I travel to Arkansas quite regularly (I'm from Minnesota) and no matter what, I always stop at Taco Villa. The restaurant itself is what I would consider "Hole-in-the-wall," consisting of four small tables and a few outside patio tables. While the restaurant itself isn't the best, the food is seriously addicting!!! I've tried most everything on the menu. My favorites are the tamales, nachos and cheese with beans, and the baby burrito (which is only slightly smaller than what a person would consider a regular size burrito. Their regular sized burrito is closer to the size of Chipotle's.) Their food is not healthy by any stretch of the imagination. Lots and lots and lots of cheese (perhaps part of the reason I love it so much, being a Midwestern girl that loves her cheese!) This is almost always my diet "cheat day" place of choice when I'm in Arkansas. Their home made salsa is honestly the best I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and buy a bottle to take home with you! This place has been one of my family's go-to take out places for as long as I can remember. The taco salad with Mexican dressing is my favorite here but honestly you can't go wrong with anything. We had to try Taco Villa because it's a local favorite. I was truly hoping this was going to be similar to Mexican Villa a place in Springfield MO "where I'm originally from" but it wasn't. In fact MV is high end compared to this place. The thing with MV is they spend lots of money on their cheese, and signature sauces. Taco Vila on the other hand doesn't have any "premium ingredients." Picture home burrito night except you water down the seasoning a bit. That seriously all this is "white people burrito night." This is also apparent by everyone who orders anything here that they also order a cheese dip that they dunk their burrito into. The cheese is simply that canned cheese you usually get with nachos at a ball park. PS they only accept cash!!! I understand this is an acquired taste, just like Springfields MV, but I personally think you'd do better making it at home. The staff is great! They work hard and fast to get orders out and get them right. If you are like me and cannot eat hot sauce and do not like to waste- tell them NO HOT SAUCE! It is apparently very good- my husband loves it and they are very generous with it! The few down sides is 1) cash only 2) limited inside seating and I am unsure about outside seating. If it's wiped down and warm enough to sit outside then, no one including me should have any complaints on seating. 3) Only meat offered is beef and me and another friend can only eat Chicken without spices and wished they had some plain cooked chicken without spices. The beef is a bit spicy and a lot greasy and such as I had colon surgeries I cannot eat such.... Even though I do on occasion with regret later! It is very good for those who can eat it! *** This is not to Offend ***. I apologize in advance if it does. It is NOT my intent!! . I don't appreciate the hateful comments about it being an unclean place in any way or that they cook with the cheapest ingredients. I truly think they do a great job and give generous portions- love - the extra cheese!!! . And if they put a bit too much of something on your taco and it's your first time, if you will just tell them what you want and how you want it- they are very accommodating and do their best to please each of us. GREAT, GREAT, DELICIOUS FOOD that is made exactly the way I want it. They are cooking fresh food all day long. The employees are doing their jobs and the place is packed--don't worry, their customers are great, too. When the customer has been waited on, that customer just steps aside and let's the next person order. Every employee is doing their job and the customers are getting exactly what they ordered in a timely fashion . It's like going to a family reunion... I was skeptical when we arrived. We ordered a Toco plate, and the wife had 3 tacos. Althought they were busy the service was fast. My tacos were great little heavy on the lettuce, but equal meat and cheese. The refried beans were the best I ever had. Not soupy, just right. The salad was ok and was a nice addition to the meal. I used the provided salsa left on the table it had the right amount of heat to it. The best part was the price was very fair, and the whole meal was like under $14, and I had leftovers.not the best looking place, but the food was off the charts. LOL read more

This has got to be some of the worst food in this town... Yet this nasty place is always busy. They use some of the cheapest ingredients, what they call ground beef is something that I have never tasted in my life, nothing but fillers and grease. My favorite "Mexican" food in the River Valley. This place is a landmark and has been open forever. It's out-of-the-way, absolutely TINY, and they ONLY accept cash, but the food is glorious. One of the best go to comfort food places in Russellville. Maybe it's nostalgia, maybe they sprinkle their food with magic, but sometimes this place scratches an itch like nowhere else can. Prices are great. The soft tacos are off the charts and flash fried unlike anywhere else I've seen to make them puffy. Not sure how to explain it, but ask almost anyone from the Russellville area... the hot sauce and cheese dip from Taco Villa is addictive. Only reason it's not a 5 star review... they don't take debit/credit cards, they need a drive thru, and their building is way too tiny and over crowded to eat inside. The food is causal fast food Mexican but makes you say Taco Bell who? It is rare to call in a order or stop by and they not be super busy. But the staff work hard to get the food out fast. To start the food was great as usual I ordered the burrito and taco salad with cheese dip! I would give this place 5 stars for there food. My only complaint is the girl who took our order she was rude and was incredibly slow. You could tell the staff didn't not like her, the other woman that checks people out asked her to put a bottle of hot sauce together twice and she rolled her eyes at her for asking. I have been eating at Taco Villa for about 30 yrs. It's a great local place. Love the unique taco meat and especially the cheese dip. I usually go for a chip and dip with either an all meat burrito or nacho. Best cheese dip and nacho in town hands down. My only complaints are how tiny the inside is, which at times is frustrating to pick up when jam packed. A drive thru window would be a great addition. Also would love to see them upgrade to a computerized system and accept cards. I believe this is the only eatery in Russellville that does not accept them. So just because you "lived in Arizona and have a great appreciation for Mexican cuisine" doesn't mean you get to discount those of us who grew up eating this deliciousness.
