Be warned! This is a now a fraudulent Talavera operation. I purchased a set of six place settings of Talavera two years ago and was extremely pleased. Accordingly, we went back to Puebla in September and purchased additional place settings and service pieces. They arrived today: poorly packaged with pieces broken. When I unwrapped the items I was appalled at the quality. We called this establishment and they stated they weren't responsible for broken items and that the standard pattern we ordered was interpreted by another artist. The quality of the Talavera paining is really bad and looks nothing like our original dishes. Additionally, we have now learned that this business now uses uncertified artists and our plates arrived without authenticity holograms that are now being used in Puebla for this very reason. We were in Puebla in part to get a set of Talavera dishes and this is where we bought them. We wanted dishes that did not use lead glaze, were a little rustic, had designs that were more traditional. This place had a huge selection of designs and since we were ordering it made rather than buying an existing set, we could choose which sorts of dishes we wanted. For example, we ordered coffee mugs instead of cups and saucers, we didn't like how large the coffee pot is so we didn't order it. We ordered a design where the painting was very precise and the colors just popped, it was on the more expensive side of their range. The service for 8 was about $1,300 USD and the crating and shipping of it to Mexico City from Puebla was an additional $165 USD. They have a demonstration during the day of the production process.
