1st time it was wonderful. Since I'm really disappointed and for what we had it was expensive. This was my last visit.

We were not impressed with our dinner visit. The flooring was broken in places (I understand that dilemma), but the food on the floor was not nice, the ripped chairs were unfortunate. My son said "this place is scuffed." But we came for the food - so I got a Mexican beef taco and an Al pastor and they were good. My son got the quesidilla and it came with crema on it (our mistake, but he won't eat it), so I shared and it just wasn't very good. My hubby was just fine with his cows tongue tacos, but my daughter was pretty weirded out by the peas and beans in the burrito, so she ate just the meat out of it. We will try somewhere else if we come back in town. read more

I was very disappointed in this spot. We had been recommended by a friend to go here. As we understand it is an authentic mexican food place so we had high expectations on quality. The food just did not match that at all. The shrimp taco was cold - no flavour at all. The chicken taco flavour was very bad. We did not finish our food because it was just so unpleasant. We came here upon numerous recommendations. Tacos Tony does the basics right. Nothing fancy, and it's not trying to be. The ambience feels like a diner. It is authentic Mexican food. Then again, I doubt any unauthentic Mexican joints can survive in Leamington. We had a short lunch. From favourite to least: chicken (pollo) taco ($2.50 tax in), nacho ($5.50 tax in), cow tongue (lengua) taco ($3.00 tax in). Pulled chicken was fresh, lightly flavoured and not spicy. Nacho was average until we hit the beef and re-fried beans at the bottom. The beans+beef combo was awesome. I regretted not having ordered a beef burrito. Cow tongue taco was a letdown. It was, oddly, wet. And maybe the water diluted the flavour as the cow tongue didn't taste, as in not just bland but completely tasteless. Everything seemed to be made in house. The portion were generous. Two tacos can make a meal. Tacos came in double soft tortillas, which TBH were a bit rough in quality. The meat to tortilla ratio was outstanding (see picture). The Mexican style comes with onion and cilantro as toppings. The Supreme style comes with lettuce, tomato, sour cream and cheese as toppings. The green salsa was too watery. Tony's prices were the lowest among the three Latin American restaurants we had visited. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the visit. The authenticity, portion, pricing can't be beat. The cow tongue, tortilla and salsa, however, pulled down the rating. Overall 3.5 stars. read more

After receiving numerous recommendations about this place (even from a relative who lives in London), we decided to finally check it out for ourselves. Our first visit resulted in us not going in, as the lineups were out the door...but that was a Sunday. We ventured back in the following week on a Tuesday at around 3:30pm and the place was fairly quiet. We were greeted at the door, passed two menus and were told to seat ourselves. Decor is non-descript....it reminded of several places I've dined at in Mexico...tv blaring in the back, basic tables, next to nothing on the tables (just napkins), a few authentic piece on the walls. Fancy it ain't. After reviewing their menu, we each decided on each getting a small chicken burrito (at $6.00) and share a large nachos ($7.00). Our waitress, once done cleaning tables, brought over a plate of homemade nacho chips and took our order. We were advised to go to the front of the restaurant to grab our own drinks from the fridge. I opted for a pineapple drink and my dining companion got Mandarin orange....they're authentic Mexican sodas (Jarritos) with lower sugar levels than pop. Our burritos came out first.....Fairly decent sizes considering we ordered a small. Stuffed with flavorful shredded chicken, corn, rice, fried beans and topped with cheese (Mexican), lettuce, tomatoes and onions. They were fantastic. Halfway through our meal, our nachos arrived. They were the same nacho chips we got earlier, sitting on a bed of refried beans and shredded beef, covered with lettuce and sour cream. All in all our meal was excellent and we left stuffed (and only finished half the nachos). Portion size, for the quality and quantity is excellent. We both will definitely go back. Just a quick reminder.....this is authentic Mexican fare...not tex-Mex....so the food isn't too spicy at all. You can kick it up using sauces. read more

This is probably the most authentic Mexican food you can find and a good casual spot for lunch. Felt like I was in Mexico. Everything is made in house, including the chips and sauce. The portions are all really large and they are able to make almost everything vegetarian. They also had Jarritos. Don't come here if you're looking for tex-mex food (no salsa here), come here if you're looking for an authentic experience. The food could use some more flavor/spice but the green sauce does the job. The place itself is small but the staff is exceptionally friendly and I would definitely come back here. read more

Tacos Tony is as authentic as you can get. From the moment you walk in you'll feel like you're at a small locally run restaurant in Mexico (not that I've ever been..but you know, I can imagine). The restaurant is full of Mexican customers which is a good sign. I don't eat Mexican food often but I do enjoy the tacos here. I do think however the tacos could be seasoned a bit more heavily - I find myself piling on the green salsa on them to get more flavour in the tacos. Also the food takes a while to arrive to your table once you order. Regardless, Tacos Tony is worth visiting at least once if you're in the area. read more

Decided to give this place a try during lunchtime since it had the most reviews on Yelp. I'm assuming the chef/waiter was Tony. Start with the positive. Inexpensive food and $4 burgers; not that I would come here for a burger. I ordered a Taco supreme (beef, pork and chicken) and a small chicken tortilla. I'm shocked by the 5 star reviews. This place is bad. Maybe it's a 5 star in Leamington since I haven't tried the other Mexican places in town. I have been to many Mexican restaurants in the US and Mexico. Brown chicken got my attention. All the meat was ground up; if it was really meat. I felt sick all afternoon. Now I know why a local Canadian told me he only goes there after a night of drinking. read more

Unfortunately, we had the worst experience here. The food itself was as authentic as you can expect. We had the beef quesadilla and a caritas burrito.......that is all... we did not get our drinks. Luckily, we didn't get anything too spicy or we would have been in trouble. Both the beef quesadilla and burrito came with lettuce, tomato, and onion. The beef and pork were very good! However, the service was lacking, we saw our waitress one time, when we ordered. One of the forks we received was dirty, so we decided to share one fork, as the waitress was MIA. Holy crap, this place is amazing! Leamington isn't exactly known for it's culinary delights, in fact it's pretty much a wasteland. Unfortunately, being the closest town to Point Pelee National Park, I find myself visiting Leamington at least once a year to partake in the world's coolest hobby: Birdwatching. I try to spend as little time as possible in the town but I have to venture in a couple times a day for sustenance. Until a couple years ago this was a depressing experience. Then I found Tony's. A little background: there's a lot of agriculture going on in this part of Ontario and there seems to be a huge population of Mexican migrant workers that work in the greenhouses and fields. One benefit of this situation is that there are a handful of Mexican restaurants in Leamington. Tony's, however, is the best and most popular. The food at Tony's is amazing and authentic. The place is a total hole in the wall, there's a good mix of Mexicans and local farm boys, and there's always some horrible Mexican singer in tight leather pants singing on the TV. I love it. There's nothing vegetarian on the menu but I ask Tony to make me something without meat in it and something awesome always arrives. Order a Jarritos Mexican pop to wash it down. I've never been given a bill at Tony's, Tony just makes up a price on the spot (this pricing model is one of the most important aspects of a good restaurant in my opinion) and it's always unbelievable low given the quantity and quality of food. When you walk into this place you may want to turn around and walk out... but don't, trust me. It may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, but the tacos are quite delicious. It's a real "mom + pop+ shop vibe, so much so that when I was there the gentleman that was the cook was also our server. He was so authentic we actually had problems ordering since we didnt speak spanish, and he spoke very basic english. But once again, totally worth it! Food here is just like back in Mexico City! My family lived there for several years and Taco Bell/Burrito Banditos don't satisfy that craving for authentic Mexican. Definitely a good sign when most of the patrons here are Mexican too. Place is like a dive and family run. Don't expect anything fancy but the service is polite and prices are fantastic. We had the supreme beef/barbacoa tacos. 2 was enough to fill me up. Meat was juicy and a good sized portion. I recommend asking for the green salsa! This past week I was on vacation so Janna, the kids and I went down to see my parents in Belle River. While we were there we took a trip over to Leamington. Leamington is a small city of just over 30,000 people. The purpose of the trip was to go to Colasantis - a great nursery that includes a whole lot of fun things for kids to do (rides, petting zoo, etc.). While we were in Leamington we also planned to go to an authentic Mexican restaurant. Leamington is home to many migrant workers from Mexico and it is exciting to see this Mexican influence in the city of Leamington. My parents took us to Taco Tony's. They had been there many times and even Janna and the kids were there last year when I was on a missions trip to Kenya. I was really looking forward to it. I love mexican food and any chance I have to try authentic mexican, I am on board. I like mexican so much that I will even eat Taco Bell just to get a mexican fix. Yeah, I know, that should not count as true mexican. So, looking at the menu I ordered the beef burrito and chicken flautas. Both were excellent. The ingredients were fresh and the food was clearly prepared to order. One of the highlights was Tony's green hot sauce that he makes himself. It tasted like a mixture of jalepeno, avacado and cilantro. It was hot and was a great condiment to the 2 dishes I had. After the meal I had the opportunity to chat with Tony himself and discover that he has been running the restaurant for 11 of his 14 years in Canada. He was a freindly guy whose hospitality added to the family run feel of the restaurant. If you ever happen to be in Leamington I encourage you to check out Taco Tony's. What a dump. Repulsive food. I don't understand the 5 stars for here? Food looked and tasted nasty.

I had to laugh out loud reading one of the other reviews here about expecting a wait staff at Tony's. lol As far as I know, you're not getting waited on at Tony's. We're big boys, aren't we? You can go get the food yourself. Walk up to the counter, order your food, sit down. When you hear Tony call you, "Eh, amigo!" go up and get it. Ask for hot sauce and a drink, and then go sit back down and eat. When you're done, pay the man $10, even if he only asks for $5. I've even given Tony a $20 on occasion because I really think he deserves it. I wish I could give him more, be he seems to be doing pretty well for himself. It's a whole other world at Tony's! I'd recommend it to anyone that isn't afraid of trying a cow tongue taco or two. Mainly, because you should try the cow tongue taco or two. They're delicious. And so are the fry supremes! But don't forget to get some guacamole to drizzle on! ...man, just writing this review gave me a craving I need to fix, ASAP. read more

I read a lot about it being amazingly authentic so naturally I got excited ( parents met in Mexico so I head all about the food and how it should be) and I decided to go and have a second lunch ... And well maybe I had too high of an expectation but I didn't come out of there in love. My tacos al pastor although well seasoned were very dry and my partner's burrito was a little bland. Ordered the beef tacos and chicken burrito. Everything was tasty and fresh, but a little bland. The taco needed a bit more sauce but the burrito was perfect. If only they added a bit of salt I think there would be more flavour there. All in all, fresh and cheap, but I wouldn't drive out of my way for it. read more

So me and my friends decide to go visit a friend out in lemington. We all get there pretty hungry and decide to go to tacos tony. As we walk in the place is pretty dirty and loud but thats not a problem for us we are just looking forward to some good food. The waiter was friendly and very enthusiastic. Theres 5 of us and we all order supreme tacos and one of us got fries. The waiter comes back with tacos that are not supreme, just the basic cilantro and green onions. We were all so hungry and just started eating. As I took my first bite I could not believe what I was tasting. Ive never had a more dry and bland taco in my entire life. Im not sure what the meat was but it was something I never wanna see or eat again.It resembled low quality dog food. I ordered 2 and could only finish one before my stomach started to hurt. No one was able to finish their meal. The only thing that was worth getting were the fries, the tacos were beyond awful. On top of all this they charge us as if they were supreme tacos at 3$ a taco which seemed ridiculous and we tried telling the waiter that the tacos we got were not supreme but she insisted that they were. All in all an extremely awful restaurant to go to and would suggest anything over this. read more
