My family has been taking our pets to Boronia Vet for over 10 years now…read more The Vets here have always treated our family dogs, and now I have a dog of my own, it was an easy choice when we needed a vet for her check ups. The staff are great, and the Vets themselves are really friendly, and genuinely concerned for your pet. Each time my dog has been in, they have completed her treatment with a one on one chat about her health and what procedures went on. Another great thing about Boronia Vet is the price. I tried another vet once, and found their prices 20% higher than those here. Having been completely refurbished recently, the premises are clean and modern, and although I'm sure the animals don't really notice, it is a nice touch for the owners.

We took over our sons dog last xmas who was in a very bad way as his Lupus was taking over his body and he was getting continual infections, these guys gave us so much help at any time of day and night . To whom it may concern,…read more I am writing with great sadness and frustration regarding the recent treatment of our fig parrot, who tragically passed away following her visit to your clinic. If you had been familiar with this species, you would have known how sensitive they are to stress, and you would not have subjected her to gassing and blood work--procedures that ultimately led to her death. The stress, the pain, and the lack of appropriate aftercare all contributed directly to her rapid decline. Despite the clear signs of distress, you sent me home without any pain relief. The medication administered during the procedure wore off quickly, leaving her immobile and in evident agony. You did not provide meloxicam or any form of analgesia, nor did you weigh her to advise on a suitable dose if needed. I stayed up with her all night, watching her suffer. It was heartbreaking to witness, and we were helpless to relieve her pain. You insisted on blood collection, a procedure I have never agreed to before--not even with Dr Ross, who has cared for my birds for over a decade. In my 61 years of breeding birds, I have never lost one in this manner. I started breeding birds at 10 years old and have worked with sensitive species like fig parrots for the past 20 years. Dr Ross always worked collaboratively, asking detailed questions and making considered decisions. Outcomes were always positive, because his approach is compassionate and informed. Even after the trauma of the first procedure, you suggested gassing her again--something we clearly told you not to do. Our hen was only 5 years old. She is now buried, and her mate is fretting. It will take years to find another compatible female. The most painful memory we are left with is how much she suffered before falling from her perch and dying. Given the avoidable circumstances of her death and the lack of appropriate after care, we are formally requesting a refund for the treatment. if I could give a 0 I would…read more I am writing this review to inform people to avoid this clinic. they told me to "just put down" my 6 year old guinea pig Spikey on the 2nd October 2025. its now march 2026 and my guinea pig is alive and was given the all clear not even a month after I was told to put her down. spikey was stood on so i rushed her to emergency. It was suggested by AEC Frankston to take spike for x-rays as they weren't sure of any damage that could have been done inside and wanted to rule out any broken bones. i booked spikey in as an emergency appointment at the unusual pet vets for her x-rays, DR Shane Simpson and DR Christina Karagiorgis were the ones who "treated" spike. -they didn't listen to anything I said nor did they listen to the AEC frankston report. i've had spike since she was 4 weeks old, I know my guinea pig yet they seemed offended when I knew things about her. -They told me that her urinary stone and uti (which she didn't have) were more urgent to treat then possible fractures (which she did have). They were completely wrong and they have done this multiple times to other people. They are lucky spike didn't die due to their lack of care unlike other patients they have done this to. -they came back after finding out spikey didn't have a urinary stone and told me they had been wiggling my guinea pigs jaw and 'may have caused more damage" so she needs the x-rays done then whilst I was thinking on weather or not to do them Dr Chris said that "if you don't do the x-ray you should just put her down". before having a diagnosis I was told to put my baby to sleep. - after the x-rays were done Dr Chris came back and told me to put down spike as she had a fractured jaw and wouldn't survive the weekend yet didn't pull up the x-ray whilst I was in the clinic to show any proof of what they said. it wasn't til I asked for the x-rays over email and a radiology report that I actually knew the extent of my guinea pigs injurys. -I have 2 different radiology reports in my emails, one without the fractured sternum and one stating she did have a fractured sternum. when I am now bringing this up I am being told that it was a birth defect?? its the only part on the x-rays where u can clearly see a break...I think I would have noticed a weird lump and odd breathing during the 6 years ive had her and since shes healed the lump is gone and her breathing is normal. -They failed to diagnose a fractured rib, which I should have been told about so I could care for my pet sufficiently. instead I found out from the other vets I visited. -They misdiagnosed her flabby chin with heart disease and wanted to test her for it (wanted more money) yet the AEC ruled that out and her heart sounded fine. they didn't believe me when I told them she's always had a chubby chin and she's just a bit chunky. -They misdiagnosed a 'fatty' bump with a urinary stone, abused my already injured guinea pig putting more stress on her to prove a point. Spike was on strong pain killers and hadn't made a sound all night, they squeezed her so hard to make her scream. There was no bladder stone meaning there should have been no pain. Why did she yelp out in pain like that? -Dr Shane is sending out incorrect medical records which has confused my other vets and has not helped in treating spikes case. -I was told by vets who specialise in guinea pigs that you cannot confirm a fracture in those X-rays taken and instead the best course would have been an CT which I wasn't given the option of (I have emails where Dr Shane also admits this) -I was told to euthanise a guinea pig that was making improvements, What reason was there to put her down? She was happy, walking, had an appetite, peeing and pooping and as stated by them, NOT IN PAIN which is in the audio recording from the appointment. -This clinic has put me through insufferable amounts of mental, physical and financial stress due to their negligence. -when I asked for the appointment recordings I was given one recording that is cut mid-sentence, I was in the clinic 2 different times that day. seems very convenient that anything that could have been used against them is missing not to mention every time I bring it up with vet board they ignore the problem completely... - they dont care about animals they care about money. - Dr Shane stated that he is "very happy with how spikey was treated". do u want someone who's happy with all this to be treating ur animal?? -yes I got given a full refund but if anything that proves to me they know they have done something wrong. If anything happens to you beloved guinea pig i suggest going to the rabbit doctors in coburg, warrenwood vets or even lynbrook vets (their not specialist but they LOVE animals and they treated spike with absolute love and care) and in an emergency AEC Frankston. let this be proof to trust your gut when it comes to ur babies. if I trusted this clinic my baby would be dead.

They refused to take responsibility, gave 3 different stories, lied, and did not even apologize!! After I gave them a bad review on facebook they even threatened to sue me!! These incompetent, heartless scum have no business looking after animals.. Never use Cowes vet, if you like your cherished animals to live. Beyond disgusted...

I love how the have a separate area for cats in the waiting room (something my cat really appreciates) and how everyone there is super well informed and more than happy to help and share information!
