I had the rempah chicken (which is Malaysian spiced fried chicken) with noodles. The chicken is just so tasty - you can really taste the juicy chicken. And the sauce is lovely - nice spice to it. (Its worth just mentioning that if you are a vegetarian, you have some options such as the mock chicken. I have had mock chicken before - both from Nasi Lemak and other places - and its pretty hard to tell the difference - the taste and also the texture). I recommend checking out Nasi Lemak!

The Nasi Lemak (nasi uduk in Indonesian) which I used to eat for breakfast every day in KL was a poor version of the original. The coconut rice was just plain rice and the rest of the items on the dish were incredibly insipid and uninspiring. The chicken curry was oily as hell and the chicken stank. It was just all really disgustingly awful and not Malaysian. I would never go back again and will instead enjoy my partners lovely fresh cooking made with love (which Malaysian Delight is definitely not!)

These guys are popular not only for their Malaysian offerings but they are also one of the few places that open till quite late in town alongside with Hou Mei. The menu is simple and has an offering of Malaysian dishes such as curry laksas, Assam laksas and Golden Chicken. For me the best dish is the Golden Sands Soft Shell Crab, the salted egg yolk grinded and fried onto the crab which simply creates an irresistible flavour you can't have enough of, a must try for the seafood lovers. I also recommend the Curry Laksa or the Assam Laksa, but beware these are not the faint hearted and do really contain a kick of spice and flavour! For drinks, do not hesitate to try the Malaysian coffee but most of the all the teh tarik is my favourite drink, a silky smooth tea that gives off the best texture a tea could bring. A regular backup and a safe card in my book!

I think some people will find the service slightly on the slow side, but I think they forget, every dish is cooked to order it informs you of this on the menu. If they want quick, go to McDonalds! The staff are always helpful, polite and friendly. All in all, a great place to go, just don't expect the kitchen to perform miracles, be patient, and you will have a fab time. The area where I live has many many restaurants and I would be more than happy if we saw this place open in our town :)))

Its always quiet during the week but gets busy at weekends. They also do take out and delivery so thats very popular. The food looked that good when it arrived we tucked straight in and I forgot to take photos until the end. I ordered Thai yellow curry with steamed white rice. My mum ordered beef stirfry with was very spicy.

I didn't think much of the latter (too dry) but the first is good. We also got the char kway teow on both occasions - this is the quintessential Malaysian street food and apparently the litmus test of any Malaysian restaurant. I'm not sure this is the best example owing to my lack of specialist knowledge but I really enjoyed it and would recommend. We also tried the national dish, Nasi Lemak. The prawns that came with this were very good (although Jimmy K who owns Nasi Lemak's are even better). Finally we got a chicken dish involving coconut, chilli, garlic, and chilli which obviously with those ingredients was pretty tasty. Each dish is around £8 or £9 which includes rice - great value. The wine selection I think comes down to three colours out of which white is better than rose owing to the latter being too sweet (for my taste anyway). Very reasonably priced again. It's a small restaurant with only the owner serving and many proud regulars making it somewhat gratingly obvious they're regulars, but the fact it has such a loyal following is indicative of consistency and it's another asset to the small but quality Hazel Grove dining scene. If you're coming on a Friday or Saturday booking is recommended because there was only 1 table for two spare the night we went on a Friday. Midweek should be fine. If you're having trouble spotting it, it's the hole in the wall next to the Fireplace shop!

Added to this now is Little Lanka, which I believe is the only Sri Lankan restaurant in Manchester (there seems to be one in Glossop). Added to our long-existing outstanding pubs, Stockport is really doing well! The same can't be said for this location, which has had two restaurants (Nepalese and vegetarian Indian) close since 2015. It's a a bit of a trek from Stockport station and parking is hit and miss - street parking is limited although we got a spot literally outside the front door, not metered, on a Saturday night. The 192 takes contactless now, so the bus is also an option! Consistently with reviews on tripadvisor, we got a lovely welcome here. The menu is full of unfamiliar dishes and it's not easy to get an explanation, but luckily google has plenty of handy images and explanations! We started with the parippu vadai and spicy fish cutlets. The parippu vadai is like a fritter (which isn't obvious from the menu). The cutlets are actually more like breaded balls. I thought they were super tasty although bf preferred the fritters (we got 3 of each so this worked out well for the 3rd!). Both came with the same two dips - emly (tamarind) chutney and red chutney - which were outstanding. For a main course I got the fish hoppers. You get a bowl of fish curry, a bowl of coconot sambol and then two piles of noodles that seem to come in discs. I didn't have enough curry for the noodles but couldn't have eaten all the noodles anyway, it was a very substantial portion. The curry tasted great but by the end I was a bit sick of disposing of fish bones, I would suggest a meat version if you're not feeling energetic. Meanwhile bf absolutely loved his lamb koththu - this is also complete (i.e. carbs included) dish because it involves strips of roti mixed in with the meat, egg and sauce. This may be why you're advised to order a small portion of curry on the side, to make sure your meal is not too dry, but bf said he would have been fine without. On the table next to us, the couple said the king prawn devil dish was amazing so I will try that next time. Bf got some King beer which he said might actually make him like lager. For dessert we had a caramel sweet which was interesting but I'm not mega keen on any of the Indian sub-continental desserts I've tried - don't love the spice factor. They do have natural yoghurt with honey and ice cream as well though, and will be further expanding the menu. I'd recommend a trip out to Stockport to try this place: it's good value, different from what you'd get elsewhere and overall we were really happy with the taste and lovely presentation of all our dishes.
