A few things: You said I booked a $25 beard trim. What I actually booked was a $32 (obviously,…read morebefore the reversal). I can show you the receipt. You said I was 11 minutes late. 11 minutes. Most dentists, doctors' offices, and social services offices provide a grace period of 15 minutes. That's a reasonable accommodation for traffic conditions. Even still, being 11 minutes late has nothing to do with me not having an empty chair when I got there. I could understand if it was 20 minutes. I arrived early to my 1st and 2nd appointments; and, the 1st appointment was good , which is why I booked the 2nd. I still waited 30-40 minutes before the second appointment began. On my 3rd appointment, I waited 10 minutes until the receptionist was off the phone just to be checked in and told that another barber would be completing my service. I said OK and was told he was finishing up. I waited another 10 minutes (while I read the reviews of the lounge) before I walked out. If we are talking about punctuality, I'll give you the 11 minutes, and you still owe me some time. I guess all those other people in the reviews complaining about your double-booking were 11 minutes late as well. You already stated in your own words, "To feel slighted is absolutely understandable and I will personally own that." There is nothing more to say after that. To accuse me of being condescending when all I am doing is telling my side tells me two things. #1, you don't know what condescending means. And #2, you don't know what accountability means. Lastly, I have never seen or spoken with a Lozell S. I spoke with a woman that day. I did not get her name. I was never asked, nor was I ever offered an opportunity to speak with the owner. If I had, I would have taken that opportunity. I am a reasonable person. I asked her if I could receive 50% back. She said no refunds. I said OK. She never mentioned a refund at all. I took it like a life lesson, and I left peacefully. I did not know I had been given a refund until after I left my initial review. Even then, I only asked for 50% back. If anyone says anything different, it is a lie. I did receive the deposit back, and it is appreciated. To anyone reading this: Read my comment carefully. Then read the response from the owner. Then ask yourself if you really want to take the chance of having to deal with this. A professional owner would have stopped at "To feel slighted is absolutely understandable, and I will personally own that." Instead, this owner would rather call the customer a liar in a Yelp review. Read the other reviews and ask yourself if you think I'm lying. This has been wild.

Oh My Guuuuuudddd!!! Please Do Not Go to this barbershop…read more I had the worst haircut in here and literally walked out in tears today. I came to this barbershop cuz i was in a rush to get a haircut cuz my regular younger incredibly talented barber were booked and i didn't wanna wait till 5pm. Well i paid the price, even after i showed pictures and communicated really well the poor older dude still could not get it right. After we established that he messed up my haircut, i was waiting for him to redeem himself in shaping up my beard and he still failed miserably. I honestly couldn't believe that i made this stupid mistake coming here. I shoulda gotten up from the chair when i realized he messed up the haircut but instead i gave him a chance to shape my beard and just fucked me up all the way. I tried to be nice and smiled even though i was about to cry. I still paid him the 40 dollars cuz i'm human but the truth is he didn't deserve a dime. This Barber shop is run by old men who thinks they can cut hair but oh god they barely know how to hold a clipper properly and barely know how use a razor. Go to a Barbershop with younger barbers as they're usually highly trained to cut modern haircuts for men with superb ability to fade and shape your beards. I ignored the reviews before i came to this place and i paid the price. It's really really bad!!! I cant wait for 2-4 weeks already for my hair to grow to where i need it to be so i can go back to my usual barber and apologize!!! Why God? Why did i make such bad decision today.

The barbers were nice the two that cut me and my do hair but they were too inexperienced and they did horrible jobs they charged too much for the horrible haircuts that they gave although they were nice it's the worst haircut I've ever had and I usually don't even leave reviews but I had to leave a review about this it was disgusting.

I waited in the car with our daughter as he went inside to cut his hair with his brother. My boyfriend left extremely unsatisfied with the way the barber cut his hair. He had no idea what he was doing and seemed to lack the common sense of giving a person a haircut. The haircut was not symmetrical and he didn't blend the fade (asked for a skin fade that faded into a 1). Save yourself the hassle and DO NOT COME HERE. Btw my boyfriend's hair is his identity and now he is thinking of going bald based of this experience.

Prior to its existance, the only downtown shops were hidden away in big buildings. One would not know unless one worked there, or were referred. John Laurie found the old side entrance to the Rockefeller building and saw a downtown shop! He had his own family barber and styling shop in the suburbs for over 20 years. He was excited! He loved the city he came from. Loved the people. And LOVED Indians baseball. He was a great hair artist, as well as father, friend, and husband. His vision was a shop for everyone. No matter who you were. Everybody was welcome. And he trained and had trained with the best of the best barbers all around. The Metzger brothers. Craig Scheffer, and Donna Sutton. Donna is still there if I'm correct. Combined they had over 150 years in the business and were known as the best ones in the city. Much respect to his vision, his legend and his guidance. His vibe might not still be there, but I guarantee that his heart and soul still exists. And may every barber that gets to work in that space contribute to the people the same quality of work and commitment that made his dream become reality.
