My sister and I were recently hiking in the French Alps (Sep 2020) and needed to re-arrange our plans with the help of a couple of taxi rides (there were no weekend buses and when we contacted three other companies, none could help). Essentially, we could not manage the distance and elevation on GR5 with our heavy rucksacks (c 12kgs each) after our first day of 15 miles, which took us 10 hours (Thonon-les-Bains to Chevenoz). We found Taxi Buffet and contacted them. Jeanine was a "life saver" taking us from Chevenoz to La Chapelle d'Abondance and then, two days later, from Abondance to Taninges. She was very friendly and reassuring, prompt, a great driver and her English was very good (our French was just about passable!). She covers a large area and her prices are very reasonable, plus she offered us bottled water and was conscious of wearing masks. She can also recommend other taxis for other areas if need be, through her local and trusted contacts. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to anyone.
