This petrol station seems to be in the middle of nowhere. Not so long ago, every other little village used to have a place where one could be petrol or diesel, but these times are gone. All the more valued is a place like this, in the small hamlet of Wurzelbach, part of Ober-Beerbach, between Staffel, Beedenkirchen and Hoxhohl.
Surpringly, the petrol price can rival the big outlets in Darmstadt. In the tiny cashier's place, the usual drinks, sweets and snacks can be bought. The little shop is reminiscent of time gone by when it was not yet customary to have a supermarket's food range at petrol stations. What is unusual, however, is the number of men sitting in this small place sipping on a beer or a cup of coffee. I suppose they are leftover from the times, when the place next door was a little restaurant and coffeeshop.
The fact that it is possible to get petrol after hours (with a bank or credit card) has saved me many a long detour which is highly appreciated. read more
