I recently moved back to Bartlesville after 17 years. I really don't know anyone here anymore. I had new tires put on by Tate's and was satisfied. I remember them from before moving as a good shop. I got up yesterday and my Jeep wouldn't start. I am 60, a small woman with one arm. Needless to say, I can't change a battery. I have found that paying for someone to do every that needs done that I cannot, is putting me in financial danger. ( my son did these things before). I called several places and they were just going to tow my car then charge another $200 to put in a battery! one even stated it would take 45 min to instal a new battery! I resorted to calling Tate's as they had nothing stating they would come out to my home. I was having to go put my moms cat to sleep , my mom died in oct and I took her cat. I was so stressed over the costs and not getting the poor kitty in to ease her suffering. Mr O'Brien took his lunch time to come check my vehicle, went and got a battery and replaced it! He did not charge for his extra time, he was being a community member helping another community member in need! I have missed the community aspect of growing up here. Took my now deceased Ford Escape there because of engine light. Told me cylinder 3 was misfiring and needed plugs and coils along with fuel injection cleaning. Total $860 - long story short - 4 return visits because light kept coming on while they said nothing was wrong. Took it to DFR and in 15 minutes they told me I had coolant intrusion leak and showed me. Only fix - new engine for 10 grand. Thanks Tate - at least it has new plugs! read more

I went into Tate boys needing a new tire. I selected my tire, and was handed a bill of the total cost, including service fees. I was told us was going to be $102. After waiting for almost 4 hours, I received my final bill, totaling in at $270. When I asked about the price change I was met with a condescending attitude, and told I was in the wrong, and that the first bill I received meant nothing. One day later, after paying $250 for one tire, it went completely flat. The tire was torn up on the inside. Again, met with extremely condescending and rude attitude. I will not be coming back to this establishment ever again. read more

I got my oil changed at Tate Boy's downtown last Saturday. Now my car is giving me these "mykey" notifications. It's limiting my acceleration, my top speed is capped, and no audio plays without the seatbelt being buckled, even if I'm in Park. It's going to cost me $300 for a second key and to have Ford deprogram it. The manager of this store said he couldn't guarantee they will pay for it and now I'm waiting for yet another manager to call me. I've been trying to get this resolved for 6 days now and NEED my car working the way it was. I do not have the money to fix what they did and it looks like I'm going to have to come up with it anyway. I will absolutely never take my car to them again. read more

Well where to start, I have been doing business with Tate Boys for years. I dropped my kids truck off this morning. I called and explained what it was doing. I figured it was going to be a bad tire. So it was no surprise when I received a call confirming it was a Bad tire. When I asked him what 2 tires would cost he stated that if I would let them repair an axle boot, then the total with 2 tires and the axle boot the total would be 1,200.00. I told him I just wanted the price of 2 tires. He stated that the tires that they have in stock it would be 845.00 for 2 tires. He never asked what tires I wanted. He never told me that they can get tires same day. I told him I had been doing business with them for years and that I know there are other tires available. Instead of just trying to sell a set of expensive tires. Not very proud of this new company policy. I found a new set of 4 tires in Dewey for a total price of 1,100.00 installed and they are 10 ply tires. Such a better deal. I would definitely shop around before purchasing any tires or service from this company. So sad the way they do business . read more

I have a 2006 Honda Pilot that needed an alternator. I called and talked to Mike and he said they could get it right in and I asked him for a quote on it, he quoted me $790 for an alternator! I looked up the part cost and the most expensive alternator was $290. I looked at a YouTube video of how to do it and it is probably less than an hour of work. I found an ASE Certified Master Technician to do it for $450 so I took it there instead. I used to be a big supporter of Tate Boys and I have sent a lot of people to Tate Boys but will not be recommending them anymore, I had no idea they were so much more expensive than everywhere else! read more

We had traveled from San Antonio Texas to Bartlesville to visit The Mercantile. We knew something was wrong with the tire on our rental vehicle so we went to Tate's to get it checked out. Only took 30 minutes for them to discover it had a screw in it and get it fixed. They didn't even charge us to fix it. We were back to our vacation trip in a jiffy thanks to them. If we lived in that town we would definitely go to them with our vehicles. Such wonderful people! read more
