The way it works is, you give the agency an idea of the type of work you're interested in and your wage expectations. Then based on your skills tests, they notify you of positions as they become available to them, and you have the option of deciding whether or not you want David Aplin to put forth your name. Typically, many of the jobs pay less than if you were to find them on your own, but on the plus side, it's an easier way to get your foot in the door with what may potentially turn into a long-term great paying job. What I don't enjoy about the company is that they need to consider both the employee client and the employer client, and whereby the employer is the one paying the agency, David Aplin is most likely to put the needs and satisfaction of the employer, ahead of those of the employee.

They always seem to come through when needed. For those of you in transition periods, wondering what your next move might be, Aplin is a great place to visit. The jobs they tend to offer aren't the greatest paying, but they are enough to get you by and if you're lucky you'll meet some great people along the way. She was very friendly and asked me to take a skills test at home. I did as she asked and was called in for an interview. She explained that I did extremely well on the Word/Excel testing, resume looked good, and that a position was likely coming in that would be perfect for me in the next couple of weeks. She took all of my personal information, photocopied my driver's license, and got me "set up in their system". This took a while, but I left with Jennifer's assurance that I would be set up with something very soon and she was just waiting for confirmation on the position. This was just before the winter holidays. I never heard back from Jennifer on that position. I emailed to follow up and ask about it with no reply. I left a phone message that was not returned. Eventually, I got someone else on the phone who told me that the position Jennifer had mentioned had come and gone. Jennifer never called or emailed to explain what happened and never found anything else for me. I even emailed about a simple data entry position that I found on Indeed.ca that was advertised by Strictly Staffing with Jennifer as the contact (and I tested at over 80 wpm) to see if I could have it - no surprise, no reply! This is a shady and dishonest operation and I am still amazed that I was "rejected" by a temp agency in such a misleading and mysterious fashion. I soon after found much better results with Supertemp and David Aplin Recruiting. My strong recommendation -- STAY AWAY from this highly incompetent and frustrating agency!
