All of my coworkers finished their meals quickly, so it safe to say this food truck was a hit. Also want to point out the staff was friendly ! Orders served quick, I was surprised actually how well they managed our line of constant orders coming in... and lastly, the food truck was staffed efficiently, with a fa couple cooks on board, and sweet gal taking orders outside the truck, & and What seemed to be a manager of some sort , outside the truck just smiling and making sure everything was running smooth. I recently saw a review where someone snapped a pic of the seasonal tiramisu that I really wanted to try. So on a random day, I made a trip. Took about seven hours since I'm coming from another state. And the insane part, was that I only went for the tiramisu. When I got to the food truck, I was surprised to find out that the tiramisu I was trying to get is no longer "in season." but the awesome guy at the front explained that the new flavor was the apple crumble. And he also mentioned that he loved this more than other flavors. So that was enough to convince me to get it and I will say,.. that was the best tiramisu I've ever had in my life. If you're reading this review, this is your sign to go try that apple tiramisu before it's gone. There were a little bits of apples that were just bright little surprises of flavor. You had a very traditional tiramisu look, but the flavor was beyond what somebody could imagine. It wasn't overly sweet, it wasn't overly wet. Everything about this tiramisu was perfect. If 303 decides to keep this on their menu, that would be one of the best decisions ever made. I would come back just for that. Moving onto the person who took my order. This person was absolutely perfect. Not only was he super fast and efficient, he was extremely knowledgeable about the food and even convinced me to give to my other addiction, which is cheesecake. I really enjoyed the small chat we had, but more importantly, I really appreciated his enthusiasm for the food they sell. I didn't expect to get such good service at a food truck close to midnight. But that cheesecake, wow. I knew this cheesecake would be out of this world when the cashier guy told me that mascarpone was in the filling. You can't even begin to imagine how many levels of lusciousness this cheesecake was. And not only that, this is one of the very few, if not only, American cheesecake maker that doesn't dump tons of sugar in it. The cheesecake was perfectly sweet. And what threw this over the top was the berry compote. The berry sauce had very low sugar, and it perfectly worked with the cheesecake. At this point, I can't believe how much I've actually written about this experience considering how fast I was out of there. But with that side, the atmosphere was amazing. There was a good group of people lined up to get food. But the hilarious part was at the food truck was what looks to be in a strip club parking lot. I could be wrong but I just found that to be interesting. There may be a lot of of you who are browsing the reviews and are finding out that these desserts are a little bit pricey. But let me tell you, aside from the fact that this spot uses high-quality ingredients to make their desserts, the quantity they give you is massive. I guarantee you won't finish it in one day unless you are me and have a serious addiction to their food. Give their food a try at least once, and you'll probably end up going back repeatedly. I know I'm gonna go back. It's worth the hours long drive. Because then you'll have amazing food to eat on the drive back. If the owner of this food truck is reading this, I just want to say thank you for spreading a little joy through your food. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, we received notice that they were canceling the food truck service only about 20 minutes before the party started. This was especially disappointing because we had used Monti's about four years ago for a company event and had a good experience with the food. That positive experience was the reason we chose to hire them again. Unfortunately, this time there were warning signs from the beginning. It took about two weeks and multiple follow-ups before I received an estimate from Ryan, the owner. Several times he told me he would send something and did not follow through. At different points, he explained the delays by saying he had just returned from vacation and that he had been dealing with employee issues. We initially received an estimate for 90 guests. When I asked how additional guests would be charged because there was no per-person price listed, Ryan responded, "You are one of those very analytical people. If you want to get to that detail with me, I guarantee you will pay more." I found the response unprofessional, but because of our previous positive experience with Monti's, I still decided to move forward. Once our final headcount reached approximately 110 guests, I contacted Ryan several times asking for an updated invoice so I could pay the correct amount in advance. He repeatedly told me he would send it and apologized for the delay, saying he had been busy with a large social media event. He assured me our event was on his calendar and that I did not need to worry. The day before the party, I texted Ryan again specifically to confirm that everything was set before sending a reminder to our 110 guests. He confirmed that they were ready. Our party was scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. At approximately 10:40 a.m., while we were preparing to greet guests, we received a text from someone identifying herself as Ryan's mother saying that Ryan had been in a car accident and that they had to cancel the food truck. The last-minute cancellation had a major impact on our party. My husband had to leave the event preparations and urgently find enough food for approximately 110 people. Lunch, which was supposed to be served around 11:00 a.m., was not available until approximately 1:00 p.m. We also had to pay extra for last-minute food arrangements. While everyone was waiting for food, guests ate the Bundt cakes and donuts we had prepared for the birthday celebration. By the time lunch arrived, we no longer had enough birthday treats left for the celebration we had planned for our children. This party meant a lot to our family. Our children had not had a birthday party in several years, and we had been unable to hold one the previous year because of a serious family medical situation. They had been incredibly excited about this day. We also understand that accidents and emergencies happen. Because the cancellation happened only 20 minutes before an event for 110 people, however, we asked Ryan several times for reasonable documentation confirming the circumstances that prevented Monti's from providing the contracted service. We explained that this could be an accident report, insurance documentation, towing record, repair documentation, or something similar. We never received any supporting documentation besides the refund. It has now been about a month since the event. What made this experience especially frustrating was that we hired four vendors for the party. The shaved ice truck, water slide company, and table and chair rental company were all organized, responsive, and dependable. I did not have to chase any of them for information, and all three showed up and provided excellent service. Based on our experience this time, I would not hire Monti's Smokehouse BBQ again for an important event. The combination of poor communication leading up to the party and a cancellation only 20 minutes before 110 guests arrived caused significant stress and disruption to a very important family celebration.
