Along Dona Soledad Avenue in Paranaque City, I was surprised to find that there are actually three branches of Cebuana. I haven't been to a pawnshop in a long time, but when I had to send funds to one of the people I work with who happens to be based in Iloilo, he suggested that I send the money via Cebuana since he did not have a bank account. Sending is as simple as simple can be. You fill up a form that states your name and the name of the sender, state the amount, and sign. After a minute or so, you get a code number, which is a combination of letters and numbers. Send that code to the recipient via text message and he or she can get the funds at the nearest branch of Cebuana Lhuillier. I texted the guy who replied that he got the money I sent him. This was less than an hour after I sent the funds from a Dona Soledad Avenue branch. The service was fast, friendly and efficient.

Unfortunately I didn't know that pawnshops mail you to give you notice about the time you have left to buy your pawned item back. My father intercepted the mail and I got severely reprimanded for my actions. LOL. Lesson learned. The service I received here wasn't warm but straight to the point and very business-like. I had to look for a nearby Western Union and found one in the crazy, lawless area that is Arayat, Cubao. The Western Union was also part of the pawnshop tucked into the corner of Arayat-EDSA. I wasn't expecting much walking up the cluttered sidewalk, but inside it was actually nice inside. It felt like an old bank with their pretty comfy, wooden benches and high glass windows. Surprisingly, it was cool inside even with the high afternoon heat and the lack of air conditioning in the waiting area. I'd surmise it was frigid inside their offices. Having never made a Western Union transaction before, but I the lady there assisted me accordingly and I was not made to feel like an idiot! Even the guard was helpful, and they had their own photocopier, which, though a little overpriced, was convenient. There's a nicer Western Union now in Magnolia, (and my sister and I found an easier way to send money), but I have no qualms about coming back here.
