

Tea pot has choices of Japanese Sushi and Chinese food. It's very similar to it's neighborhood restaurant Tai Bei and Tokiyo. Food are good but not too impressive. It's good to remember by telling them not to put MSG in their food. A nice walk to the picture and words museum is a fun thing to do after. read more

Make sure your dumplings are cooked inside. After breaking open 3 and eating the part that was cooked the waitress came by - I told her they were raw. I think the must have microwaved the centers first, then brought me back three dumplings instead of six. I'm just going to pay and leave this once very good restaurant forever. read more

Ordered the pad thai, teriyaki beef sticks, and wonton soup.....The pad thai noodles taste burnt, the beef sticks were so painfully dry I could barely eat all four, and the wonton soup and no flavor at all. I'm a college student and not usually picky with Chinese food but this was rough. read more

The food was not good. Chicken wings had no flavor, the sushi had dried chives on the top of it, and the gran marnier shrimp wasn't what it use to be.
