Flowers & Cabernet Sauvignon

Had some great happy hour bites at the Tavern. The $7 Cabernet Sauvignon was delicious. Loved the floral center piece at the table and the beautiful distressed wood table itself. Service was friendly, and the food came out promptly. The waygu steak taco was my favorite, it had a great flavor and was very tender. I definitely recommend the Brussels sprouts, lots of Parmesan and thick balsamic glaze. I'll definitely be back!

Almost Famous, left, and French Martini

We came for pre-game cocktails and had a great experience! Super cool looking place, it's got a fun vibe and service was great. We had a few cocktails from their specials menu and they were creative and delicious. While we didn't eat here, the food going to tables and bar looked very good, and almost made us blow off reservations elsewhere. But, that's bad form, so we'll just have to go back again sometime.

Came here to watch football and eat dinner. Cool location "underground" in downtown coronado. Drinks were good. I liked my steak tacos. Dad liked his burger. Both were good, not great. Nice dark moody bar theme, but only 2 TVs behind the bar.

Tomato Soup Gratinée

Great spot located on the main street, but set on a lower level to create a lovely and intimate setting. Outdoor seating is available, but the interior truly is warm and inviting with lots of wood, stone, low lighting and subtle floral accents. Our bartender/server Hannah was great. Friendly, attentive, quick and helpful. My husband had the sliders, which he enjoyed. I ordered the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, which were flash fried and too burnt for me. I couldn't find any green in the dish. All the sprouts looked and tasted overdone. Thankfully, the dish was removed from our bill and I was given a chance to order something else. I chose the Tomato Soup Gratinée, which was INCREDIBLE. It came out in a small bowl, but the serving was perfect. The soup was rich and satisfying with lots of mozarella. All in all, a spot worth visiting.

This place had a cool vibe and a huge variety of drinks. The food was good. I ordered the chicken parm sando with Caesar salad. I also had a whiskey sour, which was really good. My friends had fish & chips (huge portion), the chicken pot pie (pretty presentation is a special white bowl), salmon (didn't come with as much veggies as I would've hoped). My only gripe about the spot was how cold it was when we were seated (lol). It was sprinkling outside.

Wagyu steak with chimichurri

While in Coronado we go to experience the most amazing meal ever! We both got the wagyu steak and it was one of the best steak meals we've had! It was sooo tender and the chimichurri was just so tasteful. I order a lemon drop martini which was made well and my husband had a michelada which was okay , a bit too sour. But Our server was really nice and attentive. The only reason I'm giving this place a 4 stars is because my chair was quite wobbly and the tables were a bit sticky . But I would come back just for that steak.

We found this spot just by walking by it. Very cool layout with the big window open to the street. Our drinks and food were great, the service was some of the best we've had in San Diego. I would definitely recommend the tavern if you're on Coronado!

Aloe & Cucumber

Delicious craft cocktails. This is the Aloe & Cucumber. Light and crisp and just enough sweetness

We popped in here for a quick drink while visiting Coronado. The bartender was really personable and funny. I got the mule and it was delish!

The bar is an old gym floor. Recycling is good.

We had a good time here. The Tavern has a lovely "Cheers" vibe. They work to make you feel welcome and comfortable. The food is tasty and the drinks are inspired. A great place to relax and recharge your battery.

Cauliflower steak w/ Cauliflower puree
Bridget B.

My team and I came here for a work event on a week day. The service was fantastic, everything came out super quick, and everything tasted fresh. All of my coworkers enjoyed their salmon and I liked the cauliflower dish. I could've used another item on the dish to fill me up besides the cauliflower but the flavors were great! The Brussel sprouts, charcuterie, and cookie skillets were a big hit too. Great place for a work group!

Food was great. Couldn't find anything amiss with the food. Server came around too often but otherwise I'd highly recommend.

My "old review" for "this place" was for a completely different business at the Del. Not sure how…read morethe ice cream store got moved into the sun deck. But today I ate at the pool, with food brought from the sun deck. Times were pretty slow and it's not cheap. But my wahoo sandwich was delicious. And it's a luxury to eat it at the pool. So thumbs up and I would do it again when I'm here.

Beautiful view. Everything else was a joke…read more We're locals and don't usually come to the sun deck. It's typically packed with kids and tourists, but it was a beautiful day and we wanted ocean views without the drive. We grabbed a corner spot with a $175 minimum, easy to hit when the menu is priced like everything was flown in from Monaco. Water: asked three times, never came. The fourth time we finally got it, and only because the manager dropped it off himself after my husband spoke to him. Water is the bare minimum. It shouldn't feel like a favor. The food came out in five minutes. Five. That's not a kitchen, that's a heat lamp. Lukewarm at best, some of it cold. The giveaway: they brought us a kids' chicken fingers plate, realized we'd ordered the adult portion, took it back, then sprinted off to grab the bigger version. That's a steam tray with a hostess. And the lobster Cobb? The lobster was cut into little circles. Circles. Lobster has never been a circle. The servers moved around like expressionless robots. When my husband politely asked to speak with the manager privately, out of respect for the staff, the manager came over looking like he couldn't care less. Somehow the service got worse after that. He comped a burger and one other item. We still walked out near $175. The cherry on top? His apology was throwing his own employee under the bus. "Yeah, he's had a lot of complaints lately." That's not a manager. That's Gossip Girl with a clipboard. Be a leader. Handle it behind the scenes. This is exactly why the staff is the way they are because leadership comes from the top and if that's broken the whole operation is broken. We left and went to The Dive rooftop at The Bower Hotel. Sat down, and within a minute someone dropped off water. We sat there genuinely grateful, which is when it hit us how badly we'd been treated. Save your $175. The view is free!!!!!

The ordering and beer shack is made to look appropriately rustic and the sign post is appropriately thematic, see my pics. As you can see from my pic I was lucky enough to be there at a slow time. My canned beer came out in so-so time. But the staff was somewhat harried and short tempered. I ordered my fish taco, and I didn't realize it was made and had to be picked up at a different shack - which is around the corner from where I placed my order. So they had to tell me twice (I didn't see the small white sign down the alley: so you don't get snapped at I have a pic of where the food is prepped and picked up.) There were 2 taco orders ahead of mine, yet it took 15 minutes to serve my taco. I'm glad I waited there - they yell your name at the alley, I'm not sure it could be heard at the beach and over the live music. Please take a look at my $8.50 fish taco. While there was a plentiful amount of fish, the seasoning was incredibly salty. Also the fish was tough. I did liked the guac on top and rest the was fresh.
