I frequented Tan de Soleil in Morro Bay in the early 2000's (this was before it was purchased by the current owner, Angie). Since that time I've had sporadic visits, as I stopped tanning after a skin cancer scare. However, a few years back I tried their UV Free Mystic Spray Tan and liked it, but I didn't use it on a regular basis until this summer. This summer I went into Tan de Soleil to try the Mystic Tan again (it had been a couple of years since I'd done it at that location). My initial contact with the customer service rep working on that particular day wasn't good (it was not the owner, Angie, it was a young girl who apparently has worked for Angie for 2 years). The customer service rep and I did eventually talk about that first meeting and we worked it out (she was having a bad day, she's very young, I was having a bad day), but nevertheless, it left a lingering negative impression on me. I tried to discuss that first meeting with Angie, the owner, but it was obvious to me by her body language and attitude that she had made up her mind about it, & it wasn't in my favor. Regardless, I signed up for The Mystic Spray Tan 6 month contract- an auto pay program- $39.95/ mo. for unlimited tanning. Firstly, I had some issues w/ the Mystic not adhering to my skin. In the past (at least 2 years ago), the Mystic stayed on my skin for 7-10 days after just 2 sessions at level 2, but that wasn't the case this summer. I followed all of the directions. I showered, used no oil based products, didn't put any lotion on beforehand, but still, it wasn't giving me optimal results. Angie claimed that my PH Balance must be off (it was always my fault somehow) and recommended I buy an expensive bottle of primer and a special face tanner. I wasn't happy to have to invest in additional products, but I did, and I used them without better results. Sometimes the spray tan would last, but often it wouldn't. Because of this I was using the spray tan more often than others might (sometimes 3 times per week, though most often just twice/ wk). Secondly, just a couple of weeks ago, Angie told me that Mystic Tan users needed to start wearing covers on our feet in order to keep us from falling inside the bed (a serious liability issue). Free, blue, hospital grade slip ons were provided OR you can pay $2/ per pair for a one-time-use foot cover that you simply stand on rather than wear, so that the bottom of the foot is covered, but the top is still free to tan. I asked her if it was OK to just stand on the free covers provided rather than wear them so that I wouldn't be left with tan legs and white feet. This was a better option for me, since I use the Mystic often, and wasn't willing to invest $2. additional/ session in foot covers. Angie said, "Yes, you can do that, as long as the bottoms of your feet are covered so that you don't slip and fall". She did not provide me with instruction on how to do it, just that I needed to have the bottoms of my feet covered. So what I did was put the protective lotion (which is always used) on my toes and around the sides of my feet, and I stood on top of the blue foot covers. I specifically asked her if I could still cover the tops & sides of my feet with the lotion, and she said, "Yes, as long as you don't put it on the bottoms of your feet". I followed her instructions precisely. Regardless, even just putting the lotion on the sides of your feet & toes & hands, it's messy business. You still get lotion on the ground in the bed, etc (though not nearly as much as before), and I always tried to clean up after myself, as a courtesy. Anyway... Two weeks ago, Angie said to me, "You know, you're using the Mystic more than what most people do when they have the unlimited tanning. I know that you have had trouble with the solution adhering to your skin, so I'd like to offer you a chance to cancel your contract without a termination fee. I can help you to find another salon that uses a different solution that might work better on your skin". At this point I'd spent a good deal of money on a new exfoliator that I was using prior to tanning. I felt happier about the results of the mystic in conjunction with the exfoliator. I told Angie that I would consider her offer, but that I thought it was better now with my new exfoliator, and I'd most likely prefer to continue in Morro Bay rather than travel to another salon. She looked visibly unhappy with this response, and I immediately felt that the real reason behind her offering me this "out" was because she was losing money on me somehow. Today I received a call from Angie stating that she had terminated my contract because I wasn't covering my feet properly when I use the Mystic! I tried to discuss it with her, but she wouldn't listen. She simply dumped me- and she says it's for liability issues, though clearly that isn't the case! Today my contract would have renewed for the 4th month. POOR customer service. POOR business practice. It's not worth it! read more

I Started going to Tan De Soleil in March 2012, the customer service was excellent and they made a point to clearly advise me of the best tanning package that would fit my needs and expectations. The owner and employees support local businesses and are knowledgeable and trained in the current tanning technology. They take appointments which saves you time during our respective busy schedules and always make a point to accomodate the times when we simply find some extra personal time for ourselves to pamper ourselves for a little while. Worst place to get a spray tan ever. tan was terrible. complained and was told I was abrasive. when your hands are orange and does not match your arms. complaning now I am told to go elsewhere WOW Go to another place her employee is a snowflake and made me the bad person even though the booth tan at 40 was not up to what I paid for. Once I came back and voiced my opinion I was called abrasive and told to go elsewhere, Wow, not my. fault your equipment doesn't do what a human can. 40 dollars for standing in a tanning booth and following instructions on the wall with a terrible experience. I recently went on a vacation in Mexico. And wanted to get a quick tan before I go on my trip. Angie suggested there is new spray tan they have. Nervous at first. Worried will I turn orange, will I have streaks? I gave it a shot 3 days before my trip. And all my friends could not believe how good I looked. They thought I was there a week before. I never told them it was a spray tan. I have been back twice. I still have a bronze tan and for the price and time it takes. I will continue to go. Thank you Tan De Soleil. read more

I Tan at Tan Desoleil often. The salon is very clean and cute! I love coming in and talking to the girls! Angie and her staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. The prices are very reasonable, especially if you sign up for an unlimited tanning package. I honestly look forward to each time I go into tan at Tan Desoleil. I always feel welcomed. Angie, Audrey, and Sam are so nice and welcoming! I am so glad I came here! I will never go anywhere else. The prices aren't too high and they just put in a new bed for red light therapy.
