I advised them that the initial email I received stated to fill out the paperwork they provided and that it would be submitted to the attorney for review to determine if this is something that I could be assisted with. Their response, once again, was they could not take on any pro bono or contingency cases. WHAT?! I explained that at no time did I ask for a pro bono or contingency case, that I was advised to fill out the paperwork and it would be presented to the attorney, and that at no time was there mention of a fee for that service of determining if they could assist me. *Cue the backpedal* It is here that I am told the attorney will review it without fee but any consultation will be $175 for 1/2 hour and that if it is not something that they can help with they will not schedule a consultation. I pointed out that this was a complete 180 from where we had been and that I would await the review of my documents. At this point they apologized and said they just wanted to give a "heads up" that there may be fees. Look, I am all for having all the information upfront so there are zero surprises; however, let's be honest, the whole interaction was unprofessional, rude, disrespectful, and inappropriate. I don't know if this is a training issue or if this is just normal for this law practice, but I, for one, did not appreciate it. I am awaiting the review, but do not have any semblance of hope.
