Despite the large crowd, we were moved along quite efficiently and the ship departed on time. I am sure it can be like herding cats at times, but the staff pretty much moved everyone along without a lot of fuss.

Location is inland rural around 4-5 hour drive from Calais. Beautiful country park resort in…read moregrounds of old (private) Château with Golf hotel spa on site. Pass the hotel to gated caravan park which consists of a mix of statics, cabins, large pre-sited tents and touring pitches. Includes electric hook up if desired and pitches are very large. We stayed in Euro Camps static P33 which was handily located next to main entertainments areas but was dirty inside on our arrival. Choice of bring your own sheets and towels but available to hire (expensive) if wished. Our 2 bed unit had plenty of space on the pitch but shower blocks were few far and poorly maintained with shower in unit better than on the site and that was weak. Lots of amusements - at a price - for kids prices (approx) Zip slide £8 for 2 shots, pony trip (short one = 30 mins) £10, Archery £8. Biggest Pool was closed for renewal but indoor heated with small slides OK, Outdoor wave machine not heated but larger, Outdoor fun pool with slides OK - All supervised part time but busy when sun came out and nowhere near enough sunbeds or seating. Crazy golf was extortionate - 6 and 4 Eu respectively so for a family of four 20 Euros - mind boggles so other amusements seemed reasonable by comparison. Pizza shack on site at a £Tenner for a medium pizza. Bars (4-5 Euro per pint) and restaurants also on site as is Spar for all the usual basics. We took our bikes and a couple of safe local paths and woodland rides - lots of fun if you can dodge the midges and animal carcasses. These led to a small local village which closed off streets on Sunday am for local market and al-fresco dining - but watch out for the local guard dog - scary LOL. A bit dodgy on the A roads due to speed on these routes for cycling so just stuck to campsite with bikes. Within 5 mins drive was local supermarkets in Combourg and Dol-de-Bretagne. Take the time to go into the village centres - gorgeous and historic. The camp is also ran by a mix or different holiday companies - Euro Camp, Canvas Holidays, Thomsons, Al Fresco Holidays, Some Irish companies (direct ferry services from Ireland meant lots of holiday makers from Eire) and local companies. All the reps were extremely friendly and helpful no matter who their employers were and the site staff for Domaine des Ormes were too. Many languages spoken so anything can be fixed with trial and error. Each had their own kids clubs with varying level of activities - Euro Camp was highly rated across all age groups. In all it was a fantastic break which we really enjoyed. A few improvements so far as cleanliness of unit, availability of resources - shower blocks in camp site and in swimming pool areas, sunbeds, large pool, some prices of amusements would have got this a much higher rating - best aspect was staff effort in helping to make the break great.
