What age is too old to master ones voice? I dont see pictures of anyone over 50

Hi Kali, great question! There is no age limit to our services, and no one is ever too late or too old to begin their vocal journey. At Tara Simon Studios, we firmly believe that every voice matters, and we are proud of our diverse customer base and… Read more

Sing Like a Star - Tricia Headshot

    Sing Like a Star

Tricia Grey, MM is the best vocal coach I've ever worked with -- truly…read more I've studied with major names in the past, but no one has helped me access my voice like Tricia. What makes it even more incredible is that she's coaching me at a time in my life when I am not at my best -- due to a serious illness that left me with long-term complications affecting my voice. I worked with other coaches when I was at my physical peak... and yet Tricia far surpasses them in every way. She just has that special je ne sais quoi. She's incredibly smart, intuitive, and dedicated -- and you can see all of that in her book, which is one of the most useful vocal guides I've ever read, no matter where you are in your vocal journey. Her Sing Like a Star method is scientific, empowering, and meets you exactly where you are. She helps you build from the inside out -- breath, tone, emotion, everything. I'm hitting notes I never thought I'd reach again. If you're on the fence, take the leap. Tricia is rare. She's the real deal.

I asked around inside my peer circle in the Grammy chapter and ironically no one could recommend a vocal coach. I was fortunate enough to find Tricia and SLaS through an internet search and was pleased that SLaS could work with me via Zoom since I'm thousands of miles away from Atlanta. It's easy to under appreciate (or not understand) how much a course and coach can help us gain control over vocal muscles, larynx position, breathing, and breath support so that we improve our craft and more fully develop our personal singing style. Just like any fine performing artist or serious athletic endeavor, improvement in ability to sing isn't magic. It requires training (WITH EXERCISES), coaching, guidance, and feedback. SLaS and Tricia does all of these things via a very well thought out course that is designed to work on the common issues male and female vocalists arrive with at their doors (or in my case Zoom camera). I've gone from being/believing I'm a baritone only singer always wishing I had a wider ranger to be more versatile to HAVING a much wider range AND at the same time a far more POWERFUL and stable singing voice. I hardly recognize my new voice!...but I am sure loving it and can't wait to see what the next months hold as Tricia continues to guide and coach me to new places. When I think of vocalists I've worked with in the studio environment, almost all of them could have used the help SLAS provides; including one who came to the studio with her personal vocal coach!! Kudos to everyone who worked to put the SLAS training together and to Tricia who is helping those willing to work and put in the time to be much better vocalists and performers then they were before signing on with SLaS.

I was really nervous, but TMS made it fun and easy to find the best time for me each week and matched me with a teacher that I felt safe, comfortable and loved by! More than anything, my teacher has helped me gain confidence and stay inspired to keep practicing every week. We pick music that resonates with me and I stay excited about all of our material because we have chosen it together! Taking music lessons has been such a beautiful form of therapy and I am so grateful to have this place to grow and blossom with. I set a goal when I first started taking lessons six months ago to perform at least once in front of a crowd. I am terrified of public speaking, and taking voice lessons has helped me actively work to conquer this fear. I am proud to say, I was recently able to perform in front of a group and it was the best feeling to celebrate all of my hard work and dedication with my teacher! I also have been able to expand my range by multiple notes with techniques and guidance. I highly recommend this studio for adults interested in finding a new passion or revisiting an old love of music. It's wonderful for children as well and they make it easy for families to take lessons at the same time, together! I love supporting this family owned and managed company and can't say enough good things about the Director, Cecilia. She is so dedicated to her mission and leads with so much love and kindness, but also with decades of experience in music education. Stop by the studio for a tour 7 days a week and see for yourself why this place is a little slice of heaven!

I had not been to Dirt Cheep Music in over 30 years (no kidding!) and I had been keeping my eyes open for a small, solid state guitar amp that I could leave at a remote location for playing in case I got bored there. Steve put me on an 80's model Peavey Bandit, made in USA, and perfect for what I need for under $90. Exactly what I needed and it was indeed Dirt Cheep. THANKS STEVE!!!!

If I need a suggestion their combined decades of experience as a family-owned business is always spot on. And unlike the corporate big box stores, every time you go in there you'll see the same crew. They'll know you by name, keep a list of things you're interested in and it's just a top notch experience.
