We came here upon numerous recommendations. Tacos Tony does the basics right. Nothing fancy, and it's not trying to be. The ambience feels like a diner. It is authentic Mexican food. Then again, I doubt any unauthentic Mexican joints can survive in Leamington. We had a short lunch. From favourite to least: chicken (pollo) taco ($2.50 tax in), nacho ($5.50 tax in), cow tongue (lengua) taco ($3.00 tax in). Pulled chicken was fresh, lightly flavoured and not spicy. Nacho was average until we hit the beef and re-fried beans at the bottom. The beans+beef combo was awesome. I regretted not having ordered a beef burrito. Cow tongue taco was a letdown. It was, oddly, wet. And maybe the water diluted the flavour as the cow tongue didn't taste, as in not just bland but completely tasteless. Everything seemed to be made in house. The portion were generous. Two tacos can make a meal. Tacos came in double soft tortillas, which TBH were a bit rough in quality. The meat to tortilla ratio was outstanding (see picture). The Mexican style comes with onion and cilantro as toppings. The Supreme style comes with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and cheese as toppings. The green salsa was too watery. Tony's prices were the lowest among the three Latin American restaurants we had visited. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the visit. The authenticity, portion, pricing can't be beat. The cow tongue, tortilla and salsa, however, pulled down the rating. Overall 3.5 stars.

This is probably the most authentic Mexican food you can find and a good casual spot for lunch. Felt like I was in Mexico. Everything is made in house, including the chips and sauce. The portions are all really large and they are able to make almost everything vegetarian. They also had Jarritos. Don't come here if you're looking for tex-mex food (no salsa here), come here if you're looking for an authentic experience. The food could use some more flavor/spice but the green sauce does the job. The place itself is small but the staff is exceptionally friendly and I would definitely come back here.

I've been to Mexico city, and this is the closest you get to the authentic small local Taco places there. The authentic Tacos are way different than the ones we are used to in Canada and the USA, that are modified and americanized! At Tacos Tony, you get the real deal. I'm not that fan of the taste, and like heavier Mexican meals.

Tacos Tony is as authentic as you can get. From the moment you walk in you'll feel like you're at a small locally run restaurant in Mexico (not that I've ever been..but you know, I can imagine). The restaurant is full of Mexican customers which is a good sign. I don't eat Mexican food often but I do enjoy the tacos here. I do think however the tacos could be seasoned a bit more heavily - I find myself piling on the green salsa on them to get more flavour in the tacos. Also the food takes a while to arrive to your table once you order. Regardless, Tacos Tony is worth visiting at least once if you're in the area.

Looks awesome with all the recent renovations! There's a reason it's been open for 25 years. Amazing

1st time it was wonderful. Since I'm really disappointed and for what we had it was expensive. This was my last visit.

My family lived there for several years and Taco Bell/Burrito Banditos don't satisfy that craving for authentic Mexican.

Light and fresh, with the additional steak adding a heartiness to it. - Okonomiyaki Brussel Sprouts: Would never have thought of this combo but it definitely worked, with the okonomiyaki sauce adding a sweet kick to the sprouts. The pork belly on it was indulgent. - Bao Buns: Got the taiwanese pork and thai chicken baos. Of the two, the pork was tastier. The protein-to-bao ratio could be better. - Tacos: Pretty tasty though small. Space is compact, decor is lively. Prices are a tad high for the portion sizes, but that's how things are these days. Service was pretty quick and friendly. Overall, a pretty good spot for a fun meal.

We ended up walking down the street just to have them catch up and said we could dine in. There's no dining in the restaurant but there's a few tables on the sidewalk. It was taco Tuesday so we ordered three tacos. Carne asada. Chipotle chicken. Jackfruit pibil. The tortilla was two layered and slightly crispy around the edges while warm and soft on the inside. The sauces (mango, mild, and spicy) were flavourful. Fries supreme. Wow. It was literally indescribable. All the flavours complemented each other without being overwhelming. Any fries supreme you ever had, this fries supreme was next level. Churros. I felt it was slightly over cooked, but it's churros so it was still tasty. Big shoutout to the waitress who stayed late for us!! Many thanks!! Would 100% return for tacos and fries supreme.

I don't understand the high stars I'll never go back & never recommend this restaurant. Now maybe we ordered the wrong thing I don't know. I can't imagine the rest of their food being any better. Our bill was $82.00 with 2 pops included. The inside was okay everything was really old & worn out inside not much ambiance to mention. We are not from the area & not familiar with the restaurants this one had a high rating that's why we chose it.

There were 8 tables of migrant workers, so the place had to have food similar to home (there were several tables with food that I couldn't recognize, and I've toured the Yucatan several times). Regardless, service was quick. Food ordered and out in 20 minutes. I ordered the birria Tacos....they were excellent. The accompying broth was different than others I've had, but it was extremely flavourful and did the job. The Tacos were stuffed with meat (open face). My dining companion ordered a 3 taco combo..1 chorizo, 1 pasteur and 1 pork. The chorizo was a star, the other two, while good, had huge pieces of fat in them...kinda turned him off. But he did say he'd order them again. I'll definitely go back.
