Gayle and I were…read morehere last Sunday for a performance of Handel's Messiah by the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra & Chorus (TOCCATA). Gayle's 93 year-old Mother is an Alto in their Chorus. I've always enjoyed this English-language Oratorio composed in 1741 by George Frideric Handel. As the entire piece would clock in at over 3 hours, TOCCATA limited its performance to key portions of Part 1 (Birth) and Part 3 (Resurrection). I particularly like Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, Ev'ry valley shall be exalted, and For unto us a Child is born in Part 1. For these pieces and the rest of the concert for that matter, TOCCATA did a bang up job. I was perhaps one of the better Messiah performances that I had experienced over the many years that I had been attending. The TOCCATA performance was further enhanced by the excellent acoustics at St. Theresa, the attractive sanctuary, the welcoming ruach of this congregation, and an appreciative full house. One didn't have to be Catholic or even Christian to appreciate this special Holiday event.

Husband and I are in town for our 1st wedding anniversary. On the way to the beach, restaurants etc…read morewe passed the 1st Baptist Church sign. This sat in our hearts the last few days and decided to spend our morning giving this place a chance. After all, we've has a very blessed trip thus far and wanted to give God the thanks we felt for allowing us this trip together. We are so glad that we did. What a beautiful, genuine group of people. There was a nice outside set up of chairs, smiling faces, beautiful songs of worship and a feeling in the air that we were meant to be here today, celebrating with gratitude with these wonderful people. Pastors message touched our hearts in a spot we deeply needed. No one rushed us for money, no hate found here, only genuine hearts and a warm welcome. We will absolutely be back when we are back in town for a Sunday. We felt at home, and very sorry we couldn't partake in their 4th of July bbq post service that we were graciously invited to due to anniversary fun we had booked. God Bless you all.

As the Lord teaches us to do, I found this church to be accepting of all those wanting to grow their faith and their walk with the Lord. The children's and the Youth programs are building in numbers and strength. I would strongly recommend this church to anyone looking for a Bible based church.

Bible Study begins at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday. All are welcome; so feel free to comedown. Everyone there would love it. Everyone is very friendly, and not only are the members involved in sharing Christs love they also do lots of outdoor activities associated with the Pathfinder Club including rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, camping, and boating. This is the kind of environment I grew up in so I really liked it. I hope you do too.
