This place is a geologist and paleontologist dream! Small place but packed with exhibits! If you are in Casper, you must visit this place! There is no cost to enter and we had a great time! Very interesting.

I loved this place! We came because of the T-Rex listed on a road-trip website as an attraction. Happened to step inside because this pregnant lady needed to pee and we ended up staying over an hour! Looks pretty unimpressive from the outside, but the displays and staff here are fantastic. Small space, but they really do a lot with it. I'm so glad we stepped inside.

Nice little gem. Easy to find. Nice staff an impressive collection! I would recommend everyone stop thru to review! Worth the time of the visit. Both sites an interactive activities for the young an old

Awesome dinosaur museum. My son is 9 and he is into dinosaurs and reads all about them. He loved coming here and seeing the fossils and playing as an archaeologist in their children's center. It was a memorable experience. They had a mammoth on display and quite a few other interesting species. They also had some lovely stones and rocks on display. I'd highly recommend this as a good educational spot for kids to go to in the area.

Pretty cool for older kids (5 and up) and adults. My toddler was not interested in anything but the large dino out front.

My wife and I were able to touch the T Rex (with permission and caution) - if you do that at the Smithsonian you'll be sent to Leavenworth.

Small enough to wrap your hands around but packed with really good information. There is also an interactive "river crossing" where you are in a wagon and it moves a bit to simulate crossing a river. Really unique and i appreciated the experience. The employees were also exceedingly friendly and went out of their way to engage with us, teach us what they found interesting and gave a nice restaurant recommendation to boot. Definitely add this to a trip to Casper.

If you are passing through Capser, the museum of the trails is a FREE must do stop…read more Firstly, the views from the parking lot and entrance are spectacular of Casper and the Casper MT. Secondly, its free! Clean rest rooms and lots of historic information about Casper and the local areas. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about all the local history. You'll learn about the migrants on the Oregon Trail, (yes the video game is based on a true story) Farmers going to Oregon, Gold miners going to Sacramento and San Fran, (the original 49ers) and the Mormoms going through to SLC. There are interesting exhibits, videos and a large auditorium show of life on the trail, which is really rather informative. The museum covers trails before the migrants, settlers moving across US and the progress of the Pony Express, Telegraph and Railroads. The museum has a few neat simulators for kids such as riding a prairie cart through the river. Sitting in a Wells Fargo stage coach and even experience how it was to pull a 150lb hand cart through the 1000 miles of wilderness. Definitely worth your time, can be done in 1 hour, most likely take 2.

I have to say, I am disappointed. We did a wagon ride July 22, 2024 I did my research before…read morebooking a two hour tour for my family. The reviews looked good and the website pictures amazing. I am not sure if it was an off day for the company or maybe it's under new ownership, or what, but it's really just an overpriced wagon ride. The tour guide was dressed in regular clothing and there was no information given about the Oregon Trail. I was thinking maybe our trail guide is not a regular guide. It seemed like the owner just wanted the money and grabbed a person to steer the wagon. He also was hard of hearing (nothing wrong with that), but it meant when my kids asked questions he could not hear. So it was like a two hour silent ride. I would say skip this if you are in Casper. Do the free museum in town instead.

He was so accomodating, and made our group of 8 adults feel like we really experienced traveling on the Oregon Trail. He and David took us on an amazing wagon train ride, and with all of his knowledge and great stories we could visualize life on the trail back then. After the ride was over, we had a delicious meal that Chef Dave cooked right in front off us, complete with dutch oven peach cobbler. This was an experience that none of us will forget! Thank you so much Morris, and both Daves :-)
