Churrería El Moro is always a good idea. We stopped by around 2pm on Christmas Eve and, no…read moresurprise, the place was still packed--but absolutely worth it. We went classic with an order of four churros and the trio of dips: chocolate, guava, and cajeta. Perfect move. Each person in our family had a different favorite dip, which meant the churros disappeared very quickly. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and best enjoyed dunked generously. Despite the crowds, service was prompt, friendly, and efficient, which made the experience even better. Simple, iconic, and delicious--El Moro is a must-try (and re-try) when you're in Mexico City.

Got an order of 4 churros with caramel (cajeta) and guava (Guayaba) dipping sauces, they were out of chocolate. You can have them tossed in regular sugar or cinnamon sugar which is traditional. The churros were warm and crispy on the outside and soft inside but had a slight burnt flavor. Both dipping sauces were good but in a different way. It's like donuts topped with caramel or guava, one is more fruity and the other more sweet. Just depends what you're in the mood for or what you prefer. I also got the frances hot chocolate which is their hot chocolate with vanilla. It was better than what I had earlier at another place. Overall the churros were good but not the best i've had.

In the past few years, they've expanded to the US in two locations in Southern California. I wanted to see if it was any different in Mexico. The answer is a resounding yes. They're hot and crispy, while maintaining a fluffy center that you just can't find easily in the US. Their dips are pre packaged here. I like cajeta and condensed milk, but chocolate is also a top seller. My wife got an ice cream churro sandwich with mango ice cream. She loved it. The ice cream was creamy and the churros hot. We don't remember ordering this at home, but she really liked it. Most likely I'll be coming back before I go home.

Cooked in vegetable oil, these tasted incredible! Chocolate dip ($30 Mxn = $1.67 USD ) While the chocolate dip was on the pricier side, I did enjoy dipping my churros in the rich and smooth tasting chocolate. Overall, El Moro is a must visit! Fortunately for me, they have a location in southern California, so I can get my churro fix! This location only had 2 tables, but most people were getting their orders to go, and eat on the run.

GIVE THESE CHURROS 3 MICHELIN STARS…read more Let me start by saying I am not a dessert guy. I've had maybe one or two churros in my life that I thought were decent. Generally, churros are not my thing. But scattered throughout CDMX you'll find El Moro, a shop almost singularly focused on churros. The locations are clean, spacious, and have the vibe of what In-N-Out might look like if it had a blue-branded side hustle. For 16 pesos, you can buy a churro and have it tossed in cinnamon sugar, maybe with a pinch of salt. Standing there, I found myself asking how a place like this could survive selling churros alone. I've already been back three times in the past ten days. This is not what you would normally call a churro. It's a fried, crispy mass with a perfect crunch on the outside and a gooey, molten interior, blending into a single bite that somehow stays light, crisp, and rich all at once. The whole thing leaves you asking yourself what do they have in this powder? The line is always long, which means the churros never really get cold. As long as you're not the only one there, which you won't be, you're almost guaranteed a perfect one. Even if you don't do sweets, and even if you don't particularly like churros, you HAVE TO TRY THESE! Happy eating from John Seeto!
