Our local friends took us here and we were pleasantly surprised. It's an unexpected large…read morerestaurant for this small village, with plenty of space to hang our coats and a good spacing between the tables. We got a nice big round table, just perfect for our group of 6 people.
My hubby had the onion soup as an appetizer; he said it was great, but he would have liked the cheese to be melted into the soup; instead the cheese was on top of a piece of bread, which made it hard to eat. But otherwise, it was a great starter.
I started off with a venison carpaccio, perfectly accompanied by mushrooms, apples, and softly seared onion. My main dish was equally perfect, duck breast that was perfectly cooked and moist. Both my dishes were delicious; it is very hard to cook duck breast right and not too dry, but this restaurant has nailed it down!
The ribs were perfect as well; the meat fell right off the bone, and this dish came with a three different sauces. All main dishes came with a cute little wooden board with small bowls filled with veggies, fries, and potatoes.
The creme brulee was awesome; a big portion with a perfect layer of crispy caramel.
Service was friendly and prompt, and (so rare these days!) the music was not too loud, so we could not only enjoy the food, but have a nice conversation as well.
In short, definitely a place we will remember fondly; hopefully life will take us back to this cute town and especially to this restaurant.
