About 9 years ago I bought a Groupon and took some riding lessons with Esther. I was surprised at how well she cared for the horses- not just tack em up and ride em style. Honestly can't talk from experience of being there but I can speak from experience of purchasing a groupon they haven't been able to fullfil so I had to cancel it. I purchased mine in October for my daughter's birthday for 2 lessons and text back and forth for 2 months and they never had availability yet still sell groupons that can only be used for 90 days. I got it's our busy season, I will text if there is a cancellation, honestly think groupon just isn't a priority you should hire more to be able to fullfil them I stead of continuing to sell them and not be able to use them. My daughter was so excited and is now heartbroken and I need to find someplace that will do as they say they can. read more

After trying for weeks to book an appointment unsuccessfully and being scolded by texts for not reading earlier texts and not understanding her booking system. I decided to cancel my Groupon . I appreciate they are very busy but would think that they wouldn't oversell groupons if they did not have the staff to accommodate them . read more

I arrived early to make sure I got my helmet ready and I got a feel for the place. Esther and her girls were nice, helpful and considerate. There is much to learn and we both realized I needed more instructions. She provided this which much patience. I'd recommend her. The only fault we had was due mostly to the weather and her busy schedule. In retrospect I should have booked 2 lessons a week as this would give me a better chance of not missing any weeks. I'd suggest this too especially if your time is limited in the area. But most definitely you should take a lesson with Esther. She is very responsive. I bought groupons for my daughters, 2 1 hour long private sessions and we were all so happy with how everything turned out! Laura was my girls instructor and she was timely, patient and provided great feedback on each of them. Laura really took the time to show the kids how to brush the horses and clean them up before and after rides, so it's much more then just a ride. The farm has a great atmosphere, very peaceful and plenty of horses to love on while the kids had their lessons. We will definitely be coming back when we are ready for full time lessons. We had a 9am lesson that we purchased with a GroupOn. I know you can't expect the world when you buy a groupon, but the instructor (Esther) didn't show up until 9:15am. She spent the first 10 minutes unpacking her water cooler and applying sunblock to herself. At 9:27 she started talking to my daughter, and she showed us the horse gear and we spent 10 minutes grooming and tacking the horse (very reasonable amount of time and expected). At 9:37, the lesson itself began and was pretty good. The lesson ended at 10am. Esther seemed to be a good instructor, but it's hard to judge from a 23 minute lesson. As soon as my daughter had gotten used to this particular horse and understood the lesson objective, the lesson was over. Nothing was learned. The only thing that was accomplished was to make my daughter realize some of her riding weaknesses. And while that's important, a 9 year old needs to be shown progress and encouragement also. Otherwise, kids quit activities. Side note: the horse was extremely old and not very healthy looking. read more

Purchased a group on here. I called this establishment 4 times on 4 different days in which I left messages. Did not get contacted until 2 weeks later only to be told that my wife and I could not have a lesson together. Also the lady who called me back had an attitude when I told her how many messages i left only to be called weeks later. Stay away from purchasing a groupon here, very unprofessional. read more

Esther is an awesome trainer. She gives excellent pointers and made me feel very comfortable my first time.

So just got done talking with Esther Hillner. I think she thinks she knows everything about horses. She was very rude in tone to me not this one time but also the other time I spoke to her in regards to leasing a normal horse for pleasure riding. It almost seemed like she was trying to make me feel foolish, all under the camouflage of proper equine etiquette. Once again, I can tell when a person acts negatively towards me. Perhaps she can learn a thing a or two before remarking negatively on other peoples riding styles and habits. Because this review is almost done. This is a very small ranch. However Esther and everyone else at the ranch was very nice. My daughter enjoyed her lesson. There was a young girl that was very helpful and showed my daughter around. We Thought Esther was a great trainer. We will be back. read more

I have had my second lesson at the wonderful Talisman farm from a group on I purchased. My teacher was Esther. She is very knowledgeable. and it wasn't all about learning to ride. it is all that goes into it,..Preparing, the equipment, all the basics, before one even gets on the horse. She is very thorough and explains everything concisely. As an ex competitive figure skater, i appreciate that. as I know how important it is to learn all the basics before once goes on the the more advanced riding. I gave this review 5 stars. Plus the staff is so friendly the hoses very well taken care of . and they are part of Horses for Heroes The whole experience tremendous. Esther has been very accessible for scheduling, and the riding experience has been great. I am an adult rider, and she has managed to be both understanding of the learning curve and also to give great input on fundamentals and specific steps to keep those fundamentals in place. For adults like me who are much larger than the average learner, they still have suitable horses. Her working students are also very helpful. read more

Ripped off by Esther Hillner the owner/trainer. I came out today for my first lesson. I was eager to begin riding. After my lesson I informed her ( while driving home by phone call) that I will be going into surgery in three weeks, I then text her (few hours later) to inform her that I'm most likely moving back home to CA for chemo treatments after my surgery. She has refused to deduct payment for one lesson and believes she is being ethical by keeping the additional $200.00 (for services not rendered) regardless of my circumstances and that I will not be using her services. She told me there are no refunds and that she already spent the payment I gave her (by text) and refuses to speak with me by phone. I wish I would have seen her past reviews. This is completely unethical especially after explaining my situation hours after meeting. If there is any question about communication or time stamps on communication I will provide that information if requested. VERY DISAPPOINTED. read more
