Al pastor taco with grilled onions

This place was a really good! The taco is delicious, especially for $2.50 each. Al pastor is good. They didn't have any pineapple today. They take Venmo Zelle and cash. The corn tortillas are fresh made!!

I HATE making negative reviews, but unfortunately my gf and brought her mom to enjoy the tacos since she lives in the area and has never tried them. She even brought tacos home for me, but I'm grateful to have not been home to eat them yet. She told me that the service was very different from the last time we were there. The person taking the orders was exceptionally rude and mumbled some curse words to her under her breath. She wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt since it looked like she may had been angry at a different customer but she was taking it out on my gf. Again, I'm grateful to have not had a chance to eat the dinner she brought home for me because her mom called right before I got home and said she was upset and disgusted because there was a "small coarse and curly hair in her tacos" From start to finish the experience today was not something we would ever return for.

A 4 only because I need to actually try the food. Here's what impressed me: 1. The set up was immaculate, super organized, clean and meticulous. You could tell these folks care about their business and take it as serious as they would with a storefront. 2. They home made their tortillas. The batter was right there plus the wooden tortilla maker and the metal crank roller thing to flatten it! This was my fav feature next to their name and the sign. Great job branding without spending big loot. 3. They have everything you need, but go early as there's always a line. 4. Parking is easy. There's a strip mall and you can pull right up on a not busy night and sit in your car while you wait as there is a lengthy wait!

    Al pastor on the spit

I've driven by a few times and seen the Al pastor roasting on the spit. It was too tempting to pass up today, and I got to give it a try for dinner. I was not disappointed! They roll out the tortillas fresh as you order them and then toss them on the grill. I ordered four tacos: asada, Al pastor, pollo, and suadero (pork). My favorite was the Al Pastor, but they were all very flavorful and packed full of meat. Tacos go for $2.50 a piece, so slightly more expensive than your typical taco truck, but well worth it considering the size of the tacos. You can pay with cash or Venmo. I will probably come back again!

Home made tortillas were nice but the carne asada wasn't . It didn't taste seasoned and was a little too mushy for my taste .

Tacos were great! They moved pretty fast for such a long line too. My recommendation is the torta of the tacos. Asada and pastor.

I'll eat again very soon. They make homemade tortilla. I love the Suedero, and my niece loved her Pollo (chicken) tacos.

The lengua was soft, the cabeza was nice and braised, the asada was decent and seasoned.

However, El Primo has recently HUMBLED me. I have to give credit where credit is due and El Primo managed to slide in my number 1 spot for best tacos in LA - I am truly impressed. Of course, I always opt for carne asada and the meat here is just so tender and flavorful especially when paired with their salsa which has the perfect amount of spice and flavor. As a major pineapple fan, I understand it's more traditional to add that with al pastor but I add it onto my carne asada tacos and it is so yummy. Their pineapple is freshly cut right in front of you and is my favorite aspect of this vendor as I know not all vendors have it. Lastly, let's be clear that not all horchata is created equally but El Primo has superior horchata. The amount of milkiness and cinnamon is absolute perfection as I've had some watery horchatas in the past, so make sure you grab yourself a horchata while you're here. As someone who lives in the valley, despite recently discovering this spot a few weeks ago I find myself driving out to Venice a lot lately just for these tacos because they are just THAT GOOD and also very cheap. Just make sure you bring cash or have Zelle and enjoy the food here because it is phenomenal.

They have lots of trash cans, recycling bins, and even Purell wipes!!! This is such a gem, it's sad that the trucks don't come more than once a week. Of note, there is an employee of the "Gateway business district" that stays visible and keeps an eye on things. Presumably to make sure the trucks follow whatever rules there are for the weekly event and the diners are safe. Love it.
