This crew works hard and it really shows. We both ended up ordering the mix and match taco meal with the blackened mahi, chipotle steak, and Mexican creamed corn. We also got the chips and salsa for the table to share. Our total was $35 on the dot. I appreciate that they bring the chips and salsa out ahead of the meal to help space things out as you eat. The chips were my favorite, extra thin and crispy with just the right amount of salt and seasoning. The salsa was also the perfect consistency and flavor with just enough spice to not be bland but not to be considered spicy. The tacos came out quicker than I expected considering the packed house. The steak was tender and flavorful and accompanied by well cooked peppers and onions. The blackened mahi was the star of the show, though. Great flavor and cooked just right! The creamed corn had the elotes toppings and was a great accompaniment to the meal. Overall it's a more substantial meal than I expected and I wasn't even able to finish all of my corn. It's perfect for something quick when you don't have the time for the long waits at the traditional sit down restaurants- especially on a busy weekend evening. Last night, I had a pretty disappointing experience at this restaurant. When I walked in and ordered my food, I could clearly hear a woman in the kitchen venting about how long she had been working that day and she's tired of it. While I understand everyone has tough days, it was unprofessional and awkward to overhear her frustration so clearly. Things didn't improve when I changed my queso size at my boyfriend's request. The employee behind the counter (not the one taking my order) let out an exaggerated huff and rolled her eyes, which was unnecessary and off-putting. When she brought my food to me, there was no attempt at basic customer service--no smile, no "how are you," no "have a good night," just a dull "yup" with a blank face. I always try to be polite and considerate to those working in service, so I thanked her and wished her a good night, but her response really stuck with me. Honestly, if you're that unhappy in your job, maybe it's time to reconsider your role. It's important to remember that a lot of people would be grateful for a job, especially in tough times. We all have hard days, but it's unfair to let that affect others. Everyone deserves to have a positive interaction, no matter how your day is going. I think this employee needs to be spoken to about professionalism and basic courtesy, and maybe look for a role better fitting for her attitude and mindset. They have lots of seating options including outdoor. So you can bring your pooch with you. They have several side options that are also all delicious. My sister is a pescatarian and she has plenty of options to choose from. They also have vegetarian tacos. The employees are friendly and professional and keep the place clean between customers. The decor is fun, fabulous, and support fair trade artist for some of the decorum. My favorite part about this business is that they give back to the world. For every taco you buy they donate money to feed the poor in another country so it is a win win. They provide random tidbits of where they help and who they help on flyers in the napkin holders. After eating here you feel good in more ways than one.
