There charge $4 per ticket that can be used for food and/or beverages. There was a children area: art and craft, bouncers, face painting, story book reading area, variety entertainment, arcade free interactive video games. Children received free popcorn, snow cone, cotton candy, balloons and light stick. All of this was sponsored by North Hills Church. There were 2 live band stage show. There were plenty of food booth, vendor and bar. The exhibitions at the Brea Art Gallery was free. The display of arts were very nice and unique. We also got a chance to see live theater piano performances at the Curtis Theater. It was beautifully played. Overall, we enjoyed our walkthrough the Brea Fest Event.

A favorite was a chocolate Nothing Bundt Cake. There were all kinds of food, many choices with something for everyone. I had too many tickets, and I had to use them all that night, so I ate more than I usually do. There were 3 entertainment stages. We sat at a table by the Jimmy's Buffet tribute band. They did 3 sets. Music was fun. Didn't sound like Jimmy, but it was fun to watch. The band was from San Diego and they decorated the stage. We had a fun time.

There are 2 different types of tickets needed, ones for the rides and the others for the booths and food/drinks. There were a few rides and carnival games, and there were little to no lines at the time we went. The food and drink booths had nothing special or exciting to offer, so we ended up empty handed, and heading over to 7-11 for some slurpees since it was so hot and humid. Overall an ok experience but I don't think the 3 of us are too interested in returning next year.

There was security at the front which is reassuring. This is the ideal place for families. There were plenty of rides and games to keep the kids occupied. All I saw were preteens at the rides section. For the adults, there is a beer garden and a separate wine area. There was a stage with live music. There were food variety: American, Filipino, Italian and Mexican. For me, there were not enough vendors (merch/goods). There was one vendor to the left that sold unique items, a jewelry vendor and a photographer. Next to the photographer booth was a cake walk - which I've never heard of. Unless you were in the beer or wine garden, there was no shade. I can confidently say, I will not return.

Because we chose to be cooped up in the AC during the hot day, we really wanted to be outside, so this was a good opportunity and it was a free activity before we could decide on what to do next. Before we even approached Birch St. we noticed the large amount of foot traffic in the area. Birch was closed and obstructed with a stage and the restaurants across the street has lines out the door. It was pretty damn crowded. For parking, we avoided the adjacent parking structure all together. You can tell that was the first place people attempted, but we just circled the nearby Ralph's shopping center lot since you were allowed to park there. After about 5-minutes, we easily found a spot, and less than a 5-minute walk, we were already there. The festival itself has a shopping village with local vendors, a beer garden and of course music. Though the event skewed a little older at night, it was cool to see so many people out and and about. When the music was playing, there were lots of people on their feet dancing and laughing, and if you just wanted to sit and enjoy the spectacles, they had plenty of seats put up for you to rest your keister. Though we didn't purchase anything from the vendors, we did stop by a lot of the restaurants in the area to see what they had. Our biggest score of the night was stumbling upon Merely Sweets. We bought some cupcakes, propped up and watched the festivities. The festival goes on every weekend until the end of September. Even if you're not into jazz, it's cool to stroll and see what Brea has to offer. I think it's great for the community and gets you out of the house for a night!

The parking and event are both free! There are really long lines for award winning tamales, but I didn't have time to wait so I went for a shorter line. Tamales Fiesta - 5/5, really excellent tamales! The red salsa beef tamale was the best one, great flavor. The salsa verde pork tamale was fine. The cheese tamale was a solid choice. I'd pass on the churro cheesecake tamale next time. Very well priced with a drink, at about $27 total. La Reyna Tapatia Events - 4/5, the Hot Cheetos esquites are easily 100/5 so dang delicious! But the pupusa wasn't what I was expecting. It was super flat and didn't feel like it had much filling. Both items cost $25 total which felt a little too expensive for what I got.

We were able to find free street parking and as long as you're okay with walking a block or two, parking is easy to find. Just a word of the wise not to go into the neighborhoods as it's super tight and fisted parking. It's a fun community event with lots of volunteers and community sponsors. I think it was only around $5 for activities for children like the sledding, petting zoo, and very small pirate ride, but there's lots of free fun things for kids provided through the Children's Museum and other various community partners. Some pretty cool sponsors were T-mobile, State Farm, Toyota, The Spongebob Movie (neat!), PBS, and much more. Lots and lots of seating available. One in a well lit lot next to the Port-a-Potties and another in front of the performance stage. It does get cold once the sun goes down and there's a lot of working so definitely dress for comfort. There's a couple vendors with merchant crafted goods like decorated tupperware, quilts, and other things like toys or clothing. The city is also selling merchandise for the festival and it's centennial celebration. Friends and I got pumpkin, sweet corn, and beef tamales from the vendor that had the longest (yet most efficient line) and the most trophies. All of which were delicious and can easily be seen why they're turbo winners as well as Randy's Spammy (I've missed every single Asayoru collab they had so seeing them here was a real treat). Great place to hang out and kill a couple hours.

I wanted to see fireworks on NYE, and the only places in the OC that does that in 2023 is Disneyland, Knotts, OC Fairgrounds, and Downtown Fullerton. You stand very close to to the firework launching and they set them off in an unexpected and interesting way so it is quite fun. I wanted to have some nice cocktails at a place that was not too loud and raucous, and we found a lovely lounge at Les Amis, and there were others in the area. There were some loud pubs/bars, but they were at the outside periphery of the blocked off street section. I didn't want a huge, dense crowd. There are free lots and parking. This year, it was easier to find a close spot than it was in 2019. There is this area for kiddos with food, games, rock climbing, etc, and was set on a street with no bars or restaurants which provides a buffer for the families. The kiddos were cute. Brings back memories for when my kids were young. The streets are blocked off and there are 3 cover bands.

Best things about First Night in Fullerton: + Plenty of musical performances from cover bands + Plenty of free parking + Food stands to get some yummy snacks + Streets are blocked off so you can walk around freely + Fireworks at midnight However, since it was the 26th year Fullerton has had this event, I thought that there would be more activities. Lucky for me, the weather was fantastic this past weekend, so we went! We arrived shortly after they opened on Sunday morning. There is a church down the street you can park at for free, but we found a spot in the neighborhood next door. Admission is free. There were a handful of vendors with jewelry, art, books...honestly we didn't check anything out, we were there for lunch. They have a highly organized system that I enjoyed. There are a few booths with menus for all the food vendors. Tell them what you want and they will ring you up for whatever you are buying, then hand you scrips to pay with. You cannot buy anything at the food booths with real money. I liked this cause it minimized the wait times in the lines for each food vendor so you don't need to deal with people figuring out what to order, how to pay, or people counting change. It's so streamlined and easy. For $40 we got a Polish beer, a bottle of water, a "dinner" plate, and three potato pancakes. The dinner plate was bread, a large heaping of sauerkraut, three potato & cheese pierogis, one kielbasa (your choice of smoked or fresh), a cabbage roll, and condiments of horseradish cream, mustard, and ketchup. All of the food was fantastic! Our favorite was the potato pancakes, which were savory, yet served with a sour cream that was kind of sweet, applesauce, and powdered sugar. They were sooo good! They had a couple things for kids, face painting, fake tattoos, a picture area to pose in. It was cute. There was a stage and we heard people would be performing soon, but we left before that got started. I would love to come again next year, if the weather is nice again!
