Cannot say enough great things about True Love! It started…read morewith somehow coming across jesse's Instagram when I first arrived in Brisbane and I loved his work. Jesse is an apprentice but I had complete faith in him, especially after meeting him at the shop for my consultation a few weeks back. The shop is rad! It's so clean and cozy. All of the artists are super friendly and seem to love being there. True Love requires a minimum $50 deposit for a tattoo, which you can pay in cash prior to your appointment, or pay thru PayPal! Which was really convenient. The tattoo I wanted was nothing I had seen Jesse do before, but he emailed me a sketch of his idea and I was so stoked it was almost exactly what I pictured. Jesse told me on appointment day, this style of tattoo was his first time ever doing anything like it. I'm absolutely impressed with the whole experience. Not to mention, my tattoo is so beyond perfect. Jesse will definitely be the one to finish my whole arm.

True Love are a bunch of fun dudes. On the advice of a friend, I booked in with Pip, and handed…read moreover my ideas during a short in-house consultation (which I recommend, because it gives you an idea of what you're in for, and gives the artist an idea of what you're like). I had been hoping for (and promised) a sketch of my piece before the day of the appointment, but it didn't end up happening - which was cause for a bit of anxiety on my part, and probably the only disappointing part of my experience. Once I came to terms with my right to exercise my power to say "actually, that's not quite right yet, sorry", I rocked up for my appointment only to find out that there was absolutely nothing to fear. Pip had done an awesome job in translating my suggestions into exactly the picture I had in my brain. She was as professional as she needed to be, and the remainder of her was hilarious. The pricing was totally reasonable (True Love are cash-only, but there's an ATM at the supermarket around the corner). I look forward to going back to True Love.

I may get in to trouble for this review…read more.... But I can't help it; I don't rate these guys too highly. I booked in a tattoo with Bad Apples when they had just opened, and was hoping for better service than I received. Over the phone they seemed friendly enough while taking the booking, but actually getting to the shop my friend and I were sent down the road to a different building that had no signage (which I'm assuming is because they don't want anyone to know about the stark room where they actually perform the tattooing), as the main store only does piercing. Which is too bad because the main store looks amazing. Where my tattoo was performed was not; it was clean but very depressingly empty. I showed the artist my design, a very, very simple outline of a much beloved character from my childhood, to be placed on the inner heel of my right foot. The artist looked at it, shrugged, made an outline and asked, 's'allright?' And that was pretty much the extent of our conversation. My tattoo went (painfully) fine, but then if she had messed up a simple outline, I'd probably go apocalypse on her. Meanwhile my friend asked for a bumblebee design to be made up for her tattoo from a few pictures she had brought in. The artist drew up a bee (which looked alarmingly similar to the pictures already brought in. No points for creativity) and my friend had it tattooed on. About 7 months later, we noticed the ink has begun to 'bleed.' Not a fan guys, tattoos are for life and the experience is part of the memory. I've had better experiences in dodgy parlours in south east Asia.

I don't know what Kayla G is talking about who left a 2 star review for these guys???…read moreThe service I received was great. I booked via email, and got a response and date confirmation almost straight away. The shop front DID lead to the rest of the studio, you walked out back into a large room with 3 chairs, nicely finished, well lit and decorated, nothing dingy. The tattoo artist who did my work had great attention to detail, and re placed the stencil multiple times until we were both happy, with him even suggesting to reposition it a few times picking up on things I wouldn't have noticed. The tattoo was fast and pain free, and he spent time talking through all the care for the tattoo. Overall it was a really good experience, and I look forward to going back again.

Welp, usually you would review a tattoo studio based on the quality of the tattoos. Due to the…read moreservice I received in liaising with the staff here, I'm unable to do so. I called and asked what the process was for setting up an appointment to come up with a tattoo design. I was told to email through some reference pictures and they would email me back. All good, easy done. After sending through the pictures and advising where I wanted the tattoo, I was told that what I wanted wouldn't fit where I wanted it. Keep in mind, I had asked for something to be designed based on the references, not for direct copies. I emailed back asking if they would be able to design something that would fit, or alternatively, if they could design something for somewhere else (I was set more on the general design than where on my body I wanted the tattoo). Nothing. I never received a further response, either to that second email, or to a follow up email. So that's my experience with Sacred Skin. I have since found a fantastic studio who organised a time to meet, sat down to discuss the design, came up with something that fit what I wanted and where I wanted it, came up with several different designs, and kept me involved in the process. I absolutely love my new tattoo. Avoid Sacred Skin.

Went in to talk it through with Josh who had a much better idea than the one I had in my mind. Made an appointment for a few days later. Went back got tattooed, Josh works very quickly and the results are amazing. Josh has an excellent portfolio of stuff in a traditional style, and some of it with a bit of a twist. The counter staff were friendly and helpful, and the store was spotless. Saw some of the other artists work as well which was very good as well. Swirly - extcellent stuff, Willa - amazing detail. Over all a great shop, if you want a tattoo and you're in Brisbane Sacred Skin could be your best bet.
