In 2022, my elderly mother turned to Tax Mechanic for help when the CRA pursued her for GLGI donations. CRA was preparing to take money directly from her paycheque, and she was understandably terrified. She was referred to this business, and unfortunately, that referral has cost her years of stress and thousands of dollars. She spoke with Fraser, who made big promises: he claimed he would go to court for her, fight for her, and immediately send a letter to CRA to stop the collection action. My mother trusted him -- and paid him over $5,000 for this supposed support. What happened next is unacceptable beyond words. Despite everything Fraser promised, CRA still seized the next two paycheques from my mother. When she contacted Fraser in a panic, he casually admitted that he never even sent the letter he said he would. No apology, no accountability, and absolutely no compensation for failing to do the most basic thing she paid him for. Two years have passed since then. No action. No communication. No updates. Nothing. The only thing this business did for my mother was send a single late letter to the CRA -- a delay that caused her to lose another $2,000. That is the entire extent of their "work" after taking $5,000 from a vulnerable, elderly woman. My mother has repeatedly and generously requested only a partial refund, not even a full one, despite receiving essentially no service. She has been completely ignored. It is appalling how this company has treated her. The lack of professionalism, the empty promises, the total absence of follow-through -- it's beyond disappointing; it's harmful. Do NOT use this business. If you are considering it, please learn from what happened to my mother. She cannot afford to lose $5,000, especially for essentially nothing in return. If anyone reading this needs more details, I am absolutely willing to answer questions. I will update this review if Fraser or Tax Mechanic chooses to take any action or issue even the partial refund my mother asked for. Read the one star reviews and they say the same thing: Once this firm gets your money they consistently fail to deliver anything and then ignore emails and phone calls. This firm wasted countless hours of my time, and worse, four critical months, simply placating and ignoring me - there was literally NO progress made in these four months. After many months and dozens of emails, I can confidently say that Tax Mechanic is a spectacularly dysfunctional organization with a toxic culture that has a complete absence of anything that looks like respect and care for their clients. Their perpetual neglect created actual negligence that led to measurable damages. It cost me significantly. Don't make the mistake I made... AVOID AT ANY/ALL COST.
