Just coming to do a early morning workout before I get my day started. And just to stay on top of my weight losing journey.

    This could come in tandy

Jessica Tandy was successful, but who knew there'd be a YMCA named after her. I feel like a lot of the members here live in their own little Coccoon, if you know what I mean. And there are flowers - daisies and others - all over the driveway. So if you're driving in here, make sure you miss daisies, because who wants to run over daisies. And watch out for "The Birds." I'm in the gym as I speak. Voice dictation FTW. So the Tandy is a really excellent facility. It has plenty of machines and multiple versions of all the weights so that you will usually get what you want. Even though the Rolling Stones said you can't always do that. Everything looks new and everything has been recently renovated and it smells clean, feels clean, and it's just very well done in general. Having said that, some of the other people using the gym are not nearly as friendly as they should be considering this is a state that is famous for being friendly. It does bother me that it was hard to get hold of the cables. It bothers me that somebody was using several different machines at the same time and then when they disappeared, I started using one of those machines which I had been waiting for, and then they came back and planted themselves back on the machine while my stuff was there and while I'm standing there. Bear in mind this is a nearly empty gym so that just made it more frustrating. And somebody jumped in on my machine in between sets and stayed on it for a while. Then I saw them do the same thing to somebody else. It's a near empty gym and they were just trying to antagonize people. Clearly. Another positive is that they have nice staff and gave me absolutely no trouble getting in here and did not have to verify my Identity or anything like that. Another negative is that the locker rooms are outdated. The showers are falling apart. However a positive is that if you can get one of these showers that is falling apart to actually work it has probably the best water pressure of any YMCA I have ever used in my life. And that's more important to me than being shiny and new, since I use these for my showers when I'm on the road. Another negative is that the weights are the clunky kind which are more hard to maneuver but they're not the worst I've used and they didn't give me nearly as much problems as some others do. Also they don't have any of the kind of bikes that I like which is frustrating but most gyms do not these days, and even the ones which used to are getting rid of them. Overall I really have to give this facility five stars because it feels like it should be a five-star facility despite some of the deficiencies that I just talked about. You need batteries to operate this review, by the way. Batteries Not Included.

Went to Tandy Family Y and had the best interaction with the MOD Erin Shaw. She's the best.

maintenance is an issue at this facility, and they don't really worry about fixing problems. customer service is poor.

I've slowly lost 10lbs with diet change and coming to their yoga classes and barbell class. Plus, cardio and some light weight training. I love all the morning yoga instructors; Trish, Jeana & Kristi. They are all so nice and so kind, I feel so welcomed and at peace when I go to yoga. Even during heated yoga where most everyone is super fit, I feel like I belong and that I am not being judged. I love the gym and feeling so welcomed has made me love going. It's my favorite time of the day, the few days a week that I have been going. It's so nice to feel like I can finally make the change for my health because the facilities are clean, the staff are extremely nice & the classes are so helpful when you can't afford the extra cost of personal training.

To begin, if you don't know, this gym's members lean toward the affluent. You can see the evidence…read moreexamining the parked cars, the spectrum of services typically offered at a country club, and the what I call "the new shoe parade" (adults over 40 wearing the most trendy athletic shoes). Glaring discrepancies: - the men's bathroom stalls don't stay locked efficiently and have a peek-a-poo gap you can use both eyes to see through. They'll spend money on fake plants, yet won't fix what's needed (this applies to other issues as well) - so far this summer, the outside "hot tub" is either disgusting, jets don't work, flooded with kids under 12 (there's a rule against that), or it's closed off - when it's busy, you'd swear no one in the greater Tulsa area is going to any other gym at that moment - it's succumb to the "Premium" disease. Some things you can't do unless you pay more - and a general membership is already pricey - if you want to play pickleball - good luck. They change the schedule of when the courts are available for whatever types of players. If it's free play, you might end up waiting awhile before you play again. There's only 3 courts. That's all for now. I'm sure there's other issues. Those are just from my lens. Two stars simply because it has so many services. Think "Costco" of gyms. It's got a dystopian feel and it's up to you how much kool aid you want to drink.

The staff's professionalism and welcoming nature are notable. The cleanliness of the facility is generally good, though temperature and lighting could be improved as it is very bright and very hot in there. My primary concerns are the use of tripods and video recording, which seems unrestricted, and the differing expectations for male and female attire, as the males are asked to keep their shirts on, while the females walk around in nothing more than a bra and panties. Implementing a universal dress code requiring shirts would promote a more inclusive environment. Moreover, moderating the music volume and diversifying the playlist would cater to a broader range of preferences as I'm sure most people would agree we do not want to listen to songs by Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys from their very first albums. I do suggest something more culturally diverse and less drag queen show. Thanks in advance.

There is a nice mix of clients that frequent the gym, and it just has a nice, laid back vibe for the most part. This location recently got a bit of a glow up! I didn't recognize some areas when I came back, but it was in a great way. They incorporated a section of free weights that before only consisted of dumbbells, cables and machines, so this was a welcome addition. They also brought in a lot of new machines to replace the aging equipment. I noticed just today that some of the machines have digital screens that count the number of reps you complete and the amount of rest time in between sets. It's automatic. You don't even have to program it or push start, etc... I really only use the weights, as I get plenty of cardio at work, but they do have a decent selection of cardio equipment as well. They also have tanning beds and hydro massage therapy, but again, I can't speak to these, as I don't utilize them. If you're thinking about getting back to the gym for the new year and starting some healthy habits, this is a good place to do just that in a variety of ways to keep you from getting bored or stale.
