Keeping in mind that I live in California where we get multiple dueling boba shops within the same…read moreplaza, Tea Time was passable. (I really am spoiled by the high quality tea shops in my home state.) I usually get my first drink at a place at whatever the recommended sweetness level is to get a feel for the baseline sweetness level, and Tea Time is sweeter than I am used to, but they do offer sweetness adjustment, so that's just something to keep in mind. I wasn't in a fruity mood, so I got the toasted brown sugar milk tea, and it really just tasted like a normal milk tea to me (but with extra sugar)? The molasses-y flavor of brown sugar was barely there, even at the recommended sweetness level, and I felt the boba was a little over-done and slightly mushy, but it may have been an off day since it was a weekday in a colder season and the shop didn't have many visitors while we were there drinking our tea--higher turnover usually means fresher boba in any boba shop. Overall, a reasonable boba shop if you need to satisfy the craving while in the area. Since I visit Rochester annually to see my husband's family, I figure I will be back again some other year, and I look forward to seeing the Rochester boba scene grow.

I tried my usual default Jasmine Milk Tea w/ tapioca (confirmed it was lactose free). The drink was light but still milky, didn't taste too watery. Had a strong jasmine flavor and a mild tea bitter aftertaste. The tapioca was soft but chewy and didn't harden up. Excited to try their other flavor next time!

The Soloist's Symphony: A Quiet Triumph at Wabi Sabi In the…read morelandscape of Rochester's culinary scene, where sprawling dining rooms and corporate gloss often dominate, Wabi Sabi offers a radical and refreshing contrast. This is a "quaint" location in the truest sense of the word--a small, intimate space where the distractions of the outside world fall away, leaving only the focused craft of the kitchen. Visiting during the mid-afternoon lull, I found myself the sole patron in the house, a circumstance that afforded a rare and friendly dialogue with the man behind the curtain. The owner here is a true culinary soloist, operating as chef, waiter, and proprietor all at once. It is a one-man show executed with a quiet pride that is palpable the moment you strike up a conversation. The meal began with an appetizer of calamari that can only be described as a masterclass in texture. Cooked to absolute perfection and served piping hot, it was finished with a sophisticated drizzle that provided a balanced, nuanced counterpoint to the crisp exterior. It was a promising overture to the main event: a special Poke bowl. This was a vibrant assembly of tuna, cucumber, carrots, and avocado over rice--a dish that relied on the pristine quality of its ingredients and the precision of its assembly. It was, quite simply, delicious. The seating here is limited, a physical constraint that suggests the owner values quality over sheer volume. While I can easily see the room reaching capacity during peak hours, Wabi Sabi is perfectly positioned as a premier destination for those looking to take a high-caliber lunch or dinner to go. "In the Japanese tea ceremony, 'Wabi-Sabi' is the art of finding beauty in imperfection and profundity in nature." -- Unknown The owner of this establishment should be deeply proud of the standard he has set. For the locals of Rochester who have yet to discover this gem, I offer a high recommendation. It is a reminder that some of the most profound culinary experiences aren't found in grand halls, but in small rooms where the chef is close enough to tell you his story. The poke bowl did have some good flavor. However, I was a bit underwhelmed with the quality of tuna. There wasn't much complexity to the dish. The place is known for their ramen. So I would go for that next. Ambience is like a vintage oriental hut. Not much seating but a good place to do a casual date.

So I'm making this review after being one of the first customers on opening day and just going to…read morethe store again today. Pros: Flavor and texture are great. As the only spot in Rochester, this is quite good on having a variety of flavors rotating weekly. Wish they had some staple flavors and that the donuts were made to order but that's okay. I do appreciate the unique flavors they offer. The ambience is nice to hang out. They do offer WiFi in the store and the password is near the main cash register Cons: Service has not been great. It's something that will greatly change the experience. Both times I've been there the staff do not work efficiently. The orders of just donuts should take a minute or two. However, I believe they operate to complete the order and move to the next. The cash register prompts to give gratuity but the staff really don't do much besides take your order. The Ube boba has a weird aftertaste. And the cup (though cool) isn't great for navigating to get all the boba. Overall, I really want this place to thrive here. With a better plan for a more efficient operation, I would definitely rate this higher.

The donuts looked so fresh and there was a huge variety. I know some of the reviews on their corn dogs and bubble tea are mixed. I didn't try either. However, I will say that whenever I go to a place, I tend to get what it's most known for. Mochinut is known for their donuts, so I got a 12 pack of donuts to-go. There was no wait when I went. We took them home and they tasted sooo delicious and fresh - on par with mochi donuts I've had in the Twin Cities. Absolutely loved them. My favorite flavors that I've tried so far are the Strawberry and Oreo - but you really can't go wrong. Highly recommend and I'll definitely be getting more in the future.
