Unlike some states (cough, cough, Nevada and…read moreArizona), Texas allows for digital fingerprinting so long as you use certain vendors, and that is a much preferable experience over ink fingerprinting. Scheduling was very easy. The whole process is online, so you set up your account, and they have all the information they need to open your file. No filling out papers when you arrive! Also, you know exactly what to bring to your appointment, so everything is very efficient. I arrived early. I was told to wash my hands, and then wait in the inner waiting room. I waited about 5 minutes, and then I was brought into a cubby That whole process took less than 5 minutes, and afterwards, I didn't have to scrub ink off my hands, so I was delighted. Also, as everything is digital, the computer program is making sure that the fingerprints captured are adequate, so there's less chance of having to repeat the process because of smudges, etc. (Which did happen to me last year when I applied for my Arizona license and delayed the application by over a month.) Services aren't cheap, but if I'm spared a repeat trip for inadequate fingerprinting, I'll consider it well worth the money.
