It's an interesting marketing concept that I wish would catch on in the U.S. :) The space is very large and features both indoor and outdoor seating. It was extremely busy when we arrived but we managed to snag a table for two outside. The tapas buffet selection was varied and interesting and included finger sandwiches, pastas, rice, pastries, and more. As an added bonus, they bring you a complimentary cheese pizza just make sure to ask for it. We only stayed for one cocktail each but mine was very delicious and packed a punch. The food was just good/ok. Nothing mindblowing in a country where mindblowing food can be found on every corner but worth a stop in for the money.

All my sources pointed me to Cremeria La Vecchia Stalla, or in english, The Old Stall. I always start with Pistacchio. This is the standard by which I judge all gelato. I had the Pistacchio di Bronte and underneath the Cioccolata Extra Fondente. The flavor jumps out and it has little bits of granular pistacchio in it creamy and delicious in its own right, one of the best I have had in all of Italy. But the dark chocolate that came later was intense. Rich and a perfect compliment to the pistachio. A great combination. Staff were excellent and very friendly. If in Bologna this is a must for Gelato, you will not be dissapointed

A little stuffy on the server having to deal with tourists ordering things too early in the day. So no pasta for us! lol. Silly Italians. Or, to be a bit more precise, sample all the gelato, and if you find one with the right texture/flavor, go for it. But be sure to sample, because quite frequently the gelato is older and/or crystalline, which is basically a waste of your money. (Then again, the good stuff *is* good, so if you can't be bothered to walk to the next good gelateria...)

We stayed in Bologna for two nights, and we went here both nights. We've been fortunate enough to make this our fourth trip to Italy, so let's just say my husband and I have eaten our fair share of gelato. The shop is clean, bright, and modern while his prices are reasonable. I think it was 2.50 euros for a small and you can get two flavors. My favorite thing about this gelateria though is that he doesn't just do gelato. There are two fridges worth of delicious gelato ice cream sandwiches, cakes, gelato bars, etc. I actually go to gelaterias for the gelato made treats rather than gelato itself. I liked everything I got, but I was especially wowed by the orange cake. I'm not a big citrus-flavored-dessert person, but this had me wanting more. It was light and reminded me of a creamsicle--yum! If you're lucky, you will get to meet Giancarlo who has a welcoming smile that makes you feel better to be supporting his gelateria.
