Favorite tacos on the North Shore! Teriyaki salmon taco? Yes please. It's as good as it sounds. The chicken tinga and tuna tacos are my other go-tos, but you really can't go wrong with any of the tacos. All are packed full of flavorful fillings and toppings that add contrast. Get the elote corn, it's delectable. The owner Freddy is kind, hardworking and you can tell he loves what he does.

This place is small but mighty. Service was fast and friendly. Food came out hot and fast but everything is fresh and made in house. Homemade tortillas give this place a bit extra in my rating. Don't get the chips and salsa. Although they are fresh and the salsas were excellent, I'd skip them and get an extra taco. The menu is simple, they do mainly tacos and they do them well. If you're near Deerfield IL. then stop here and fill up.

The last time I was here was during COVID, where dine-in was not an option, so it was great to try the indoor dining this time around. I was greeted at the door and there are menu on the wall where you can order from, but the person there told me I could have a seat and they brought the menu out to me. I ordered a few tacos to try and they were great. Sad I didn't see the sign for taco of the week -- braised brisket... I'll need to try that, along with their soup flight. That's awesome, considering that I'm a soup type of person, so to be able to try out different soups is a great concept. I would recommend this place again.

Taco Vida has become a staple over the years and finally has seating available inside again which was closed during Covid. This is not your average taco restaurant. The tacos are more gourmet than normal and priced within the $5.5-$8.5 range. I personally think $8.5 is steep for a taco. When paying this price, I expect a quality taco. I was very disappointed to see that my crispy camarones taco was advertised to have watermelon radish, however, it came with regular radish. The menu was misleading. My favorites are still the carne asada taco and crispy camarones taco. The green and red salsas are nice additions. I tried the pollo taco today and it was lacking in seasoning, but loaded with fresh veggies. Seating is no longer order at the counter and then sit down. They now come to your table to take orders. The service was great and all staff members were friendly.

Truly the worst Quesó birria I have ever had in my life for 6.50$ a piece I feel as though I've been robbed.

Easily the best tacos in the area. Freddy and family keep it authentic and you can taste the difference. My favorite, Al pastor, is delicious but so is the Sea of Cortez fish taco -- beer battered thank you very much. The service is always on point and the restaurant is a fun and casual space with great drinks and ambiance.

If you have not tried Taco Vida yet, I don't know what else to tell you, except to go now! My kids and I have been here a few times now because we loved their tacos so much from our first visit. Taco Vida is located in a big commercial strip area so parking is pretty easy. Once we walked in, we were asked if we were dining in or just taking out. We sat inside and someone greeted us right away. I like that their menu focuses on tacos although they have certain special dishes as well. They had soup and tostada specials the one day we came, and they also had Tamale Tuesday. We tried various proteins in tacos: CARNE ASADA, CHICKEN TINGA, CAMARONES, and the SEA OF CORTEZ. We loved them all. Each taco had generous protein pieces, as well as the respective fixings they had. My personal favorite was the Carne Asada. The steak was delicious and super tender. Honestly, I also loved the shrimp and the fish. I seriously loved them all. They have the red and green salsa. They are both so good! My kids and I all liked the green one better because the red one was a tad too spicy for us. I also tried the LIME MARGARITA, and this was fresh and wonderful. The FRIED PLANTAINS was also a tasty treat for me. They were made to order so they were hot and perfectly cooked. The place gets really busy so the turnover is quite fast. The service was very friendly, fast, and pleasant. They have a water station where customers can either help themselves or one of the staff members would serve as well. There's no doubt that I will be back to this small, local, family business. Over and over.

Had lunch today with a friend. The restaurant's appearance is bright and cheerful. The atmosphere is very loud and crowded - but that's to be expected from a taco place. There are a few tables outside. It took 20 minutes to get our order when we got there - 12:30 on a Friday. They are still new, and I expect that will improve. We got the taco of the week - Ahi Tuna (delicious - Med rare, and flavorful), guacamole (generous portion and flavorful), street corn (generous cheese), and chicken quesadilla (more chicken than expected). Taco prices are about average for "street tacos" sold in a fixed location. Didn't get a chance to have margarita - but can't wait to go back, try more tacos, and margaritas! read more

I ordered from here the other day because my wife wanted tacos, this place was nearby, and their online menu looked good. I was a bit disappointed that they had no dining-in, not even outside -- the strip mall seems to have room for it. But I ordered dinner for pickup, and I was glad I did. The tacos were fresh and delicious, and they were big for tacos, well-filled. We will definitely be ordering from here again, and eating there when we finally can. read more

We used Taco Vida to cater our event this past weekend and it was just the best experience. They came and popped up a mini restaurant on my patio and made their quality restaurant quality food for our crowd without seeming to break a sweat! The guests loved it and raves about the food. Love,love, love this restaurant. Cannot say enough great things about it. The food is always amazing, fresh and just delicious. My entire family loves to go and we all especially enjoy Chef Freddy's guacamole. We are always greeted by friendly employees and we love seeing friends from the neighborhood there as well. Best tacos in the area! We've not had a taco anywhere in the state that even compares to every one we've tried at Taco Vida. I've tried at least 80% of the menu, and every taco is mouthwatering just to remember. Yet still, my favorite part might be the sides--the elote and the guacamole are so fresh, so flavorful, impossible to top. The tortillas are hand made in house and, once again, the best I've ever had. I really don't leave many reviews, but I just had to for this place! If you're thinking about stopping by, go! You won't regret it! read more

I don't quite understand the high reviews here. The tacos were moderate at best. The portions are small for the price and the service is just like the service you receive at a taco truck. However the price is similar to what you see in a top notch Mexican joint. read more

This is my GO TO place for tacos. Before COVID descended upon the world, my colleagues and I would have lunch here at least a few times a week. Freddy, the owner, is just a great guy, and his staff create some amazing flavors. The Crispy Camarone Tacos are unbelievable! Homemade guacamole and soups are awesome too! They are doing curb-side ordering during this craziness, so do yourself a favor, go support an awesome local business...your tummy and heart will thank you! read more

I gave this place a 3 because the food wasn't horrible, but it wasn't amazing. They stuffed the tacos and made it feel like they had little to no flavor. The guacamole is a bit overpriced; honestly it's not bad, but it's $8. In my opinion you could get this type of guacamole at lots of other places for half the price. The service was excellent though. The food, not so much. I don't think I will find myself back here. read more

SO the inside of this strip mall restaurant is festive and clean. The staff was really friendly and they had a eclectic selection of tacos such as lobster and fried shrimp to choose from. For my first visit I thought I'd try a very basic ground beef taco. To me it tasted like a sloppy joe. The taco shell was a thick flour one like a Taco Bell Chalupa. Suffice it to say, I like my sloppy joes on a bun and authentic Mexican on my taco. It wasn't bad, just not what I was expecting. I'd give them another chance and look forward to trying the Elotes which I passed on this visit. For the money it IS a lot of food and next time I may dine in to experience a margarita or two as well. read more

What's all the buzz about this place? I don't get it. Maybe deep suburbia is just starved for a little spice or something. It's been packed the two times I've stopped in. There's always tables with screaming kids. The space is tight and unpleasant. I ordered tortilla soup which was temperature hot and otherwise like salsa in broth with a bit of avocado and a few bits of chicken. Truly nothing special-monotonous and dreary. I also ordered a veggie taco and a beef taco. Both were just ok. My daughter ordered a chicken taco and it was a piece of processed looking chicken with some condiments. And this place is expensive and this place is in the DMV mall which has exactly zero charm. Why is everyone so excited about it? I definitely wouldn't hurry back but if you find yourself deep in the wilds of Deerfield you could grab a meal here and at least you could say you've eaten. Prepare to be underwhelmed. read more

Love this spot, their tacos are amazing. I also love their guacamole (they make it fresh and make is spicy if you ask). Their homemade salsa as are amazing. If you like spicy food like I do - you MUST try the habanero salsa. My go to tacos are the shrimp and blackened fish tacos. The tortilla on the tacos holds up better than any other cord tortilla I have ever eaten. The inside of the place has funky and fun design and the chef/owner, Freddy, is a great guy. read more

If you want tacos, LOOK NO FURTHER! Fresh tasty ingredients served up by friendly knowledgable staff. Order the things you like, eat them and then agree, you just had really good food and a very pleasant experience. Best food, fun atmosphere, super nice staff! It's located in a strip mall next to a daycare and it's fairly small, but don't let appearances fool you. Omg, everything is delish! So I had high hopes for this place from the reviews. The tilapia taco was the biggest let down. It was crispy but the fish itself had a weird odor and didn't seem fresh. The chicken tinga was alright. Al pastor was alright. I was hoping they'd give us chips for the table but you have to pay for those. The fried jalapenos were ok but the sauces were super tiny. Also normally you get corn tortillas unless you order flour in many legit taco places but they just gave me flour which I want super excited about. Not my fave. read more

I love this place. Carne asada tacos are soft and delicious. The chicken taco was a little scant on the chicken and out of 4 styles it was the least fave. Al pastor is the hands down winner. This place is crazy busy so you might have to wait to sit down. The service is fast and very polite. If you like guacamole that is not baby food then order here. The chips are super fresh and crisp. 2 great experiences so far and I'm sure there will be more. read more

If you're craving authentic horchata (not syrupy bottled stuff), this is the place to go. It has been so hard to find a place that serves the real deal. Everything on the menu is freshly made, creatively crafted, delicious, AND affordable. We ordered 5 tacos (tinga de pollo, crisp cameron, pork al pastor, pollo, and carne asada), guacamole, horchata, and churros. They were all wonderful. Also, I loved the ambiance of the place. It was hip but not so serious about itself that my 3 preschool aged kids stuck out. That's quite a feat! read more

Been to this place a few times bit pricey but I do order quite a bit and don't mind paying because the food seems to be good quality but something happened today on my visit that I had a situation and how it was handled made have to leave a bad review something I don't usually believe in.Placed my order today food comes take 2 bites out of my guacamole and find a very long hair! So I winded up telling the lady that I found a hair in my food she proceeds to talk to someone comes back and asks me if I want a new one or my money back? Yes I want the order of guacamole I ordered not one apology and acted as if this was a normal thing and I didn't just take a few bites of something with a hair in it. Me and my friend were shocked... def won't be coming back to a place that charges 8 dollars for a guacamole with a hair in it then doesn't say sorry on top of charging you for it because " I got a fresh one" read more

O.M.G. this place is fantastic! A gem hidden in a very basic shopping center. It sounds like parking can be difficult some days because of the DMV but it's worth staking out a parking spot for some tacos! I tried the Chorizo taco, Sea of Cortez taco (beer battered tilapia), Tinga Pollo (chicken) taco and a steak quesadilla so I think I got a good sampling across all proteins. Everything was delicious! My favorite had to be the tilapia. It was perfectly fried; not greasy but neatly intentionally fried. The slaw and toppings perfectly complimented the fish. Cute little place with great pops of color. I was on a strict schedule and was definitely their first customer of the day when I came in at 11am on a Monday. However they were completely ready for service and my food was ready promptly. The woman taking my order and working the cash register was upbeat, positive and friendly. Absolutely a true delight. I wish I was local so I could frequent Taco Vida! read more

A burrito or taco dinner with no drinks will run you about $20 so it's in line with most places as far as pricing is concerned maybe slight pricey for the type of joint this is. No free chips and salsa its a express shit down and go spot.I wish they had free water but they don't. Service is pretty good, they like to bring the food out to your table after you order but don't give you a number and on several occasions they have walked around asking if this your food. Just make it more efficient and give out numbers! Ive also had orders taken incorrectly. Co worker ordered taco dinner, I heard him, and just tacos came. When he asked about it the cashier was like "No you didn't but I'll get it for you", I know he did cause I was right there. Same happened to me, they always make it right but with comment like it's the customers fault. Take accountability guys. Overall the place is good and with small changes it can be much better. 1. When I looked it up, I found out that if I ordered through the app we could start earning rewards, so we did this, and went inside to pick up the order and eat. Everything was ready and waiting in a large bag for us to pick up. We grabbed it at the pick up window, and went into the dining area to sit and eat. I ordered two tacos, and my husband got a burrito. With the tacos, I chose ground beef, and chose mild on the seasoning. They were very good, although I think next time I'll try spicy and see if I like that even better. But what set them apart was that the taco shells themselves had some taco seasoning on them that was delicious. The tacos also just had the basics, which is how I like them - meat, cheese, and salsa. And two were plenty for me, very substantial. My husband tried the ground beef burrito, which was huge. He could only eat half, and took the other half to eat later. He said he enjoyed it a lot. We were looking forward to going back, but I read just now that all the Chicago locations have closed as of today. That's a shame, because we really liked it a lot.

My lamb taco had corn taco shells (2 layers) and the crispy avocado had flour shells. I love supporting local businesses and really planned to give Eataco 5 stars before we came, but had to deduct 1 star after we dined in. However, when I read more reviews afterward and found that many customers enjoyed the 2 bottles of salsa (1 green and 1 red) that came with the tacos, and we had no condiments of any kind on our table. Should I had a bottle of salsa, the Lamb Carnitas would have been edible. Unfortunately, I had to deduct another star. Our overall experience at Eataco was not bad, it took us only 55 minutes for the meal. It fits the bill when you need something quick and simple.

We're passing this on because this is a small glimpse into what has been happening to us who are restaurant entrepreneurs. The huge economic upheaval--what we are dealing with is unprecedented in history. First. we dealt with the pandemic and no seating. Now we're getting killed by not being able to find help who want to work and our food costs are sky rocketing if we can even get our food supplies. Sometimes folks see how busy we are and think we're rolling in the dough--that just isn't the case because restaurants operate on such tiny margins and when you own a restaurant you are working 80 to 100 hour workweeks. But all of us do this because its our livilhood and we love making you happy with our food and great service! Our restaurants gave us job opportunity that we might not have had any other way. Just know we are so so so grateful for all your support and you continuing to come out and support us. We're very humbly apologetic if at times we can't get to you right away becuase we're all short on help. Just know we're doing the best we can and pray that there's light at the end of the tunnel. The following I copied from a restaurant group I'm in. These are some of the issues restaurants are dealing with right now... A peek into the restaurant industry: Our beef prices are up 47% Our chicken prices are up a minimum of 40% for breast and over 100% for wings Our shrimp went up 25% today and is probably just starting "the climb" Our Pork is up 51% in some cases it has doubled like ribs! Our cod is up 30% with limited availability Credit Card usage and associated fees are up and is down Paper products are up 20% or limited in earth friendly stock Delivery fees are up because fuel prices are up and escalating... and orders are not always filled because drivers are limited Staffing is down and wages are up- almost doubled New staff are learning = learning curve Be kind to your small businesses. Show grace and give constructive feedback (one star reviews and Facebook rants are not constructive feedback). Stop saying "if they paid more" about small businesses. Small business owners take incredible financial risks, sacrifice so much of their family time, give so much to charities, have unpredictable pricing, equipment failures, are impacted by weather, high insurance costs...the list goes on. YOUR CHALLENGE TODAY? Write a 5 star review for a local business. Be nicer, more gracious, more patient Our workers will appreciate a kind word to them too! Maybe even a litte bit extra on their tips! Cheer on the small businesses in your neighborhood. Their success is good for your community!
