We have been driving by Tappi's Cafe for many years. It was always closed. We have never bother looking up the place and realizing its hours is like Broken Yolk; they close at 3pm. Anyways, when I finally got smart and looked up the menu, I was intrigued to see they have Japanese Soufflé. So we stopped by Saturday morning, and we were pleasantly impressed. When you walk in, you are greeted right away. It's a quaint spot with cute decor. They have a few 2 and 4 tops. They were pretty strict with not allowing a party of 2 to sit on a table for 4. This made the table cramped as we got our entrees and had our bottle of wine. Our servers name was Valentina. She was great I came in to order the Japanese soufflé but they had ran out, and they also didn't have German pancakes. I was bummed but decided on the same dish as Tim and we both ordered Steak & Eggs Benedict. As we were enjoying our mimosas and great conversation, either the staffer or the owner came in with bags of ingredients. Valentina came back to our table to let me know that I can order Japanese soufflé if I still wanted it. And of course I said YES! And let me tell you it was SOOO good. It doesn't have the same shape or texture on the top as you would expect. It had a light crust. It was sweet and so delicious. Since we were indulging we also ordered one of their specialty dessert - Biscoff Crepe Noodles. It was heavenly. If you haven't been here, you have got to stop by.

I finally had the chance to try Tappi's Café, a little spot I've always noticed but never had the opportunity to visit until now. I wanted to find a new breakfast place with quality food, and thought, why not Tappi's? I suggested it to my daughter, and she happily agreed. It's a smaller café, but cozy, charming, and simply chic, the kind of place that instantly feels welcoming. Their menu offers a nice variety of creative dishes, which made it hard to choose! I ordered the Egg Tacos, which sounded fun and different, along with a side of potatoes. My daughter went with the Steak and Egg Burrito. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Our food came out quickly and was beautifully presented. You can tell care goes into every plate. We both enjoyed our meals immensely! The flavors were fresh, balanced, and perfectly cooked. If I could make one small suggestion, it would be to serve a slightly larger portion of potatoes on the side; they were delicious but I wanted more! Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The service, ambiance, and food were all perfect. Tappi's Café truly is a little treasure in Rancho San Diego, and I can't wait to come back again soon.

Yes , we found a new Breakfast place .. Do make reservations as the place is a little small . Initial service was good . The coffee was delightful and plenty , I asked for a to go cup as I couldn't drink it all . We ordered our food and my son and I received our food . I was waiting for my husband to get his food but he insisted on me eating while it was hot . Good decision to do so . I finished my breakfast and he still was waiting for his food . I had to ask the waitress what was the status on his food and apologized it was taking awhile . It was way too long . The food was good , I would like to see a kids menu. The bacon is a little pricey , two strips for $7 . Overall service needs attention.

Tappi's Cafe located in Rancho San Diego in a shopping center located in the same parking lot as the car wash. It appears to be a fusion of Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. Extremely small venue that offers indoor and outdoor seating. They may be able to accommodate a party of 8 at the most but, it will be a tight fit. Customer service was amazing and so was the food! I did not care for their cherry latte at all. It had a very unpleasant flavor. We ordered: Shakshuka - Delish (Mediterranean) Menemen - Delish (Mediterranean) Japanese souffle - Light, fluffy, and delish Ube pancake - Delish We will definitely be back to try more dishes!

Yum! The Japanese soufflé took about 20 minutes to arrive which is standard. These generally take longer to cook based on my experiences at other restaurants. When the pancakes finally arrived, they looked beautiful and were delightful to eat. They were light, fluffy, moist and not too sweet. They tasted slightly eggy, but still very good. I also had a Turkish coffee which was strong. The ambiance was casual and comfortable. Service was friendly. Overall, it was a 4.5 star experience. They have some interesting menu items and if I'm in the area again, I would consider returning.

What a great little Cafe! Our server was the sweetest, full of advice and insight. We had Turkish coffee for the first time. That was an interesting experience, I was a bit wired for the next 4 hours. The flavor was very different than anything I've ever had. Coffee that tastes like tea is how I would explain it We ordered a japanese fluffy egg sandwich with kafta, khachapuri with beef and cheese and the special. I loved both of the Mediterranean dishes. The cheese on the khachapuri was so delicious the bread was crispy but soft. The special came in a cast iron pan, sort of a breakfast pot pie with bread that tasted like Naan. The eggs were perfectly poached in a light but flavorful tomato sauce. I would probably pass on the breakfast sandwich next time. I love japanese fluffy eggs but the eggs were cooked in the grease of the kafta making it unappealing to me. Great brunch spot, don't sleep on this place!

My family and I were craving some soufflé pancakes. We used to go to Morning Glory, but Little Italy is a nightmare for parking- especially on a Saturday morning. (Not to mention the hour+ wait) I searched yelp for some soufflé pancakes and found Tappi's Cafe. Not only is it closer to us, but tons of parking! It was relaxing and cozy, not stuffy or pretentious. We got seated right away, and all the staff were very attentive. We loved our server Valentina, she was so sweet. She even asked me (quietly) if she could offer my toddler some candy, after our meal. All the food was delicious. My Turkish coffee was delightful and strong, exactly what I was looking for. We will absolutely be weekend morning regulars.

Cute place. Food was delish. Only downside is the time to wait. Waited a while for food to be served. Other than that it was good. I thought that the French toast was a bit dry.

The drinks we ordered were the chai latte and cappuccino which were delicious. There's seating available Tokyo Sandwich was okay tasting. The farm egg breakfast plate was good but felt like they didn't give enough food. The French toast Nutella tasted like Pinesol cleaning solution. It was not edible at all. Luckily they did remove that from our bill. The ube pancake was okay but they are very stingy when it comes to syrup. They give you a big old pancake with two small one inch tubes of syrup so the pancake just tasted very dry. Although the staff were very nice the food was not so great.

Listed coffee prices are different than they actually are when rung up. A Tappi's latte is listed as $7 on their billboard menu but $8 at the register and then around $8.60 total after tax. They should look into changing their prices to reflect what they actually are; as it is clearly violating the Honest Pricing Law (SB 478) On another note, this coffee isn't good enough to be charging $8; it was pretty gross and tasted synthetic.

My daughter chose this spot for her bday waffles and it did not disappoint ! We stopped by on a Monday morning and we had the place all to ourselves . There's a huge parking lot with plenty of parking, the restaurant is clean, and customer service was inviting ! Here's what we ate: MENEMEN WITH SAUSAGE: Unique, tasty, and HUGE ! It gave me shakshuka vibes-- sweet grilled onions, sausage, in a tomato based sauce . The bread It was served with was sooo fresh, fluffy, and delicious . I prefer the sausage to be more golden or a bit more charred, but still good . This meal is pretty hearty, I would recommend sharing . (note: this takes longer to prepare-- came out about 15 minutes after the waffle) NUTELLA BANANA WAFFLE: everything my daughter wanted for her bday breakfast . Waffle was hot, crisp, and fresh . She loved the addition of the mini squeeze tube syrups . Potato cube fries were tasty-- my son devoured the entire plate lol Overall, this is a solid spot . I would love to be back to try the rest of their menu and recommend to family and friends (:

Tappi's seemed like a cool new brunch spot to try but it was a miss. I ordered the soufflé pancakes, Tokyo sandwich, Okinawa sandwich, American coffee, and dirty matcha ($65.76 total). Waited 45 minutes for soufflé pancakes that were very eggy, deflated, and similar to a Dutch pancake. The sandwich bread was extremely dry and texture that was almost like cornbread. I ended up only eating the inside of the sandwich and took the bread to go. The iced drinks are served in plastic to-go cups which took a bit away from the brunch ambiance. The dirty matcha was an extra $2 for espresso and tasted a little metallic. The Sunday brunch service was very busy with no more than 5-10 minute wait time but the service was poor. Our server forgot some of our requests and took our food order after ~30 minutes or being seated. Yes, it was busy but it hits a bit harder when you see everyone else getting their food when they sat down 30-60 minutes after you were seated. There is also only 1 bathroom in a crowded area by the kitchen, cashier, and food pick up so it was hard waiting in line for the bathroom.

The food was really yummy !! My boyfriend and I had the Tokyo and Kobe sandwich,, they're pretty big so it's quite filling. I really enjoyed my honey latte, it's like a white mocha latte but with honey :) and our server was such a sweetheart. She was very attentive and polite, I wish I caught her name (she had glasses and long dark hair) but she so sweet. Had a great time :D read more

This was an exceptional dining experience! It's a small ordinary looking restaurant set in a mini outdoor mall. The inside is plain but clean. You look at the menu and wow.... So much selection and so many extraordinary items. We had 4 items between 2 people. Every single thing was exceptional. Even the brew coffee was great. Service with a smile. Food was served fast and fresh. Honestly the place blew me away. The only knock is the place looks ordinary, otherwise this is a MUST GO TO place. read more

We loved the menemen here. The eggs were buttery soft and flavorful, perfect with warm bread. Khachapuri was cheesy and yummy, not salty. Both were amazing! The soufflé pancake and affogato were also good. I wasn't impressed with their drinks though. The latte wasn't that strong and chai was just okay. The only thing that I hate is that it took this long for me to try this place. The food here is really good! I tried the khachupuri and shakshuka and they both were excellent. I will try the khachupri with kielbasa next time I go. The bread is served hot and it is soft and delicious. The service was excellent. This is a place I will be returning to. read more

Visited for brunch. Had the brown sugar espresso, right amount of sweet to balance espresso. Ordered the special, Japanese soufflé and a khachapuri. Everything was flavorful and fresh! Service was great , very friendly and all the food came out timely. Definitely will be back to try other items. read more

My daughter and I went there for breakfast. To start with, she had Turkish Coffee and I had Chai Latte - both were delish! She ordered espresso waffles. They were cooked perfectly and delicious, topped with a scoop of ice cream and sprinkled with a couple coffee beans delectable dipped in the small container of syrup. I had the egg tacos they came with hash brown cubes, which were delicious. The tacos were good, however I probably wouldn't order them again as there were so many other delicious sounding items on the menu. The service was fantastic. Overall, it was a really wonderful visit and we will be back again. read more

I came here with a friend to try something new. It was a little difficult to find because their signage is not up yet, but hopefully that won't be for long. I opted for the Salmon lox benedict and shared a cheese 'boat'. I say boat in quotes because it felt more like cheesy bread. The salmon lox benedict was OK to me. It tasted fishy, and could have probably used some dill or maybe capers to offset it. The poached eggs were very over and almost hard. The cheese boat tasted decent, but wasn't like ones I have had in the past where they cheese is more runny and not cut into pieces. Service was good, but kept getting asked if we wanted other food, which was odd to me. Felt like a car dealership. She was nice though Overall I am glad I stopped by, but will be a one time experience for me. I wish them the best read more

This cafe is near my office so I decided to check it out. I LOVE Shakshuka and planned to order that until I saw the Espresso Waffles!!! Cute decor, very friendly waitress and LOTS of fun drink options!! The waffle tasted delicious, but was a bit denser than I like, I prefer a little lighter and fluffier. Really feel like we found a hidden gem with this one! I came in with my two young children and was immediately a mess. Spilled milk, knocking things over, kids are fussing. The staff were so gracious and kind, helping me and being sweet to my kids and making them laugh, even reassuring me and encouraging me to just sit and enjoy my time. The service was amazing, vibe was intimate and relaxed, the food was delicious and beautifully plated, really can't recommend enough. Will 1000% be coming back multiple times. read more

Let me start by saying we came here for the 4.6 review and bloody Mary's. Very disappointed in service. We asked if they had bloody Mary's before we sat down, this is the reason we were coming here after all. Their bloody Mary's are made with "Asian vodka" according to the person at the counter. After waiting 30 minutes for our drink order, It was terrible, Un drinkable, literally. Then our food came out. We ordered breakfast sandwiches. They were made on a type of cornbread consistency. Unsure exactly what kind of bread, but very soggy. Eggs uncooked. Would definitely not come back here and don't recommend. read more

My friends, partner, and I dined here for our New Year's Day Brunch! My partner order the Mediterranean Breakfast, my friend and I ordered the Verde Chilaquillas, another friend ordered one the Japanese breakfast sandwhich, and two other friends order a farmhouse style breakfast. Everyone for the most part enjoyed their entree. My partner stated that the Mediterranean Breakfast Special would be a better lunch selection than breakfast. The Japanese breakfast sandwich is huge so it can be shared. The Verde sauce had flavor yet the eggs and the side beans were bland. The potatoes that came as a side dish were well seasoned with a smoky flavor. Our server was kind and helpful with ordering beverages. My partner had a Bloody Mary which he enjoyed. My friend and I order the Strawberry Matcha which was delicious and a must try! It did take a long time to order food after we ordered our beverage. I think there was only one server working the entire restaurant. The restaurant isn't large yet there is enough space for group dining. There were six of us in our group. Casual setting. Average sound level. A nice establishment to have a nice meal. read more

Not your basic breakfast! Lots of interesting options on the menu to try next time we come back. I got the Tokyo, my husband got the special. Both items were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The ambiance in here was nice, I wasn't sure if it was like more of a coffeeshop, but no you can dine in and have a server. we didn't order mimosas but it was nice to know they were an option in the future! This place stands out for its trendy/new menu options, well thought out plates and stellar service. It's a great option for locals and I highly recommend. I'll be coming back just to try the other egg drop sandwiches. read more

If you want to try a new breakfast restaurant, Tappi's Cafè is delicious. They ran out of the spiral croissant (can't wait to go back), but the soufflé was amazing. The chilaquiles looks basic but was soo flavorful and the beef kachapuri (has egg in the mixture) was amazing. oh, AND they have an espresso machine too!!! I'm excited to try the other items on the menu and the staff was helpful, friendly and attentive. It was hard to find because they do not have a sign up yet but the manager said it's coming soon. I expected a bit better Wanted to try the chile relleno but they were out. Ordered Chilaquiles instead w/Red Sauce. It was too sweet for my liking. The scrambled eggs were cooked hard (had brown scarring) so that was a bummer. Tortilla chips were so so. The pancake was terrific! Fluffy and hot!! I 'd go back for pancakes that's for sure! read more

Wow...unique and eclectic menu and our choices, both savory and sweet, we're delicious. Menemen and sausage was tasty and served with a crusty, yet soft, bread. Loved the presentation, too! Great balance of sausage and egg and tomato flavors. The Japanese soufflé was soft like a squishy toy, pretty and really unique. Getting the bottle of champagne with juices was a better deal than the flight, yummy flavors like mango, strawberry and pomegranate. Nice ambiance and wait staff. What an incredible hidden gem! We were in Mexico for the weekend, and on our way back to Bay Ho, we stumbled upon this fabulous brunch spot. We were seated right away, and our server, Bebe, was fantastic--so helpful and sweet. The food and mimosa menu were absolutely amazing. I would love to have a place like this in Bay Ho! I tried this place for the first time on Thursday morning and it wasn't busy when we got there around 10:30 am. Our waitress was super nice and friendly and came to check on us often. The food was amazing except for one thing. We started off with a hot white mocha and a hot matcha. The white mocha was amazing and my sister liked her matcha. We had the khachapuri and breakfast burrito and loved both! We asked the waitress about their spiral stuffed croissants since we had seen them in Yelp photos. She told us they only had strawberry but were making fresh ones of the chocolate and pistachio flavors. We got excited and ordered a "fresh" chocolate "stuffed" croissant. Naturally when I hear the word fresh and croissant in the same sentence I assume that means a warm freshly baked croissant hot out of the oven. I was dead wrong. When the croissant came out it was covered in what I assumed was their chocolate sauce which seemed strange since it's supposed to be stuffed. As soon as we started cutting into the croissant I knew immediately there was something off because it was HARD and definitely not stuffed on the inside. After taking a bite, we were shocked that it was cold, literally refrigerator cold. The chocolate sauce turned out to be bland pudding. I asked our sweet waitress if the croissant is supposed to be hot because it's very cold. She told us no, which was so confusing since this was supposedly a "fresh" croissant. A few minutes later a man came to our table, which I assumed was the owner and asked if there was a problem. I asked him about the croissant and he said it's suppose to be room temperature and it can't be hot because the pudding would melt. I mean why in the world are you using pudding in the first place? He then told us that the pudding is supposed to soak into the layers of the croissant making it stuffed. How can pudding soak into an ice cold croissant? He seemed very irritated that I was asking questions about the croissant so I just let it go. We didn't touch it after that first bite. Funny thing is when the check came out the croissant is called a "custom HOT kitchen". $10 for an old refrigerated cold croissant covered in chocolate pudding from a box, no thank you. read more

My new favorite breakfast joint! Not only because it's close to home, but the price is pretty fair. My son normally gets the ube pancakes. It's a fluffy pancake drizzled in ube syrup. No regular syrup needed unless you're into really sweet stuff. We came here twice and had to get the shakshuka each time. The shakshuka here tastes more authentic compared to other places. I've also had the chipotle chilaquiles which was surprising good. It's really hard to find a place with tasty chilaquiles. I've also had the pork belly Benedict. It was alright in my opinion. I would love the pork belly to be a little bit bigger and the Benedict sauce was kind of bland. The brown sugar iced coffee was also good, it's not too sweet. I also have tried the matcha strawberry latte which was okay. It tastes like matcha with strawberry syrup in it. The place is kind of small, but we haven't had any issues finding a table when we got there at around 9-10am. Five stars for decent pricing and a variety of food and drink options! read more

Been wanting to try this place out but haven't had time due to the hours well it was definitely worth the wait. Came in today and ordered a plate of green chilaquiles and an order of their Tappi's French toast. Both very generous portions and great presentation. Not only did the food look great but tasted great as well. Will be trying the chipotle chilaquiles next and their egg sandwiches. Upon arrival at 11:32 AM, we experienced a delay in receiving service, requiring us to seek out our server. We subsequently ordered water and a cappuccino, with the water arriving promptly and the cappuccino expected in ten minutes. Despite this, we observed our server attending to other patrons who had been seated after us. At 12:02 PM, we placed our food order, emphasizing the need for prompt service due to the children's hunger. By 12:20 PM, we observed other guests receiving their meals before ours, despite their later orders. Consequently, my wife addressed the owner to cancel the order and pay for the cappuccino. The owner's response was perceived as dismissive and discourteous. Given these circumstances, we will not be returning to your establishment. Don't recommend this place! Horrible service didn't have oat milk or almond milk for there coffee on a Sunday morning! Also we ordered before a lot of the tables that were sitting down and they got their food before us. We waited 45 min than server came with pancakes before our eggs & other stuff 10 mins later still no food...we've been waiting for about an hour to get our food...asked the server to cancel our food! This is a local gem! I would start my day here daily if I could. Incredible coffee selection that's top quality, and excellent service. My Turkish coffee was 10/10, I also got their invigorating green pressed juice shot, and a fresh squeezed orange juice that tasted incredible. Their breakfast sandwich brioche is literally the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had AND they have dessert?!? I've come here the past 2 mornings and EVERYTHING has been good. Had another fantastic visit to Tappi's! The lox benedict was delicious, featuring cream cheese and smoked salmon with a subtle citrus twist. The strawberry matcha coffee was a treat, with a refreshing puree on top and a perfectly balanced matcha flavor below. The menemen and sausage were warm, filling, and packed with flavor--definitely a highlight! To top it all off, the creamy affogato hit the spot. Overall, the service was good and friendly staff. However, the food wasn't great. The eggs were cooked too hard while the pancakes were undercooked left with a doughy texture. On another note, the fajitas were decent. The chilaquiles verde could have used more sauce. Seems like they're focused on the presentation of the food rather than the quality. read more

I tried their breakfast sandwiches but they are not a big deal and everything is overpriced such as the coffee and the food so I will not be going back. Prices are not worth it. read more
