We went just to have a beer, instead we both got the flights of beers (5 beer sampler) and it was right thing to do. These guys have so many beers on tap that you need to do this so you can enjoy more than just 1 or 2 different beers. Also got the cheese burger sliders and sea salted fries. Both were outstanding!!! Need a place to wind down and catch up with friends? Then go to Taps & Apps! A friend of mine suggested this place, as we decided on a place to meet. He said that he liked their food. Which was perfect, because I've been wanting to try this place; I have never been here before. We came around late afternoon and it wasn't busy yet. By evening time, more people started to come in. We shared the T&A Happy Hour Flight (choice of 3): we chose cheeseburger sliders, buttermilk chicken strips and pork belly arancini (oops, forgot the correct name but it's currently listed under the Happy Hour Flight as of 11/28/17)! The pork belly arancini were deep-fried shaped balls with cheese inside, 4 pieces with a barbecue-like sauce. So fresh and delicious! The cheeseburgers were decent, but it was salty thus overpowering. The buttermilk chicken strips were my favorite! Crispy but not greasy and came with 4 pieces with a creamy mustard sauce. For drinks, I had the Mauka Breeze and my friend had the Taps & Apps Mule. You can taste the alcohol in the Mauka Breeze, but it's on the sweeter side. I like mixed drinks (I'm not a fan of beer), so this was perfect for me. My friend enjoyed his drink as well. We each ordered one more drink, but I forgot their names as well. Overall, my friend and I had a good time. Our waiter was awesome, making recommendations and checking on us consistently. We requested to split our bill and it was no problem. The atmosphere and decor is laid-back and screams bar. They have several TVs with the sports channel on, which was nice. They have indoor and outdoor seating. We weren't sure if we seat ourselves or wait to be seated, so we just seated ourselves lol. It was fine, since it wasn't busy at the time we came. Some tips and notes: - They have board games! My friend and I had a blast playing Connect 4 and Family Feud. For the Family Feud, they didn't have the erasable marker so we improvised using a pen and napkin to write down our notes. - I looked at the menu on their website and Yelp as I'm doing this review. I couldn't find the other drinks and the one app that we ordered (wish I took a picture, but was catching up with my friend I didn't think about it). First timer! We came after work and it's a chill place to hangout with friends. It took a little while for our server to come, but he was friendly and gave us plenty time for us to choose what we wanted. We ordered the beer flight which was pretty cool because it's a 4x4oz for $16. I wanted to try the margherita pizza, but they were all out of pizzas that night, so I had to reside with the T&A burger with fries, and well as, my friend got the pupu steak. I don't like going out to a bar and having beer in a bottle, if I'm going out I want to have beer from a tap. That's exactly what taps and apps gave me. There was a large number of beers from which to choose. And they were all great from smaller breweries like red hook and belching beaver. I hope I can go back and try them all. The food was superb. I've never had escargot before and I decided to take a chance on them. To my surprise I was not disappointed. I then decided to have the Porto belly and my friend had the Irish nachos. Everything was delicious. The pork belly was succulent and it came with some pickled carrots to cut the saltiness of the belly. The Irish nachos were great. House made chips with corned beef and sour kraut. This place was great and I think I'll definitely come back with all my friends. read more

A solid 3 stars. I figured I'd try this place out myself despite the yelp reviews. Decor: Moderate sized place. We started off outside since it was packed and there was no available seating inside. The outdoor area is really nice and is not as closely seated as inside. We would've stayed outside except it began to rain. Inside is pretty dim lit, normal sports bar-like atmosphere. It's clean and the place still looks new. It's a one stall women's bathroom so be prepared to wait. Service: Good. If you're at the bar, the bartenders are very quick and friendly. Also very helpful and knowledgeable of their drinks. Our waiter was ok, not the friendliest but he checked on us multiple times and also was knowledgable of the beers they carried. Food: The food came out quickly but the taste was lacking. The seasoned fries were really good. Crab dip was pretty good, more cheesy than crabby but I didn't mind. Margarita pizza looked very pretty but was just ok. Biggest disappointment was the Irish nachos (it's just cheese and chips topped with shredded corned beef and pieces of beets). It looked really appetizing but the chips were kind've soggy and the cheese came out room temperature so it had hardened on the chip pieces and was clumpy. It was like they had made the nachos earlier and waited for someone to order it. Drinks: Pretty good. They had mimosas on special that night and I tried a couple beers which are all on tap. We did order some chilled tequila shots but when they arrived, were only semi cold. Asked the waiter if they were chilled and he claimed the alcohol was kept in a cooler to be chilled. Not quite the same but it was an easy fix. Overall the experience was ok. We'd probably come back since the location is convenient for us but probably won't be eating here. Came here on Friday, so maybe the were too busy at happy hour. Service was poor We were planning on getting the food from McDonald's next door when it took so long . Drinks never came at one time. It was 15 minutes apart for our group of 8. So we watched our group finish their drinks before we got ours. Same goes with the food. Waitress blamed the small kitchen. Our crab melt had way too much Mayonnaise. It was busy here, so I'm guessing there's not a lot of choices out here in Mililani. Steak however, was done right as well as tasty. Too bad it was cold. Tapps & Apps can be such a fun spot they have a great selection of beers on tap and are always adding mew choices, they have fun trivia and karaoke nights. However since Covid there actual food menu is pretty horrible all the good things they once had are gone , no Alvarado bombs, no escargot or bone marrow as for sea food choices you can get some heavily battered fish and chips and that's about it. As someone who try's no Not just eat pizza and burgers there is not much else on there menus anymore. I dont even order food when I go to play trivia anymore I eat ahead of time. I went to Taps and Apps last night with a new friend and it was pretty fun. We sat at the bar. She ordered food and I stayed with the drinks. I ordered a mixed drink, which tasted a little off--so I drank beers for the rest of the night. I think I had about 7 beers and I paid $35, which, is pretty cheap. I didn't like how they had 1 bathroom. There was sometimes a line and it was clean, however, someone threw up in there and they closed it out for awhile. (Why I didn't rate 5 stars) Thus, we had to go outside and use the restroom. Which is a hassle. It wasn't super busy, and the music was pretty good. The bartenders were super nice and friendly. I go here for trivia nights with some friends who live in Mililani. Food seems to be over priced and hit or miss. The buffalo flatbread is tasty but way overpriced. Last week we ordered some wings that ended up being bloody and raw in the middle. The chicken fingers have been consistently decent, but if u want dipping sauce there is a charge. There is a decent selection of beers but but not a huge selection of porters or stouts. Since we are becoming regulars our service has improved but has been hit or miss. Apparently the manager was bar tending tonight and it took forever to get our drinks. We had the worst Irish car bombs ever. It was like a shot of Guinness with a shot of Baileys (supposed to be baileys, Irish whiskey, and Coffee liquor) Our glass was so small we could not even drop the shot of baileys in it. When we asked the bartender (aka manager) about it she said we were to pour the shot into our shot of beer. Our waitress was totally sympathetic but it was clear there was nothing she could do. We all kinda looked at each other but ended up choking it down, we're super disappointed. You would think a special beer place would know how to make a beer drink.... All in all the idea of this place is great, but it just misses on so many levels. The beer selection is decent but a bit pricey and sometimes slow to get. Because they play off the tapas thing you have to order everything separate but charge you like you were getting a full plate or in Waikiki. And while our waitress tonight was great, in general i would say it is not known for its service. UPDATE: We recently revisited Taps and Apps in Mililani Mauka and had a much better experience. We ordered a flight and the charcuterie pizza, which was delicious. The cheese was soft and creamy and the meats were fresh. It was served on a wooden board which gave it a nice rustic touch. As long as you are not visiting during "red zone" hours (i.e. late at night when they may be slow and decide to close) you will have a good experience. Over the past year, Taps & Apps has been my bar of choice. It's conveniently located in the Mililani Mauka shopping center, so grabbing a drink after yakiniku at Gyu-Kaku or with Mililani friends is a must. FOOD & DRINKS Although the food is delicious, the dishes are quite expensive (I don't usually eat unless I'm there for happy hour). However, the drinks are awesome! I'm an avid beer lover, so a menu with 25+ choices is impressive. Every few months, there's usually a new draft to try. SERVICE The main reason I keep going back to Taps & Apps is the service. I truly value restaurants/bars that feel 'homey' - by my third visit, servers remembered my usual order and things I had mentioned from past visits. My friends and I therefore always feel welcomed and have a blast chatting with our servers. If you can score a table with Rutilio, I highly recommend him. ACTIVITIES Taps & Apps hosts Trivia Tuesdays and Karaoke Thursdays. Both of these nights are usually quite busy and - even if you don't participate in trivia or karaoke - an absolute blast. There are also several games that people can play at their tables, such as Battleship, Jenga, Connect Four, and more. ATMOSPHERE Taps & Apps is loud and dimly lit, but never feels like a grungy bar. The floors, tables, dishes, and bathrooms are very well kept. Even outside, the patio seating is clean and comfortable. Brussel sprouts were so delicious, the flavor was amazing. French fries pretty good. Didn't care much for the fish though so I'll try something else next time. The fish was very moist but I wish the batter was super crispy. Not much flavor to the fish so I loaded it with malt vinegar which only made the fish even soggier. This is a chill little gastropub. I like the amount of beers they have on tap (36!) which soothes my beer loving soul. I had an order of garlic Parmesan fries which hit the spot. However, everything else is fairly generic inside in regards to ambiance, music, decoration, and food. But if you want a place to chill and drink some new beers this is a cool spot. Came in at 1:10 pm for late lunch. Quick acknowledgement when we sat down. Wasn't too crowded. We ordered our food, after finding out the specials on the board were yesterday's specials so I had to order something else. Beer was easily poured for us. But it is now 1:54pm and we haven't seen our burger and pulled pork sandwich yet, or fries. We did however see another lady get our fries first and she showed up at 1:35. Waitress didn't even acknowledge us to see if we were ok with our wait. Dude next to us who was waiting for his food also waited a long time. He ordered pulled pork and received a club but waited so long he didn't want to wait anymore and just ate it quickly and left. Definitely need more time and patience to be here. For all the times I've visited Rise & Shine Café and other eateries in this plaza, I didn't know that Taps & Apps was located in the very same plaza ... just the opposite side. Knowing that just expands the brunch options when I'm in Mililani. I specifically came to Taps & Apps for brunch during my first visit, but the Happy Hour deals and appetizers look good, so I want to revisit during the week with my boyfriend. There's also a great selection on the brunch menu, so I want to come back for brunch as well and try some other things. I came for brunch on a Saturday--thinking it may be busy--but for 11:30 a.m., T&A was still relatively empty. The TVs were blaring, so I asked if I could sit outside and enjoyed a peaceful brunch. I highly recommend opting for patio seating if you want a quieter environment (though you can still hear the game from out there). My server was great and answered all of my questions. I think she was one of the few working, though, because service wasn't the quickest. However, she was super friendly and accommodating, and I have nothing to complain about because everything was delicious. Definitely will be back to check out their pupus. Here's what I got: "Big A$$ Breakfast Quesadilla": I was told this was one of the most popular items for brunch, and its contents sounded good so I decided to try it. I wasn't disappointed with my choice--it was super flavorful--but I underestimated the amount of tomatoes that were in this quesadilla. It featured ham, tomatoes, onions, scrambled eggs, French fries and American cheese in between two 10-inch tortillas. It was served with guacamole, sour cream and fresh pico de gallo. This quesadilla was definitely yummy, and I loved the French fries and cheese inside. I'm not a huge fan of tomatoes, but I couldn't really escape them in this offering because they were folded into the scrambled eggs ... and there were a LOT of tomatoes. I enjoyed the cheesiness of the quesadilla, but now, knowing just how many tomatoes it encompasses, I'll order it without next time. It was a good size for breakfast and I know I could have pounded it if I were really hungry. But, picking out the tomatoes got the best of me and I saved about half of the quesadilla for the boyfriend. "Strawberry-Pineapple Mimosa": Mimosas are offered during brunch, but you have to ask and see what the flavors are. During my visit, the server recommended this Strawberry-Pineapple mix and I opted for that since I like sweeter drinks. I liked how the strawberry flavor was a little stronger than the pineapple, since I'm not super into pineapple. It was refreshing and I liked the fizz, but it took me some time to sip my drink. It was definitely good to pair it with something salty like the quesadilla. "Biscuits and Gravy": Besides the quesadilla, this was the other dish my server recommended for brunch, and I'm determined to try it next time. It features homemade biscuits with sausage gravy and two eggs any style. I would probably get my eggs sunny side up or over easy, and I'm curious to see what the T&A's sausage gravy tastes like. I do appreciate fluffy, homemade biscuits, so I look forward to ordering this on my next visit. "T&A Breakfast Biscuit": This was one of the other recommendations that my server gave me, and I do love biscuits and gravy so I look forward to trying this sandwich one day. It features a scrambled egg, ham, bacon or sausage and American cheese sandwiched between a Taps & Apps biscuit. I would have ordered this biscuit sandwich, but I was also moderately hungry during my visit, so I didn't know if the size of the sandwich would hold me. But, if I were splitting an appetizer with a friend as well, I wouldn't mind ordering this sandwich, since it doesn't come with any sides. read more

Walked in there with great expectations for the taps and apps. The taps was okay for 36 taps bu the selections wasn't that great, wanted more stout beers and a little more higher abv% beers. Had the midnight sun fallen angel beer which is really good. For their food, it was disappointing for the price you pay for the apps. This steak at taps and apps was a 10 oz. Steak served with greens and mushrooms for $19.00. Ordered it med rare and it came out to be medium. Steak was a little cold and that sauce was not needed at all. Over all I think it was overpriced and not that great. Their crab cakes that we had was $18.00 for 2 good size crab cakes. Buuuuuut not worth it! The cakes had some small pieces of shells and wasn't as delicate like I had at Roy's, D.K. steakhouse, Morton's steakhouse, Signature steakhouse and Uncle Bo's. The sauce was a little to plain and overall not worth the price. Steak. Rating: 5.7 Crab cakes. Rating: 5.5 Their service was great saving them for an average rating. The bartenders knew about their beers and also pointed out some good ones, service is fast at the bar for food. read more

Been here twice now. The food is good, beer selection is quite lengthy. I always find something yummy for dessert, despite there being limited options in that area... However, they get three stars for being extremely overpriced, and for the lack of sides on their entree dishes. If you're going to charge me $17 for a puny duck breast, at least give me more than 2 grilled asparagas spears and a couple grilled tomatoes. How about a big scoop of mashed potatoes??? read more

A very weak three stars. Buffalo chicken flat bread was very soggy and didn't have a pleasing taste. The sauce is weak and unnecessarily spicy. The crumbled blue cheese overpowers the dish. Overall completely unsatisfying. Cobb salad was ok, hard to mess up that type dish. Excellent beer selection. Slow service but that gets chalked up to having only one very cordial waitress working both the indoors and outside tables. Part of our order was forgotten but we didn't get to ask for it because the waitress was not seen again until we were nearly done eating. Hint to wait staff: don't blame the cook. I'm sure this place has good days as well as bad but we won't be rushing back in hopes of hitting a good day. read more

This bar is alot of fun!! They always have unique and micro brews on tap. The food is awesome. Some of it is simple finger/bar food, but the other is some great creations. The owners can often be found to engagr whether you want to talk shop, chew the fat, or you have a genuine complaint. Most weeks you will be able to participate in a Trivia night with some friends, Karaoke, or go see the game or fight. There is, consistently, something going on here. read more

Hands down one of THEE best gastropubs North of Honolulu. The food here is amazing here. Come during dinner for some off-the-wall but well thought-out creations. One of my go to restaurants for great food. Especially when everything is homemade from scratch. The burgers here are by-far one of the best on the island. Top that with homemade French fries, you have greatness in the making. This is a family owned business so they take pride in their offerings. One of the BESTEST things about this place is the extensive 32 draft beer offerings!!! Something for everyone! Even if you are overwhelmed or afraid they will let you try a tiny sample. The are constantly changing their selection and adding new breweries. They also have some of their own brews on draft (don't thing made on-site) along with many other local breweries to try.
